Creating a beleaguered narrative, just in case

339

If Newco think SFA board member Gary Hughes is likely to be a thorn in their side due to his Celtic supporter credentials, or because he referred to (Oldco) fans as “the great unwashed” in 2006, I suspect they are mistaken.

Hughes was a member of the SFA board which last year decided decline the SPFL’s decision to investigate Oldco’s practices.  What has now happened, due to the Daily Record’s splash on Hughes’ comment this morning, is that he is effectively neutered on the subject of Newco/Oldco.

None of this is likely to impact on the forthcoming action of Rangers licence to compete in European football in 2011, Gary Hughes has no influence there whatsoever.  But it helps create a beleaguered narrative, should matters go against the Rangers group of clubs.  And that lot, great or otherwise, do love a beleaguered narrative.

  3. John 51 seriously… Spartans would not stand a chance.

They would end up singing Celtic songs without a punch being thrown, and we would claim the win.

Any word from anyone who visitited the fanzone on Sunday?

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

    Visited might be wrong word.

We park just off Nuneaton st

On Advice of youngest in our motley crew we went up Celtic way

and round back of Rangers end( I protested it was at out normal turnstyles

Celtic end North Stand at Janefield st)

After walking all way around ground I was correct.

Got there about 12:35 and was a queue to get in basically 1 in 1 out.

We were right at front of queue when security said they would stop serving at 1

and told my mate we would be better going to Kerrydale suite.

I thought just wait and get a couple of rounds. But one of my mates

said no go to Kerrydale. Left front of queue ambled over to the suite

to be told private function no plebs allowed.

    Typical Celtic

Driver was more gutted than rest of us as we were all

a bit delicate from day before but everyone but driver had managed a few

    on way in,

So got to see fanzone through fence

Ragin statement FC and their Hibernian rant of 24th April was noted at the time as embarrassing, but

they and only they, could go on to compound the situation by citing increased demand which was exactly why

    Hibs cut their allocation.

I genuinely fear for Jim Traynor’s sanity.

    Away Allocation

I posted in 2010 that Rainjurz ( as they were then ) should have had their ticket allocation for Celtic Park withdrawn due entirely Sectarian songs and specifically The Famine Song ( banter ).Had tit for tat followed

we’d have banned them and told the world why.

Instead alot has happened no least Rainjurz demise and the birth of Sevco, who’ve effectively banned the Celtic

support because they keep getting pumped.

  9. Follow the money as the saying goes. Huns will sell season tickets in the Broomloan on the promise thems will get Celtic matches bringing cash up front which they desperately need. They knew full well Celtic would reciprocate therefore it also saves them their annual six figure repair bill for Celtic Park. Worth bearing in mind, if they make the top 6, final game against them at Ibrox wont be until end of April 19’, the £500k cheque won’t land till May. They can’t wait that long for the money.

They love playing to the gallery and this also ticks that box. In the end they will reverse the decision if not next year then soon after.

I’ve been to all of the previous matches at Ibrox, paid the £49 and went like I do all other games Celtic play. I won’t get a ticket next year, disappointed to miss two Celtic matches but couldn’t care less about going there and £100 saved.

  11. The Celtic statement was clever in many ways. One being that we haven’t actually mentioned any numbers here, leaving the door open for the Ibrox mob to backtrack on the advice of police and then shout to their fans “we tried”.

My own personal view? Treat the same as we treat our main rivals, Aberdeen. Give then whatever number the Dons get, charge them the same price as every other visiting team, £29 (not as if WE need the money) and see what they do in return.

    Time for a sleep…

  12. All Celtic Supporter’s, should tell Celtic Football Club,we think its for our fans 800,away at Ibrox, that the safety of our supporter’s, that we decline their ticket allocation, and the same with their fans at Celtic Park,

Just saw your post mate. Your arithmetic is correct of course. It’s currently 114 v 104. But they are citing 118 trophies which includes the divisional titles plus their solitary Ramsden Cup win.

The sooner we make 55 titles the better. 6 to go. As things stand we look certs but you can never tell what’s around the corner.

    ??????? Every Bloody Trophy ???

Now have tried to post twice earlier and got taken to I’ve won an iPad

    So

I see Dickson still at the SFA ? Never mind Hughes ( who has no official connection to the champions other than being a huge fan)

Now new SFA CEO, your first duty should be protecting the integrity of the SFA

Mr Dickson was the man who it appears fudged the application for his former team in2011 & 2012? You know the club being investigated

And also now applying with for a licence with his new club

Maybe you should be investigating this individuals role

John Kennedy is a DJ as well? Didn’t think he had the time wonder does Brendan know

JC2 thanks for the feedback mate looks like plenty of room for improvement early days I suppose

  21. One other thing

I pay for a season ticket, and knowingly pay to miss 2 games a season

This is where KevJ is right, Celtic should never have recognised this new club, by giving them 7500 tickets for our ground, and treat their fans different from all other SPFL clubs

We are now letting them set an agenda

Celtic please take this lead in some very key issues in relation to your own fans

At least I may be able to attend an additional 2 games I already pay for

    Incidentally my simple sums

    7500 tickets at an extra £19 = £142500

We then loose out on additional Policing cost, damage to our stadium, sales of windfall tickets, programmes and catering, suggest we make an extra £100k for these games

    Not worth the hassle Celtic

    Look after your own fans
