Celtic rested a goalkeeper, four defenders, two central midfielders, a striker and a winger, but were able to shine on against Championship Raith Rovers. The 5-0 scoreline reflected the gap between clubs at the top of the Premiership and those mid-table in the division below. Rovers manager Barry Robson is only six weeks in the job and is the third manager the club have had this season. A turnaround will not be easy.
Raith sit two points below Queen’s Park, although the Kirkcaldy side have a game in hand. Queen’s also have the burden of a Scottish Cup quarterfinal to contend with (in case you missed some of the weekend’s results).
Queen’s are in a miserable run of form. They have lost five and drawn one and won one of their seven league games in the last two months. Manager Callum Davidson seemed to have hit the wall, but can rely on his old modus operandi of winning Scottish Cup ties at Ibrox to keep himself in a job for a few weeks yet.
Saturday was the 25th anniversary of a pivotal moment in our modern history. Championship side Inverness Caledonian Thistle knocked Celtic out of the Scottish Cup on 8 February 2000. Celtic knew they could do better and the following day manager John Barnes was sacked.
When a club considers sacking their manager this is always the crucial question: Can we do better, or is this acceptable? I will go out on a limb here and predict Newco will not sack Philippe Clement after yet another humiliation. Results like this are now accepted at Ibrox. In a few years, the fans will be comfortably numb, humiliations will no longer hurt.
“Money”, is often Phil’s cited defence, but he was unable to rely on that excuse last night. He also diverted blame away from himself and to the players, saying, “Today was nothing to do with tactics. It’s about the quality of the moment.” Which is an interesting strategy. His claim that Newco players “wanted it too much” suggests he had yet to watch a reply of Jefte at the Queen’s goal.
And that penalty kick! Referee Calum Scott; hmmmm.

Hello ?
2nd
The penalty has gone under the radar. It was jaw dropping – even by Scottish standards.
Paul: ‘When a club considers sacking their manager this is always the crucial question…’
Surely over at Brokesville/Broguesville, the other crucial question has to be money based?
Ie; if we have to pay this Darkseeker and his entourage aff, who could we afford that might make a silk purse out of this sow’s ear of a squad? Some big shot from Engerland who will accept no transfer budget ??
As a few Hun vloggers have bleated today… ‘It’s season ticket renewal time soon and many will not buy into Clemmongt’s crap any more.’
If the crucial question is not about money, does this mean Paddy Stewart has righted the Good Ship Penury already ?
Their penalty yesterday reminded me of the one awarded by the linesman to the Greek cheat at Tyncastle when they needed a result.
Delighted to see they were unable to cheat their way to a result this time.
Spanish officials and the king of fake injuries is what faces us on Wednesday .
Special praise is owed to the Queens Park captain/keeper Callum Ferrie.
What a series of stunning reflex shot-stops.
Well played fella !
Honestly,I would have wanted a penalty.Might not have got it,but that’s a different story.
Dessers, had a chance of getting to the ball, when Montgomery landed on his back, knocking him down. Not a protest from Montgomery.I would be screaming for a penalty. What time it was given is is immaterial.1st minute or last.I watched the re-run of the game.
Have they not suffered enough
Davidson wont be sacked. Haughey will see sense.

Imagine Derek Ferguson grappling with Quadratic equations , Trig and Calculus ? 🤪
Good balance sheets make good managers. Our old pals across in Govan are a long way from being able to appoint a manager who is, or will become, good. A reputational disaster awaits anyone daft enough to take that job. No shortage of misplaced ego in fitba…. Someone will be next up at some stage.
Nice work Paul, have a cigar

Yes I remember THAT Penalty decision v Hearts, when the GREEK CHUMP called ” KYRIOKAS” ( or something like that ?) threw himself to the the turf in an blatant cheating dive in the final minutes of the game.
Wasnt he also responsible for acting like a big Jessie when Motherwell beat the Huns 6-2 in a Promotion Play Off, and he played up to the Hun fans by trying to show that he was a ” Real Fighter” who cared about being gubbed/humilated 6- 2 on aggregate while wearing the Hun Jersey ?
Didnt he get his MAMMY to speak up on his “Defence” for his violent behaviour in the Media soon afterwards ?
He was GUILTY of giving ” BIG JESSIES” a bad name after that Motherwell game !
LOL
HH.
Billy Jug Ears and Dick Foster on Sportscene saying it was a stonewall pen and I for one believe them. Awarded after allotted injury time had elapsed.
To think they played a full team.
My Greek spelling is very poor Today….I must do better.
KYRIOKAS, KYIROKAS or maybe KYROIKAS ????
Feck it…who cares ?
LOL

My big question about whether a manager should be sacked is “Are we Shite?”
The Huns have a FULL WEEK to ” STEW” on the defeat to Queens Park yesterday as they don’t have a mid week game.
They don’t have a mid week game to somehow get the Queens Park game ” out of their system” before facing Hearts at Swinecastle on Sunday which MAY ALSO work against them ?
Surely a defeat against Hearts will mean the end for the Belgian Waffler…unless he is sacked before then ?
If Clement gets sacked, there is always ALEX RAE or McCOIST standing staunchly by to take his place ?
LOL.

I watched der hun versus the Spiders game……..I streamed it from the web !
Big Jimmy…not only your spelling is poor :-) your memory is too. That was the Tunisian player Bilel Moshni at Fir Park who had the fight with Lee Erwin after the final whistle…
Good memories are so yesterday…

LOL.
Thank you for correcting me…I also blame the LACK of drink in the last 10 days.
HH Mate.
Amid all the laughing and jocularity about the huns and how bad they were, just remember how much effort the Queen’s players put into that performance. Poor as they have been in the league, they and their manager Calum Davidson deserve great credit for winning at Castle Greyskull and putting great big smiles on the faces of millions of hun haters…
Don’t sack big Phil, lurch lookin Phil
I just don’t think you’ll understand
And if you sack big Phil, baldy big Phil
You’ll take oot all the fun in Fitba land
Ok I’ll get ma denim jaisket and get out of here

The Queens Park victory makes you think about being a football supporter.
We expect to win trophies and moan (I’m the worst) when we lose the odd game or get put out of a cup.
The followers of clubs like Queens Park, Albion Rovers, Forfar and Rangers rarely have days like yesterday.
I hope those supporters enjoy it and celebrate it for the rest of their days.
Radio phone in’s should be a delight tonight.
As someone said, that was their strongest 11,playing against a very mediocre struggling Championship side.Recently gubbed 6-0,no wins in last 6.Brilliant.Be great if we drew them at Celtic Park, took a barrowload off them, and sent them home with a hefty cheque.

I started watching their game around the 65th minute, just in time to see QP score. I assumed that the r2ngers would hit back quickly but they truly were awful. So many wayward shots and misplaced passes. QP were running on empty, but the low block stood firm. Ferrie’s run of good saves were mostly in the last 10 minutes, he was rarely troubled before then.
But all of us have a sense of the inevitable, we have grown up knowing that r2ngers and last minute penalties go together like ham and eggs. Merited or not.
The penalty save was excellent, not unlike Kasper’s at Hampden. Full stretch and down low. They were desperate to disallow it for the keeper being off his line, A heel was enough.
There were some great clips of the dressing room celebrations on X with Daniel Boone’s Beautiful Sunday being belted out.
Big Phil will be terminated at 20:15 this Wednesday

WARNING to BAYERN FANS in Glesga.
You will do well to AVOID any Hun Pubs before/during/after the game with Celtic on Wednesday as the Hun drinkers will be in a very UGLY MOOD after being gubbed by Queens Park in the Cup.
LOL.
HH.
I must have went on youtube and put in every scenario I could think of to watch their pain from the game yesterday. I even had my ” SuperQueensParkbeat the Huns the rangersareatrocious” Thinking no one else will be thinking like me:)))) I loved the discoland celebrations in their dressing room. From what I can remember of Queens Park from way back in the day, their teams were always supremely fit and never stopped running. That team yesterday just worked so hard for each other and threw their bodies in front of everything. Big Phil Showed his tactical know how by taking off his best attacking midfielder and replacing him with a left back. Now getting back to the good side, I though we played very well against Raith. Daizen is on a rich vein of form , not that he doesn’t always give his best, but his scoring and lethalness in front of goal has been taken up a notch. I really like the look of young Kenny. We cannot take our foot off the gas and can shock the world on Wednesday against Baron Munchausen.
Tis a great time to be a Celtic fan, but then again, it always has been.
Hail Hail. First time yesterday I have ever sang God Save the Queens, apart from the Sex Pistols and feeling like I was a bad ass at age 7.

There seems to be a lot of noise around whether rangers have won three of the last 27, 39 or 42 major domestic trophies.
To clarify, as Celtic won the Scottish Cup Final on 21 May 2011, the weekend after rangers clinched the league title, and Celtic have already won this season’s League Cup, rangers have won three of the last FORTY ONE domestic trophies. And should Celtic (as expected) lift both the SPL and Scottish Cup this season, rangers’ tally will be 3 out of 43 trophies. For comparison, Celtic will have won 30/43.
Technically, it may have been an infringementt/penalty or whatever but, had the roles been reversed, there is no way that Queens would have been awarded a spot kick.
The situation at Tynecastle all those years ago was different. The linesman then signalled for a foul which absolutely had never taken place. Without that penalty Rangers would not have won the title that year. Mystifying decisions by ‘impartial’ officials have consquences.
FRITZSONG, rangers have had far fewer penalties this season than in past seasons, so they must have been hard done by this season. But we all know that (allegedly) these things even themselves out in the long run, so I’m sure they’ll get more than their fair share in the next season that they actually amount a tangible challenge (if they ever do). 😄
Think next season we’ll have the full end back at their place. Season ticket sales will determine their need for the money from our fans as theirs won’t be showing up, especially now they’ve moved the Onion Bears to the Copeland Road stand, por cierto.
