Dangers of a league without whipping boys

792

At 1:45 yesterday afternoon the prospects of Celtic stretching their lead at the top of the table by the end of the day appeared slight.  The tide has turned in Celtic’s favour in recent weeks but leagues are hard to win and we need only think back to how many chances St Mirren peppered Fraser Forster’s goal with to appreciate the difference between winning games and dropping points.

Teams in the SPL are well organised, even eighth place St Mirren, who are on a run of poor form but apart from a couple of lapses defended well, created more chances than Celtic and played with adventure and confidence.

Celtic are the best team in the league but there will not be a single game before the end of the season in which they will be able to take anything for granted.  The result from yesterday we should pay most attention to is bottom of the league Dunfermline’s 0-3 win at Kilmarnock.  This is a league without whipping boys.

Thoughts on the newest Bruce Springsteen track and how its message relates to the UK as well as the USA

We Take Care Of Our Own

Never been a big Springsteen fan, if he is mocking the reality of the of the situation then good for him.

Their government has brought it on themselves and turning their backs to the real issues, not enough checks and balances in place for the wankers who called themselves bankers, Afghanistan, Iraq and the space race.

Your views on International football mirrors my own.

I have often stated that if it has any value at all, it would be as a showcase for young talent.

Mature players owe their energies to the clubs that pay their wages.

Of course, I was never one for flag waving allegiances and nationalism, in the first place.

No need buddy. It was a silly misunderstanding and is now sorted.

Savic (an absolute nightmare of a defender) blunders with a header. Defoe with a cool finish

  5. A thread on the huddleboard stating that if rankers lose the tax case then the club will have to pay back their debenture holders?

“huns could end up owing their fans almost £8mill if they lose their case. punters paid over 1605 each so they can have first dibs on their seat for the next 35 yrs. if huns go into admin they are entitled to get money back – 6,065 holders would be due 7.736 million”

Exactly. We, as a club, have nothing to lose and maybe even much to gain from a team GB.

If you support Scotland, good for you and good luck, but Celtic is my team and if Scotland were disbanded in favour of a UK team I wouldn’t lose any sleep over it.

Glorious goal from Bale. Curling effort from 25 yards 2-2

Mr Savic will not be a popular player in the dressing room. His blunder has brought a dead and buried Spurs right back in it

was on CM last night, new away strip for next season commemorating 125 years anniversary. 13, maybe the year of anniversary? Have to say didnt notice it last night. seemingly home strip will have same badge but the hoops will be narrower than current strip, maybe more like sporting lisbon. The top mick pointed out was, i guess, an “artists impression” of what away srtip could look like.

The number on the image of the Black/Grey hoops is 125 for the 125th Anniversary – just looks like 13 in smaller image

  11. From the Observer:

“Switzerland: Xamax owner Bulat Chagaev says he’ll fight the league’s “disgusting” decision to withdraw the club’s licence. Chagaev, who denies alleged financial irregularities and forging documents, says he can show in court that the club’s problems predate him. “This club used to be dirty. All around Xamax, there were thieves and crooks. I have documents to prove it.””

Can’t be easy, taking over a club with a history like that.

  12. If you were not in the top two and you were an SPL team – which ground do you think you’d look forward to visiting? Celtic Park or Ibrox?

I know it seems might seem like a frivilous question but I think our success this season might benefit from their poor home form.

Aberdeen have been in much better shape and went there and got nothing.

There is no fortress over there.
