Dangers of a league without whipping boys

792

At 1:45 yesterday afternoon the prospects of Celtic stretching their lead at the top of the table by the end of the day appeared slight.  The tide has turned in Celtic’s favour in recent weeks but leagues are hard to win and we need only think back to how many chances St Mirren peppered Fraser Forster’s goal with to appreciate the difference between winning games and dropping points.

Teams in the SPL are well organised, even eighth place St Mirren, who are on a run of poor form but apart from a couple of lapses defended well, created more chances than Celtic and played with adventure and confidence.

Celtic are the best team in the league but there will not be a single game before the end of the season in which they will be able to take anything for granted.  The result from yesterday we should pay most attention to is bottom of the league Dunfermline’s 0-3 win at Kilmarnock.  This is a league without whipping boys.

Had a great day mate, no prawn sandwiches but free drink before and after with a wee hot and cold buffet. in the Directors Guest Lounge.

Treated like royalty (excuse the metaphor), shown to our seats, turned round and who was two rows behind us but PL and Rod. However, not far from us and less than a stone’s throw was our favourite journalist.

I had to be reminded where we were when young Forrest scored, got a bit excited…:)

I have to say though, although I enjoyed it, I wish I could have been with the Bhoys. Those that I sat amongst are fans but not fanatics like us.

I have to record my thanks to my friends CM67, Gerry O, Sean and Tommy Craig for an enjoyable day out.

Also bumped into Smashing Milk Bottles…

  4. Looking for a reasonably priced place to stay in central(ish) Barcelona in early July, alternatively on the other side of Iberian penisnula – Lisbon, Santiago, Bilbao – would anyone recommend them as an alternative to Barca? Are they much cheaper or worth seeing. Thinking about 4 or 5 nights with wife and two weans.

    Any ideas?

Will check in later for replies. Thanks in advance.

  6. Ten Men Won The League on

More lies from the Sunday Mail are exposed

    From Talksport

Harry Redknapp has played down reports linking Spurs with a move for Celtic youngster James Forrest.

The Tottenham boss admitted having the exciting 20-year-old winger watched as he scored the opener for Neil Lennon’s side in a 2-0 win against St Mirren.

But he claimed reports claiming he had tabled a £7m bid for Forrest were wide of the mark.

“He’s a good player,” Redknapp said. “We’ve not made any bids. If we did I would speak to Neil Lennon.

“He’s a player we have watched but he belongs to Celtic.

“At the moment we’re not in the market to really do anything. We’re looking at a few options but nothing definite”

Been thinking in light grey slacks and black shoes (not brogues) very resplendent, not for the rotund of figure!

Though don’t know about the ref part, isn’t Gollum a Celtic supporting RE Teacher….nah I don’t think we have spineless folk.

  8. Afternoon not been on since the game so firstly well done to the bhoys a good 3pts in tough conditions. Defence doing it’s job and eventually ourbetter forwards will get us a goal. Mom Fraser

At the start of this run we didn’t score enough from set pieces now we only score from set pieces. It’s a funny old game. Agree with HT and TBB we were pedestrian and only going side to side until Chris and Tony came on. Chris gives us something extra going forward and Tony moves and links better with Gary.

Don’t want to spoil team spirit bringing in a big namefor 6 months ,let’s go with what we have plus promoting some of the u19s if required.

Top of the league by 4 will do for me:)

Speaking of new strips, well Mick was, I noticed that Adidas are ending their long-term relationship with Liverpool FC, ostensibly due to a perceived lack of value provided by the Reds. They are being replaced by an American company linked to the club’s new owners, for a reputed £25 million plus per annum. Over the years I have got used to teams like Liverpool and Bayern Munich wearing the Adidas style, though their efforts with Rangers were a sartorial disaster. I wonder if Liverpool will lose some of their wider appeal by switching to a less familiar design, American soccer league strips haven’t produced one classic yet.

    —————————————–

Of more concern should be the reasons why Adidas were not prepared to over-invest:

    Declining success domestically

    Declining success internationally

    Declining Attendances

Ring any bells ….if PL’s bonus is linked to shirt sponsorship, then he is stuffed.

    the long wait is over,

Jim Goodwin, the St Mirren captain, was on the radio during the game and he admitted several times that decisions had wrongly gone in his side’s favour.

Gordon, I see Jim at Croy mass every week. His wean goes to Holy Cross Croy school. Think he found it difficult yesterday to sound impartial.

Ashley tests Marlon with an accusation

Airs Monday, Jan 23 2012 at 19:00 GMT on ITV1

Marlon is shocked when Ashley arrives at the pub and accuses him of sleeping with Laurel, telling Marlon that she has admitted it. Marlon denies the accusation and Ashley realises that he is telling the truth. Later, Ashley tells Laurel that he knows they can love each other again, but she’s hurt that he had to ask Marlon before he could believe her.

Laurel tells Ashley that she was tempted by Marlon, but realises that if they are to move forward and reconcile, they will have to forgive each other. The pair make up and Ashley agrees to speak to Marlon to sort things out so they can stay in the village.

Meanwhile, Aaron has slept on Hazel’s sofa and Bob is concerned about her plans to take him travelling. When Aaron goes round later, he sees that all of Hazel’s boxes are packed. She finally plucks up the courage to ask him to go with her. Aaron leaves hastily and takes out his anguish by hurting himself – wanting relief from the pressure he feels.

Elsewhere, Moira’s plan works when John is asked to supply the pub’s meat, Declan wants Jai to make up with Nikhil, while Charity asks Cain for help in getting Debbie at her wedding – apologising for leaving him on the night he was attacked.

Reminds me of the time I was mistakenly thought of as a freemason. It was when I lived in rural Cumbria. The local branch was having a special meeting with neighbouring branches in the function room of the local pub. Landlord was big in the masons as was the local police sergeant.

They were all coming in with their sober suits on and carrying briefcases, as was I because I had just returned from a meeting with my bank manager. The barman looked at me and knowing I was a local businessman thought I was there for the meeting and directed me to the function room without question. I played along and almost got in before the landlord spotted me.

Barcelona is probably a bit too big and busy if you’re taking kids. It’s also pretty expensive now although, like any place, it may be a question of knowing where to go.

For what its worth, my favourite city of all is Lisbon. It has the feel of an old colonial place and, for a city, is pretty laid back with very friendly and decent people. You can take a train along the coast to the seaside town of Cascais which is nice and only about half an hour away. Sintra is not far either – up in the hills and a cracking little town.

It’s a long time since I’ve been there (I don’t think they’ll have moved it) but I know it remains very cheap and the food is great. I’d love to go back some day. If you wanted to take in some of the north of Spain, you could take a car on the ferry from Portsmouth or Plymouth to Bilbao (pretty industrial city) or Santander any mosey down to Lisbon at your leisure.

I was asked to join the masons and the knight’s on the same evening! my Dad had been involved with the Knight’s as he had been an accountant.

Though my first question was, can you get cheap drink at your gaff wasn’t met with approval. ;-)

We are definitely all Neil Lennon

    http://youtu.be/Z2NlXagj-l8

Serge i watched that clip there matey and it brings a tear to yer eye, the stuff that went on that year just shows how bad this country is.

You could actually see in Neil’s face he was shaken when that idiot ran on to the pitch and done that to him, but hey only the victim in this country gets the blame.

I personally blame the media in this country, how many times did we hear them say Neil brings it on himself and he needs to rein it in.

That year there was to many honest mistakes, but the one that sticks out the most is the dougie dougie incident, and then you have the cheek of that idiot Dallas trying to cover it up, but then again Mr Craven the innocent blamed again and what did the media do? they backed Dallas and co.

Clyde Superscoreboard are the biggest culprits in my eyes, they had the cheek to bring Dallas on the show after it to explain what happened and they didn’t ask one ?, they are scumbags the lot of them and this country is corrupt and they favour 1 team only.

This year i just want us to win it for Neil after all the stuff that went on last year, fat Sally will get his come uppence after he tried to be a fly b$$$$$d in the so called shame game in which the victim gets blamed again.

I have also said this on here b4, Walter Smith will never be respected in my book, all he had to do was come out and tell them to stop and let the man concentrate on his job, he didn’t he waited till the season was over and then said if i was Neil i would’ve chucked it, any decent man would’ve came out and said the decent thing.

If we take this title, we should hold a big party for Neil and the players lol, that’ll rile them right up.
