Dangerous teams with nothing to lose

482

We lost at Ibrox in January to a team that did not record a single attempt on target, not even at the own-goal we conceded.  We lost there again this month having missed a penalty and even better chances, while assisting the effort with another own-goal.  Frankly, Newco must be wondering how poorly they need to play against us to lose a game.  Nothing I saw from the home team in either of our recent defeats there justified fear of them.

If the old adage ’beware the straw man’ holds true, Celtic will deliver.  The straw man has nothing to lose or fear.  What have Celtic got to lose heading to Ibrox on Sunday?  This should be the most relaxed Celtic team to head there in Newco’s 9-year history.

The dubious motivation, to stop Newco’s unbeaten run in the league, feels a bit beneath us, but still…..

They couldn’t have replaced the main culprits, the players.

However, by your reasoning if DD, PL & the board are to blame for this season’s disaster – then they must be the reason we won nine in a row & a quadruple treble…….you can’t have it both ways.

The convoluted & somersaulting logic of the board-haters defies all logic.

Then of course you can’t reason people out of a belief that they have not reasoned themselves into.

Seems we have nearly a full blog with memory problems when it comes to Mc Ginn.

For the last time,we bid 2.25 million for him, when no one else was interested. The Hibs chairman,no friend of ours, said it was way to low. With still no one else bidding,he then lost the plot and informed Celtic,if they wanted him,it was now 4 million, not a penny less.At the time, nearly every Celtic fan,was of the “Eff off”opinion. The thing was,Neil Lennon, then Hibs manager agreed with the 4 million evaluation. It was clear Petrie was not selling to us.He let the player go down to Villa, without a price being mentioned,to look around, and OKd,a deal worth 2.75 million.Celtic matched the offer, but Mc Ginn chose Villa.

These were the facts at the time, and for once,I believe PL was right not to be blackmailed by Uber Mason,Petrie.Might not suit many agendas, but that is how it went down.

    Mc Ginn chose Villa.

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

That’s how I see too. Did any of us really think John McGinn would blossom the way he did?

    ——-

🙋🏻‍♂️ Actually I did. When I watched him boss Scott B all over the pitch while playing for St Mirren at Celtic Park. A total 90 minute nuisance he was. Like watching Scrappy Doo hounding Scooby Doo, just as Broonie had done to NFL in the previous generation.

Fannies Ar Us contrived to let him slip through the net.

It’s no surprise that we gave up the 10 in a gutless, de-energised, non McGinn fashion.

If John McGinn had signed for us, what would his value be worth now ?

Like the rest he would have had a carcrash of a season and his value would have plummeted.

Hypothetically compare and contrast his value where he is now and what it could have been if he had joined us.

    My friends in Celtic,

As politics have started early again.

I have no issue with welcoming Tories to Paradise. It is not incompatible to be a Tory and a passionate Celtic man. Eg Ronnie Simpson, one of our hero’s.

    Quote.

“A spokesperson said: “Since its formation in 1888, Celtic has been a club open to all people, with a renowned tradition and ethos of openness and diversity”

Furthermore it is nonsensical to ignore the fact that the SNP face both ways.

In the North of Scotland and the borders they have a Conservative approach.

In Tayside and the West of Scotland they adopt a more socialist approach.

This approach is understandable if they want to win seats, but it is unbelievably niave to think that you will eradicate conservatism if you vote SNP.

They are not called Tartan Tories for nought.

Subsequently, I sometimes wonder just who is the worst of the two for the Scotland I desire.

    HH to all.

  16. BIG JIMMY

Thanks for the invite. I’ll try and get a half day and meet you there. If not I’ll appear after work around 4 if that’s ok.

  17. Could it be that Celtic players and management won the Quad Treble in SPITE of the Celtic Board ?

At least SOME of the Titles and Cups……of course that might be the case ?

I WAS a Labour Voter and Union Man for most years until 2009 onwards, I still enjoy the company of Labour Voters…and even some Tories along the way ( as long as they behaved themselves), I KNOW that Ronnie Simpson was a Tory councillor in Edinburgh…maybe Old Faither did so very good things for his community despite being a Tory….and if he was good enough man for The Lions and Jock Stein…who am I to argue ?

It’s worth remembering what Jim Mather, who at the time was an MSP for the SNP, and is now a member of their sustainable growth commission, had to say

‘Any notion that an independent Scotland would be a left wing country is delusional nonsense’.

It’s sad to see so many well intentioned but gullible people falling for the lies.

  22. lionroars67 on

I’m only posting on politics because that bad Independence man did it first……………….. pathetic

Tartan Tories……………………………Is that it ? Deary me

In 1888 Brother Walfrid knew what was bad for his parish and flock, Brother Walfrid knew who was responsible for the poverty, unemployment, and disgusting living conditions………..British imperialists and tory entitled scum

1888, Queen Victoria, Tories in Govt with a titled establishment lacky as Secretary for Scotland and Keeper of the Great Seal – The Marquess of Lothian

In an Independent Scotland under a new constitution, the people of Scotland will decide on what parties will constitute the Government of the new Independant state, democracy will be the deciding factor as it should be, NO one can predict the outcome of those elections, of course, you and your British state chums fear the thought of a free Independent Scotland choosing its own Government, I personally as a republican socialist will vote for a party close to my beliefs standing for election.

BTW Ronnie Simpson Lisbon lion hero Celtic Legend, however, the man politically did not speak for me or the vast majority of the Celtic fans base, from your inference as a fellow tory he spoke for you

By virtue of that right they freely determine their political status and freely pursue their economic, social and cultural development.
