CUP DRAW: CELTIC v RANGERS

0

CELTIC will play Rangers in the Premier Sports League Cup semi-final in a re-enactment of last season’s dramatic finale at Hampden.

Brendan Rodgers’ men won on penalty-kicks on that occasion and will be hoping to get the job done on this occasion without the heart-stopping conclusion.

The holders made certain of their place in the last four with a solid 4-0 win over Championship outfit Partick Thistle at Firhill this afternoon.

GOAL-DEN MOMENT…new Bhoy Sebastian Tounetki is about to be congratulated by Yang Hyun-jun after scoring his first – and Celtic’s third – in the 4-0 win at Firhill.

There was never any doubt of the outcome and the visitors led 2-0 at the interval following a couple of headers from Yang Hyun-jun and Liam Scales. New Bhoy Sebastian Tounetki grabbed his first goal for the champions with a fine finish shortly after the turnaround.

And it was left to Luke McCowan to cap a good performance on tricky conditions with the fourth strike 11 minutes from the end.

The Ibrox side managed to reach the semi following a 2-0 victory over Hibs at Ibrox last night.

The other match will be contested between St Mirren and Motherwell.

The ties are due on the weekend of November 1/2.
