Creating a beleaguered narrative, just in case

339

If Newco think SFA board member Gary Hughes is likely to be a thorn in their side due to his Celtic supporter credentials, or because he referred to (Oldco) fans as “the great unwashed” in 2006, I suspect they are mistaken.

Hughes was a member of the SFA board which last year decided decline the SPFL’s decision to investigate Oldco’s practices.  What has now happened, due to the Daily Record’s splash on Hughes’ comment this morning, is that he is effectively neutered on the subject of Newco/Oldco.

None of this is likely to impact on the forthcoming action of Rangers licence to compete in European football in 2011, Gary Hughes has no influence there whatsoever.  But it helps create a beleaguered narrative, should matters go against the Rangers group of clubs.  And that lot, great or otherwise, do love a beleaguered narrative.

  1. No great loss being banned from the sh*tehole that is Ayebrokes. We should go the full Monty and ban them completely.

Siege mentality developing over at the home of the sevcomedians and it will only end in tears.

It can only be to Celtic’s advantage – less damage and more income from selling food, Paradise windfall tickets and more people visiting the superstore, etc.

Come on Celtic you know it makes (financial) sense, ban the twats.

  2. If the Huns are anti Ian Maxwell, that can only be a good thing for us…….

Perhaps change is coming to the SFA afterall?

Too late for me, but always look for the positives!

  4. Well HunMedia is split over cutting our allocation. Away support are miffed (raging really) but others see it as a massive victory.

However their mathematicians ain’t too bright. They see it as adding £3m a year. The forget about the approximate £700k we contribute and the single match tickets they sell.

In reality it won’t add much to their income.

Then again an extra £1m is a lot to them!

  5. Just idle speculation…so not unlike much of what passes for news in the SMSM..

If you ran a business that was also a professional football club, and you were also involved in the running of a previous incarnation of that club that was liquidated owing 135 million pounds….

Would you be more or less inclined to learn from that event, so that “moving forward” you and the new club could avoid the same fate?

Sevco has had at least 3 owners in it’s short life of 6 years (Whyte & Green, Green & then King) – a fact in of itself that should scream out at the body that is supposed to govern the professional game in Scotland. We deliberately ignore the 3 owners in the last 8 months of the life of the last incarnation ( SDM, Whyte & the Administrators)

All of these owners (except Duff & Phelps) :o) have the same qualities & antecedents – glib, shameless, dishonest & with a history of financial wreckage in their past. That too should scream even louder to the SFA. If only because that is the identical type of owner who corrupted the game in Scotland all the while as he syphoned off cash from the insolvent previous incarnation for himself & his family business.

The new club (for reasons that defy logic in the real world of adults) has been run from the start of its short life in a manner identical to that which brought down the old club and once again, the SFA should be on a high DefCon setting as a result. They appear not to be & it’s hard to tell if that’s because they’re incompetent or are afraid of where some of their skeletons are to be found if they look too closely at things.

Within the last 4 weeks though, the armageddon train for Sevco has gathered speed, in my opinion.

They have debt of approximately 18 million pounds, most of which is in soft loans to current directors or their friends.

They have no bank credit or overdraft facilties.

They have no appreciable income source other than ticket sales & season books.

They have no golden nugget players to sell on for a profit.

The chairman is currently dodging legal court orders & the implications for his failing to follow the instructions of the Takeover Panel, who found him guilty of “fraudulently acquiring a controlling interest” in the new club.

Those instructions included setting aside in a separate account, 11 million pounds for the purchase of shares from those who were secondary victims of his fraudulent hostile takeover of the club.

The same man has borrowed some 4 million pounds from a fringe city finance company which has to be repaid next month. The collateral for this loan is unknown.

Two weeks ago this same person recruited a high profile ex player with no managerial experience to the post of manager of this new club.

Two days prior to this announcement though, two directors abruptly resigned for unknown reasons.

This week, we are advised that the position of another 3 directors are in a “pending resignation” status, one of whom is based in the USA & the remaining two are related.

We also know that these 5 directors are most likely the same men (and their friends) who made the soft loans and who along the creditors for the 18 million current debt.

We are also aware that several creditors are pushing for payment of outstanding high value accounts?

Is it possible that the new manager will assume control of football affairs next week, but also be the front man for a syndicate that will take control of this club?

Why would 5 directors who are all owed money fron the club resign or be very likely to resign just as an apparent football managing ingenue takes control of the main business of the club?

Why would that ingenue take the post that is rightly regarded as the most toxic in British football, when there is such high risk to his personal reputation, somethign that is for an integral part of his employability & image?

Why would the man who would be king appoint such an inexperienced & unproven coach to this post, even allowing for any temporary boost to next season’s ticket sales? His last 3 manager appointments all had greater experience, yet were failures.

Have the directors who have/will resign been told that they are unlikely to get their money back in the foreseable future if ever?

Is the Chairman going to do an SDM?

Is he going to receive 1.2 Euros or 16 Rand for this club?

If he did it would benefit him.

The soft loans mentioned above are not his personal liability and will not be protected by the rigourous collateral, caveats & conditions that a bank would require – so he walks away from them.

Would the 11 milion pounds that the Takeover Panel require him to place in a escrowed UK account would no longer be required if he no longer has any financial interest in the club?

Particularly, if the club is deliberately placed into administration, would the Takeover Panel themselves walk away from enofrcing their ruling?

If he divests himself of his interests in this club to the right “people” then all his problems will evaporate.

They would “buy” the club for a pound, but take responsibility for the known debts (perhaps except the soft loans which would explain why these directros are leaving). That debt would include the Close Brothers 4 million and the outstanding unpaid invoices of anxious creditors.

The price of this syndicate assuming respnsibility for these debts would include their man AND men in key positions at this club, because they’re not stupid enough to allow the existing regime to have anything to f=-do with things.

So, next Friday when Gerrard sits in front of press will there also be some annnoucemts about restructuring & personnel changes in the boardroom?

Or will the syndicate be silent partners hiding behind offshore companies with obscure & exotic names because the charade of RRM rnning the club has to be maintained for commercial intergity?

Just idle speculaion after all, but for me, it allows the casual observer to make more sense of the farce that is unfolding at Scotland’s newst professional football club.

Just got a pic from Sevco website saying arrangements with Celtic stays the same…fake news?

An unprecedented Double Treble and historic season for the Club has led to a phenomenal level of demand from supporters to be part of Celtic.

We are happy to reciprocate in terms of ticket allocation, something which will give us the opportunity to meet this huge demand to visit Celtic Park.

  9. Delighted the huns are cutting our allocation, had I been them I would have banned us altogether, their ground is unholy, not a place for good people.

As for the figures, I can see them actually losing money over this, fuds.

Sevco better be careful. If they rile Dermot & Peter again they could be in for some real punishment. How did the gloating by their directors at the semi final work out for them? I think the statement by Celtic shows that we are being ran by real professionals throughout the whole club. The media guys have really been on the ball recently. Is this anything to do with Gerry McCulloch coming in?

My wee mammy used to mourn when I got a ticket for Ibrox games. She told me that I was entering the most evil building in Scotland. She would recite several decades of the rosary during the match for my safe return. Will never forget the look of joy and delightbin her eyes when I told her that I would never visit the Ibrox masonic temple ever again. I will keep that promise to my mother forever.

  17. Celtic fans have brought this ticketing situation on themselves what with the continuous 90 minute partying, celebrating goal after goal and spilling jelly and ice cream all over the concourse.

The last time I was at a game there was the day of the disaster, long before mobiles, my parents were beside themselfs, I didn’t have a clue when I got home what had happened.

I ventured back there in the mid 80s, not to a game I hasten to add, but to sell them stuff, I was doing Ok from them for a year till minty bought them, then it changed from 30 days to 120 days payment, that was it for me.

I am not bothered about making a few bob from them, in fact, it makes their coin all the sweeter knowing that a Tim is getting it.
