The Football Specials will be packed today with optimistic Celtic fans ahead of their opening competitive game of season 1966-67 at Tynecastle. The Glasgow club hope to win the League Cup for the fourth time in their history. They face a Hearts team looking to win the League Cup for the firth time, which last season became increasingly dependent on lightning-fast striker, Willie Wallace.
By comparison, the reigning Division One and League Cup champions have two of the best wingers in the country. Bobby Lennox and Jimmy Johnstone were the only Celtic players to score in their final eight competitive games of last season, as Jock Stein’s team’s fitness proved crucial with a barrage of late goals.
St Mirren visit Clyde in the other Group 4 game, the only group with all Division One teams, but it’s the two giants who meet in Edinburgh who are favourites to produce the group winner.

BOURNESPICE, Celtic agreed to be in the ICCUP before end of last season. Saves us trying to sort out trying to ensure preseason games against decent teams while negotiating the CL qualifiers. Bet the Scottish media would be slavering over the Ibrox club if they were involved.
wee bit of confusion there…..fasan comes for it but boyata disnae let him have it and a bit of chaos ensues
Ron
Yip the tournament has been coveted by SMSM
Bit of a Jackie Brambles so far.
our work off the ball so much better nowadays
Johansen not exactly making great efforts to push forward
Janko could be doing with some time in the gym….
briliant play from henderson who dummies n turns and gets his pass away as he is fouled
thats 2 sore ones for him now
That we Japanese boy is nippy ……
I think taking part in this tournament and returning to the group stages of the CL this year hopefully will have raised the clubs Euro profile again after last seasons dismal performance.
Might be me but things seem to be falling into place in a Celtic kind of a way..
Big Nadir going straight back to his farm after the match.
Crocker fills his time with negative Celtic stats
Good run Christie
20 minutes in 0-0 and the football should start soon.
RC not able to get power into his shot when we broke
Big Shift is almost decent, there is a player in there, though most likely not at Celtic
great play from ciftci and christie but christies shot from 20 yards is easily saved
Ciftci having a decent start to the game:)
Ajer, Henderson and Christie looking good.
RC nice wee move. Poor cut back though
nice wee bit of passing ends in ciftci being fouled
Good defending by Jakno.
can we pick up miranda to slip her intae the ghirls 11?
Armstrong clears off the line
Joe H clears it off the line
off the line
Nothing seems to be going for Armstrong. He can trap a ball further than I can kick it.
That horn is doing my head in.

He’s an average player, was the same at Utd crazy that we thought he was anything but
why do they not put the ball out the park when you need another bottle of beer?
It’s a bit of an education for McCart against this calibre of opposition but he’s doing well.
christie fouled

You need to stream the match to tablets in your kitchen :o)
In the olden days i used to have a radio on in the toilet just for such occasions
Armstrong misses one on one
Great football from Celtic. BR has the same type of play for the 2nd string as well.
Great play Celtic, Armstrong shot saved, shouldve scored
