Deadline day is as it should be. Celtic have completed the business which they hope will see them through to the title in May (or April). There is a sub-squad of peripheral players who may get a loan, while Giorgos Giakoumakis is expected to leave for Atlanta in the North American closed shop. The MLS window is open until April, which introduces an anomaly for Celtic to consider.
With two in and two out in defence, a striker in and Giorgos probably heading out, the first team squad is net up a central midfielder – Tomoki Iwata. Without closing doors on development opportunities open to our recent additions, it is hard to see the value in adding new bodies without others going out.

How are cheating refs going to stop us winning this league?”
I am not sure anyone is actually saying that. I think the feeling is that we shouldn`t have to factor in cheating officials when looking at likely outcomes for the season.
Tomorrow could be interesting. Wee Wullie`s decisions on Saturday might make tomorrow`s Rangers` supporting ref ( Beaton) a wee bit more hesitant about favouring his team.

Ì don’t know how you can say you don’t know if celtic are better after the window, but ascert that sevco are, it makes no sense. Surely you don’t know either way.
Here is the thing Ange has moved on a centreback he did not want and replaced him with one he wants. He moved on a centremid he did not want and has replaced him with someone he did want.
He has replaced a centreforward he rarely played with a striker he appears very happy to have secured. Someone who actually has the attributes ange loves. Only AJ for JJ is an unknown but let’s be honest JJ’s preformances have this season have not been his best.
Fact of the matter is we are none the wiser who has done the best deals between ourselves and sevco. I do love however how the players they sign automatically see their values triple before the ink is dry by the media.

It was announced on 31 January that Stein would leave Hibs for Celtic at the end of the 1964–65 season.
*The following morning, I was crossing Balloch Bridge with my da, he wisnae really talking tae me at the time as I was a weekend hippy then, drinking cheap wine and living a life of debauchery, well no really but he seemed tae think I was, with work and college Monday tae Friday.
He was a big horsey man and had picked the Express up just before and was in the process of pulling the racing supplement out, which was the only reason he bought it in the first place, when he glanced at the headlines, “Celtic appoint first protestant manager”, as he handed it tae me he said, “I hate that scheidt son Celtic are no like that”.
I was delighted but a bit surprised as he had said to me a couple of year before that our next manager would be either Jock or Sean Fallon but that looked to be gone only the March before when he was appointed the Hibbees manager, I was working up in Duntiglennan at the time and the job site was bouncing that morning as it was full of Tims and I have no doubt the holy village would have been tae.
As it so happened Jock didnae wait until the season end as the Hibbees appointed Bob Shankly to his role and his last game for them was a 2-1 win over the deid team in the quarter final of the SC the same day we beat the soon to be champion templars 3-2 at Parkheid.
After all my moaning last week about giving up my cup game ticket after finally obtaining said ticket….. my brilliant family have bought me and grandson tickets for the Jock Stein Lounge for tomorrow’s game vs Livi as a late birthday pressie. So excited, despite it being “only Livi”.
Cautionary note: Grandson’s first competitive match was vs Livi and it ended 0-0. Dreadful game with Ollie Burke managing to trip over the ball instead of netting it from one yard out.
Grandson’s highlight, however, was meeting Old Tim, Blantyre Tim and The Lurkin Tim in the Blane Valley. Really made his day. On way to match he asked if that was a pub Jack and Victor went to – well, he was only 6 at the time.
Added bonus: son-in-law driving, so a wee swally in the Kerrydale🤞
We’ll not know if we’re really coming out of the window stronger until our new signings have had time to settle and get some game time. The time to judge is next season when we come up against better opposition that the players who left struggled against and after Ange has worked his magic on them. Look at Mooy, now he’s fully integrated into the system he’s become one of our most important players, 6 months after he signed
In the meantime our recent results don’t suggest there’s been an immediate deterioration in the squad. Jura and GG have played combined 220 minutes out of the last 5 games but our results since the Huns game have got better. We’re defending better, conceding fewer goals but still scoring plenty.

celtic40me on 31st January 2023 8:51 pm,
All conditional on who remains for next season, I really don’t expect to see Mooy here next season along with a few others. So most likely rebuilding in the next window.
Hope I’m wrong but its not like we keep our best players when money is offered.
Parkheadcumsalford: I had cataracts sorted last year. Very simple operation and little discomfort. Would strongly recommend you look into it. Huge improvement in my eyesight as a result.
Almore,
I see (see what I did there) my optician every 3 months. He keeps an eye on me. There is a long, long waiting list in this part of the world for surgery.
PCS:👍
Ridiculous goal for Ross County, Marshall bundled into the net from a corner….
I’m happy the way things are progressing with the squad build under Ange,
Johnston, Koyabashi, Iwata in for the loss of Juranovic looks like a much stronger squad to me.
The only potential banana skin would be if Oh is a disappointment and we have lost Giakoumakis, my initial reaction having seen Oh’s wee cameo against the Arabs was positive but it’s too early to call that one.
I tend not to look too far ahead, so worrying about next year’s squad is not for me, however Mooy has signed a 2 year deal, he has recently come out on how happy he is at Celtic, I would be very surprised if he was offski next year.
TOM MCLAUGHLIN on 31ST JANUARY 2023 5:36 PM
Even when the refs and var were at their most biased against us in one game, Celtic won 4-3 at Tynecastle.
At Ibrox, even allowing for a non-penalty given against us, Celtic still finished the game 9 points clear. So I’ll ask again. How are cheating refs going to stop us winning this league.
————————————————————————————————
Their cheating will stop us winning it earlier.

Good for Dundee United … if accurate.
English market is truly bonkers.
I don’t even remember this guy at United.
