Day of reckoning draws close for Rangers

858

Companies have a statutory duty to produce financial reports in line with commitments made to shareholders.  The failure of Rangers to fulfil those commitments was put down to a lack of clarity over the future outcome of the on-going tribunal with HM Revenue and Customs.  As a consequence of this failure, trading in Rangers shares have been suspended by the Plus Stock Exchange.

The Plus Stock Exchange also told Rangers broadcast partner, STV, they were “currently conducting an investigation into the circumstances under which Craig Whyte’s seven year disqualification from acting as a director in 2000 were not disclosed at the time of his appointment to the board of Rangers FC on May 6, 2011”.

Rangers today suggested there was “little, if any, tangible benefit for the club to be a listed company”.  This may be true but the benefit of a listing is heavily weighted towards shareholders and creditors, who should have received structured financial information in a timely manner.  Shareholders have also been denied the opportunity to attend an Annual General Meeting, which, in line with stock exchange rules, should have been held before 31 December 2011.

Many of you have watched Rangers speculate wildly for over two decades with the feeling that they would crash and burn.  This has been a painful period for those who follow clubs who stick to budget, unprepared to take a seat at the roulette table.  The day of reckoning draws closer.

When are the huns due to pay our bill for damage to seating and to toilet facilities? That must run to quite a sum!

If they are still around when we are next due to play them at home we should demand a deposit be paid upfront to cover any likely damage – along with upfront payment for their ticket allocation.

Any idea how much the bill for the damage runs to?

Had we been involved in any of these shenanigans, the wild speculation, the mock-shock-horror and ‘controversy’ would have been, to coin a phrase, Off The Radar………..Wee Chick would have been doorstepping everyone, EVERYONE ……mangling the Queen’s English in an attempt to paint us in the worst light possible….he’d have been at Celtic Park and lennoxtown simultaneously…. and soliciting all opinions from various talking heids.

It would have been a cluster-love of faux worried devilment.

    Hell mend them.

what are the implcations for Rangers ? – none, there was less than £1,000 traded in Rangers in the last quarter, after all this stock exchange were the ones who forced Craig Whyte to declare that he was disqualified as a director.

How can the BBC put such a fool up for public consumption ?

Real Implications – no credit from anyone, pay cash upfront or else nobody will deal with you. All contracts are effectively worthless. No club will sell a player to Rangers unless on a cash up front basis. Creditors will accellerate cash recovery.

If I had put that “there was no implications on shares being suspended” when I sat my accountacy finals I’d never have qualified.

Also a rephrase is required – This is the stock exchange was the one that Craig Whyte lied to.

I can’t believe we pay a licence for this dross.

  12. Just in, not read back so pardon me if someone else has sais this- – Surely it can’t be true that hunman can get away with not paying 40 million in tax by simply havine points deducted and a European ban fr twelve months. Surely, the two are not related. HMRC are not in anyway interested in Eufa or football matters and just want the tax that is owed. Sounds a bit like I’m had up for murder, but if I accept 6 penalty points on my licence all will be well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This cannot be right, cannot.I mean, whats in it for HMRC , who would be happy with that outcome, naw, not right.

I’d love to see the total extermination of hun in all their filthy guises, make me sick

I note that you have been through the SFA rules with a fine tooth comb.

Any chance you could find the time to do the same re. the SPL rules/articles and give me your opinion on whether the decision to allow or not allow NewHunCo to take the place of OldHunCo in the SPL should a fall within the remit of the SPL board or whether you believe it is a decision for a General Meeting of the SPL members passing a Qualified Resolution.

If I had the dosh I would employ a decent solicitor to give an opinion on this but I’m told this would cost between £500 to £1000, possibly more dependant on how complicated providing an opinion would be. Not sure this falls under corporate law or whether a specialist football related solicitor would be required.

Also. If as Paul67 states this is a matter for the SPL board I assume both Celtic and the SPL board will know this at this time. If this is the case would in not be within the SPL remit to call a general meeting in order to attempt to pass a Qualified Resolution to change the rules/articles to prove the organisation is fair, transparent and above all prove they have integrity.

I believe that this subject comes up every time they come to visit.

I seem to remember that back in the good ol’, money flush days of Minty, there was an agreement that we pay for the damage that they cause- and they pay for the damage that we cause.

The old barter system, with no money changing hands.

  16. Had a wee look in on FF to see how the bears were dealing with the latest news. Stumbled on this wee gem. This guy is clearly switched on to the problem and has found a technicality. Maybe PLUS will relist them when they have checked this point out;

Or, do they actually mean 12 noon?

You would have thought a big, official organisation would have got this correct.

Brilliant song. Brilliant singer. Brilliant backing

Absolutely love Kirsty McCall, one of the the best nights I ever had was watching her and the Pogues one December at the Barrowlands – same year as Fairy tale was released.

Fecking hate the plastic Paddy band supporting her on this track. About as Irish as the queen of England’s tits.

I read your exchanges on the subject and based on what was posted I think the SPL Board could not act without the approval of the other clubs that they would need to get before making a decision.

In any case it is not just the supporters of Celtic who would be up in arms at any attempt to gerrymander a result. The integrity issue applies to all supporters.

  30. Heard Today from very reliable source we are in talks with Jonny Hayes, Inverness Caley Thistle. Fee thought to be around 200,000.

Just arrived home to check Celtic site as assumed the deal was to go through Today. No news as yet i see.

Also the man himself said only a week ago Rangers were wanting to sign him so looks like we have stepped in to get him ahead of the other lot.
