Sebastian Tounekti again caught the eye as Celtic cruised past Partick Thistle in yesterday’s League Cup quarterfinal, but the game was more notable for the creators of all four goals, rather than the names on the scoresheet. Bejamin Nygren’s deliveries led to headed goals from Yang and Liam Scales. Poor deliveries from the wing were a feature of Celtic’s play for much of last season. We can all agree than Benji is not a winger, but his crossing is a joy.
Kelechi Iheanacho put on a simple but very effective performance – was always available for the pass, controlled the ball and laid it off. This sounds easy but, just with the poor crossing we suffered last season, was a persistent problem for Celtic.
Thistle were thoroughly softened up before Michel-Ange Balikwisha setup Luke McCowan for the final goal. The Belgian snatched at a good chance to open his scoring account moments earlier. Four goals assisted by new signings is an unusual stat to record.
Our semi-final draw is a repeat of last year’s final, in which Celtic edged Newco on penalties after a 3-3 draw, with Motherwell facing St Mirren in the other semi. The semis take place during the Europa League campaign, when squads are stretched by two games a week. We will rely on some of the fringe players who stepped up yesterday.

SHAMEFUL!!! Celtic Board Look Away Whilst Fans Launch Protest Against Them
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i-UUI_JCvXA
DENIABHOY – “We know what happened, we know they were liquidated, we know their history is a farce and so on and so forth, but seriously, do you not think if Ange, Brendan and Neil can refer to them as Rangers, we can too?”
—-
I can’t and won’t. Not simple pedantry – it’s a different club, therefore it needs a different name; although that is true. My objection goes far deeper than that. The systematic cheating for years and years, the building up of unrepayable debts, the tax avoidance undergone self-consciously and shamlessly to buy and pay players they couldn’t afford, forcing other clubs including ours to try to compete at the risk of our own existence. And then a massive cover up and act of collective denial by the establishment and the SMSM, resulting in the survival myth that leaves tarnished titles in place. For me, all of those wrongdoings are encapsulated in, and lent credence by, one word – R*******, and I will never use it.
‘Tribute act’ for me. Although off here I use less pleasant words. I’m a middle aged guy of mild temperament but my anger at 2012 and what went before remains unabated.
shamelessly – typo.

Is it not THE INTERNATIONAL RANGERS.
Only askin.

Just saw Eire scoring against engerland.Do you know if V A R checked the penalty.
The latest fans collective protests – I do not quite know what to make of it.
I like the idea of all fans groups coming together to have a united front, and co-ordinated visual and noisy events,
but I am puzzled some as to how effective it will be, and being a “collective” and going for dmecratic votes from the 23 representatives, well I just wonder how you acheive consensus and who the leaders actually are.
Caught up with the podcasts today and it is still a lot of talking but I ponder what really is the objectives ?
Remove the 3 executives (I believe the sports lawyer will be expecting a huge payoff), and who replaces them, who is acceptable to the collective ? who should be chairman in their opinion, what is acceptable for a ceo objectives (is it only champions league football ?, should we run at a lostt to avoid paying tax etc etc).
Fans representative on the board who should it be ?
I did find the Paul Smith ACSOM interview very interesting, he says we need more structure not less, younger , smarter people in places, critically he doesnt diss the board, he just says we need more people in the right places, and a different structure.
I do think those who came off the HCTS have real hard game days to come, having taken themselves off they will miss the ballot for the Hampden semi. They will have a choice take up single tickets for the 4 europa or watch on tv.
Lastly, a little bit tongue in cheek but, the paper protest, could they not have asked everyone to keep their sheets for further protest, What a waste of paper, and not very green on the old recycling.
What next , no point in doing anything in Zagreb, so where are we next ?
Hibs game sold out buy the way, so the 5000 or so public sale tickets gets bums on seats, lets see if they join in any protest at celtic park, and lets see if the 1500 season book holders who dont attend actually turn up, or are joined by more stay aways.
I also re-read all the verbage in the annual statement, the chairman is going no where,
I do think those who came off the HCTS have real hard game days to come, having taken themselves off they will miss the ballot for the Hampden semi.
sorry – they will miss a hun-skelping and a league cup final.
and a buy the way, was there some skiffles at firhill for thrills ? anyone wintness any bother ?
Favourite Uncle – The official business name of the football club itself is The Rangers Football Club Limited (company number SC425159), though the holding company for the club is Rangers International Football Club PLC (company number SC437060).
Rangers International Football Club Limited also recently replaced the PLC as the trading entity for the group as of May 2025.
SS- The ‘ballot’ for Hampden games is never a fair shake, like all away games GB get their tickets, why?
Was very intersting that the official statements alongside the accounts referenced some failings in recruitment/ player trading.
Specifically, ‘strategy, timing and execution’.
Nothing on the identification of potential new signings was mentioned as needing to improve.
Would be good to have a lead article and open discussion on this, though many opinions are fairly determined already.
I see this as the biggest challenge to face the club in the medium term. FSR has upped the ante
Bhoys Town – thanks for your thoughts. it’s a free world (just about) and you have good reasons for your decision. As per my post, I was wondering if it is a CQN thing now rather than a widespread viewpoint. When you hear a full Celtic Park belting out “if you hate the fkn rangers clap your hands” and all our players, and ex-players managers and ex-managers referring to them as Rangers, it makes me think most are ok with calling the team playing in blue at Ibrox Rangers (amongst many other things).
Rodger’s managed Swansea, the first Welsh team, to promotion to the Premier League in England. He managed one of the biggest clubs in the world in Liverpool and would have won the thing had it not been for slippy g.
Rodger normalised trebles for celtic and since his return has won a couple of doubles. Rodger’s led leister to their first FA Cup, the Community Shield, and two fifth-place Premier League finishes and a second place finish before the team was gutted by the board and declined. Somefolk may not like rodger’s but he is far from an under 23 manager.
Happy with the supporters keeping up the pressure on the board. There are to many incidents of failure to bury. To many times we are told the board are looking at improving things and learning yet when its put to the test they generally fail. Continued failure can’t go unaddressed year on year.
Last thing, there are lots of teams in various sports called rangers, just like the team playing out of ibrox they are not the same club. Glasgow rangers were liquidated, the new incarnation took the name, got buy in from the same fans and so we are where we are. The celtic supporters did not like the old club or fans and we dont like the new club or fans. All this episdoe shows me is unlike the old and new club fans can transfer as can disdain and hate for those that follow.

Poor Yang even his goals are underwhelming
RIP Eurochamps 67 (reported this morning on previous blog).
I thought Yang was great yesterday. Fast, strong, confident and his decision-making more incisive.
Maybe this is Brendan’s new strategy for developing players. Hold them by the ankles over the English championship just as the transfer window closes. ‘Up your game laddie or next time I really will sell you.’

*some folk like me didnae like him for the way he walked out on us just before 2 visits to the capital where he had struggled before, but when I heard he was coming back to replace the much loved ange who had also walked out on us but waited until the season had ended, I just turned the other cheek, but NOT so the GB as they had banners out for his first home game reminding him of what he had done.

Your accusation that I and perhaps TBB are indulging in scaremongering iro FSR rankles with me.

It was repeated on SC to which I replied
https://sentinelcelts.com/2025/09/22/back-to-hampden-2/#comment-404437
I then took you up on the scaremongering accusation to which I replied
https://sentinelcelts.com/2025/09/22/back-to-hampden-2/comment-page-2/#comment-404448
and then went on to clarify in that reply Celtic’s policy as outlined in the statement you used was NOT Peter Lawwell’s strategy but the The Board’s. PLs job was to execute it.
I note in that reply I made the same capacity point that was raised in the ACSOM interview with Paul Smith.
My views on where the profit is going are at https://sentinelcelts.com/2025/09/22/back-to-hampden-2/comment-page-2/#comment-404449 for full context but I will copy here.
My reading is that profit from selling players helps meet the wage bill for players already in situe with 4 year contracts which the support prefer to losing them.
Buying low and selling high from that perspective, and everyone has their own, is why I’ve used the hamster in the wheel strategy and I would suggest that we are where we are right now because the hamster was not pedalling fast enough.
is that a reasonable perception?
At the end of the day I think we might have come to same conclusion: the execution of the policy needs revisited and revised to become fit for purpose.

Of course the SFA grant UEFA licences. If you have the time and inclination you can read how badly they did it to give Rangers a shout at avoiding administration / liquidation in 2011.
They never reckoned on Malmo or Maribor or Sherriff Officers turning up at Ibrox with warrants to collect tax overdue just before UEFA looked at the first monitoring submission of June 2011 in Sept 2011.
https://res12.uk/part-3/ and e mail from SFA to Rangers after they AND UEFA agreed to accept a false monitoring submission in Sept 2011.

….
Pretty sure ‘ strategy , timing and execution’ just about covers everything. For example , Hammarby having a good season trying to stay in Europe got papped out on 14 Aug (Rosenberg) , 6 days before we play Kazakhs… seems to me that chasing a star forward for another team 2nd in their league and also in Europe until 14th Aug would not be a sound strategy or anything else you’d like to call it. Same situation with the Dolberg fella …..

Considering the important nature of the situation, I found that e-mail incredible.
It was along the lines of:
Hello mate, here`s what you can do ( and we`ll help) to avoid paying your dues.
Your Old Pal,
Keith.
Managers, coaches and players etc leave clubs all the time, its how football works let’s be honest warning 3x your current wages for doing the same job incentives most folk. If the get poached that means they are going something right and we are getting well rewarded on and off the pitch. Other supporters will have differing views, that life.

there was an incident outisde the main stand after the game. just heard a noise of someone hitting the deck. it was young team action, no colours on any of them so no idea who was who!

Out of the last 75 league titles these clubs ,combined, have competed for in the last 15 years….they have won a grand total of 23.
That’s a percentage of 31pc.
That’s like Celtic winning 5 leagues since 2010.
Try selling 50k season tickets a year with they numbers.
Call me a Celtic da….but I just want to win the league every year.
If you think that growing in European football whilst losing the league every couple of years will work, then I would say you’re crazy/ignorant/deluded.
Plus…..HTF are we going to get into the CL if we’re not winning the league?
Seems that some people don`t like Christians
@TraditionSarah
Start calling out the indoctrination loudly!! A college TEXTBOOK labeling Christianity as a white supremacist group, is so beyond disgusting.

I think Bigrailroadblues was referring to the other Kev moniker between your posts.
Aye
Apologies Laxalt as Paul said.
from The Celtic Way….
“Former Rangers midfielder Hamed Namouchi with a timely interview. ✍🏻
Namouchi believes that Celtic winger Sebastian Tounekti can realise his dream of playing for Tunisia at the World Cup finals next summer.”
so in case you wanted to know what an ex-hun midfielder thinks about one of our players.
honestly man 🤦🏻♂️
Like St Stivs earlier, I wonder how democracy is going to operate within the Celtic Reform organisation. Given that some of its champions appear to operate blogs that reject alternative viewpoints and block anyone who disagrees with their opinion, it does not bode well for the development of a democratic structure.
However, it might work if all the leaders are “loons” as opposed to “twats”.
Just for the record Bayern Munich pissed on Chelsea – World Club Champions , easily beat PSG BTW
Not saying anything, just saying
