We lost at Ibrox in January to a team that did not record a single attempt on target, not even at the own-goal we conceded. We lost there again this month having missed a penalty and even better chances, while assisting the effort with another own-goal. Frankly, Newco must be wondering how poorly they need to play against us to lose a game. Nothing I saw from the home team in either of our recent defeats there justified fear of them.
If the old adage ’beware the straw man’ holds true, Celtic will deliver. The straw man has nothing to lose or fear. What have Celtic got to lose heading to Ibrox on Sunday? This should be the most relaxed Celtic team to head there in Newco’s 9-year history.
The dubious motivation, to stop Newco’s unbeaten run in the league, feels a bit beneath us, but still…..

There is nothing to lose in the next three games, so why play the likes of Kenny, Laxalt, Christie & Edouard?
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Except a Derby match? Broonie’s farewell against the new club. Oh sorry…………
got me too – hook, line and sinker.
……………..
100% Correct mate.
There will be one or two from here that will be glued to their TV Sets, in their Castore Kit and Union Jack Tea Mugs in hand…shouting for the Huns and hoping and praying that French Eddie in particular, misses a few easy chances so that not only do the Huns win…but their Penny Bets come “UP” into the bargain.
One of the best Celtic Bets that Ive ever had wasnt just the ODDS and winnings from William Hill I that got…but the sheer DELIGHT in watching Celtic gub the Huns yet again.
Just before the season started ( Im trying to remember what year, but it was under martin ONeill etc), I placed a Bet a week before we were due to play the Huns in the 1st league game that season
the Bet was for Celtic to beat The Old Rangers in each of the FOUR League games that season ?
I got Odds of 28/1.
that was the season when Celtic ALSO Gubbed the Huns 1-0 at Celtic Park in the Scottish Cup, with Henrik scoring the winner…so we actually beat them 5 times in that ONE Season. The last ” Leg” of that Bet was Big Suttys very late screamer at Celtic Park which we also won 1-0.
We also beat them in the first League game the following season, and I seem to remember that it was actually 7 Victories in a Row, as I think Celtic beat them in the last encounter the season BEFORE that FAMOUS FIVE Victory Season ?
As it worked out… in effect I had Odds of 28/1 for Celtic to beat the Huns in 90 minutes in the last of the Four League games that season. I obviously could include the Scottish Cup victory, as I wouldnt have got any odds, because no one knew IF Celtic would meet them in the Scottish Cup.
the Day that I placed the Bet, I was with everal mates in the Pub before a Celtic game, and I showed them my Betting slip with the Odds of 28/1.
Straight after the Bet came up, I headed to ther Pub to meet some of my mates, and a coupel were angry with themselves that they ahdnt put on the same Bet…some EIGHT Months earlier !
LOL
Great days, although I had to buy a lot of drink that night…
LOL
HH
Here we go again, Friday night before a Hun game and the McGinn Toney saga raises its ugly heid.
Correction…I could NOT have included the Scottish Cup game that season.
Setting Free etc
Fair comment. Thanks.

They won the league Paul. Mainly due to the ridiculous decisions made by the board you back so fully.
Beneath us? Talk about entitled?
Seems we have nearly a full blog with memory problems when it comes to Mc Ginn.
For the last time,we bid 2.25 million for him, when no one else was interested. The Hibs chairman,no friend of ours, said it was way to low. With still no one else bidding,he then lost the plot and informed Celtic,if they wanted him,it was now 4 million, not a penny less.At the time, nearly every Celtic fan,was of the “Eff off”opinion. The thing was,Neil Lennon, then Hibs manager agreed with the 4 million evaluation. It was clear Petrie was not selling to us.He let the player go down to Villa, without a price being mentioned,to look around, and OKd,a deal worth 2.75 million.Celtic matched the offer, but Mc Ginn chose Villa.
These were the facts at the time, and for once,I believe PL was right not to be blackmailed by Uber Mason,Petrie.Might not suit many agendas, but that is how it went down.
Mc Ginn chose Villa.

Sonsoferin
Some decent players in there – I think Bayo could be a star for us, but St Etienne are sniffing around so he may see that as his best move at this stage in his career.
Kara is a bit of a punt category player – he’s 25 but seems to have only played 69 games. Maybe just a late bloomer but it’s not many for a guy that age.

Strange then that poor Peter’s valiant role in this caused the beginning of the breakdown between him and Rodgers.
Poor Peter tried his best but that bounder McGinn and Hibs were the problem.

Turkeybhoy, That’s how I remember the matter too.
*Aye me tae but lets not stop the gas meter haters fae spewing their diatribe.
At the time I posted that having a grampa who was a former Chairman he may have been privy tae the unrest at the club at the time caused by the narcissistic fraud and chose tae play elsewhere.
There is a poster on the Huddleboard who is a close friend of McGinn.
He kept everyone in the know during the summer of the lowball offers over several weeks from Lawwell.
This is what he said today.
‘His (McGinn’s) version of events is 100% true.
I spoke to him plenty that summer and it was a matter of when not if he would be at Celtic based on what he had been told by the club.
The Villa thing came up suddenly right at the end of the window. He couldn’t keep waiting on Celtic in the hope something would happen.’
Turkeybhoy, are you aware that Lawwell matched the Villa bid when McGinn was inside Villa Park to sign?
Similar to what Lawwell done with McNamara at Wolves?
All this to try to save face and make out it was the players fault.
Spidey – Wiki has Kara at around 220 games, I think he spent some early years bouncing around lower/regional leagues which Transfermarkt don’t show.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ercan_Kara
I like a striker who has demonstrated consistent goalscoring while rising through the leagues and doesn’t miss a beat when they eventually arrive in a top division, one of the reasons I”m a fan of Kevin Nisbet at Hibs.
COYBIG Time to finish the season with a memory to be proud of – let Broonie and Griff have a laugh.

Don’t you think that we could trust a managers judgement who had brought in a 100 million turnover and seen us 30 million in the black while overseeing trebles and who prioritised McGinn that summer to see that he had the ability to blossom as he has?
Paul 67
The only possible reason for optimism is the law of averages.
Not just the side, but the club presently is an empty husk, and its not a good sign that James Forrest is the saviour in waiting, although he’ll at least still be here when the dreaded diamond isn’t. Forrest will bring natural width, and has the beating of Barasic, if he keeps his head down. Likely starters Edouard MOI or Christie owe us much more than a cameo, but who would bet on it after the season’s sh*t show.
Celtic 14 Sevco 7 in wins since 2012 and although Celtic players have scored more goals than thems in the fixture this season, a draw or narrow defeat is the best John Kennedy will achieve, and waiting for a Celtic to turn up, has gone season, to next season.
We’ve come a long way since 5-0 on fifty three minutes, and its been downhill all the way.
McGinn chose Villa after speaking to BR on the phone for 40 minutes.

Laxalt
Where was McGinn when the call took place?
Laxalt
If McGinn took a call at Villa Park from Rodgers while he was there to sign for them then all you are doing is highlighting how dreadfully the club was being run from Lawwell, who had months to get the deal done for the player Rodgers prioritised for the CL qualifiers that summer, and who had to rely on Rodgers to try to bail him out.
Unbelievable.
There should be no such thing as a couldn’t care who wins game against the Govan Works X1. Having said that the article is an insult to our intelligence
Spherical objects belonging to your father’s sister andubsequent different blood realationships thereof spring to mind.
If I could play fitba I could play for Celtic should be in the same paragraph. They are organised no more no less we are disorganised
Hope we get organised but doubt it
Still hope to beat them though.
Still talking about McGinn.
What about David Ginola?
I still hate that git 😉
SFTB- bit of a cheap shot re McGinn, but he ho,not Lawwell’s fault
A dangerous team with nothing more to lose..

Scottish Premier League – Lost

Lambert… I take your point and yes he was in Birmingham.
However…. Petrie was being a bigoted knob- he just kept saying no and when asked, he refused to even state a price.
PL thought he could play a blinder by getting the player to ask/demand a move to Celtic or sign a PC in 16 weeks.
Lawwell made an arse of it but even then I reckon BR could have salvaged it in the phone call but to spite Lawwell he mentioned our strong midfield and the riches and lifestyle in England.
BR complained to DD about transfers taking too long and he was then given carte blanche to sign McKenna.
He phoned McIness and he, McIness made it clear he wasn’t going to be sold to us.
BR offered £5m and they still said no.
Lawwell’s point to BR was…. Offer what you want but sometimes it’s not quite so simple.
All just my opinion.
Bada-I read McGinns version of events.
I honestly don’t think he was that fussed about joining us.
If he really wanted to play for us,and I mean really wanted to.
He could have said Villa thanks but no thanks 🤷🏽♂️
