Dear SFA, a joke hurt our feelings

1666

Can you imagine how a formal complaint about the comment ‘Rory Bremner can pretend to be Tony Blair’ would be composed?

‘Dear SFA, a rude man’s joke hurt our feelings.  Tell him straight, no more jokes!’

I clicked onto the NEW club’s site to confirm their reaction.  As well as complaining about a joke [it wouldn’t hurt if it wasn’t true], they complain about the Daily Record, “the paper is riddled from top to bottom with an anti-Rangers bias”, just to prove they also have a sense of humour.

They also attempted to put a stake in the ground by affirming that Pinsent Masons, now representing Scotland’s champions and sole Champions League participants, did not report to the police that Craig Whyte has any connection to the club/company.

No one has ever suggested that Pinsent Masons made such a report.  This is a bit like insisting that Ally McCoist will not manage the Champions League winners this season.  Pinsent Masons were far too busy taking instructions from their top client’s chief executive, in his non-comedic role.

What a laugh!

  1. The Battered Bunnet on

Given the real and present dispute over the legitimacy of the sale of the assets of Rangers last year, it is entirely appropriate to ask whether the team in blue playing at Ibrox is permitted to be called ‘Rangers’ at all, let alone question their marketing.

The Sevco Scotland Works XI has no business in Scottish senior football. The frenzy to legitimise them, in light of the range of potential outcomes to the dispute, is quite possibly somewhat futile.

Chick saying it’s fair enough for St Mirren to make fans pay half-price for the abandoned game. Anyone remember him backing Dundee Utd a few years ago when the oldclub supporters were complaining?

  4. The Scottish MSM will do their best to avoid addressing the true implications of the Rory Bremner joke and hope that ‘the authorities’ will do their best to say nothing in public

    Larrybhoy

    enjoy the quip

the frankenhuns will take no action whatsoever

they have threatened to take everyone and anyone to court and as far as I can gather they have done SFA to anyone so far

its time to get this debate into the open anyway and this is one way of challenging the lie

  6. CCB agree on transfer window

The project , experiments etc on bangura ,Pukki, Balde, murphy, et al have not delivered to date. Hooper was the only success in the striking department

We don’t have a striker of note and that must be fixed. To go into the summer transfer window and scramble around for a striker for the 2nd year running and jepordising CL qualification would be a joke. So let’s get someone in that should be top goal scorer at Celtic b end of the season. There is not much competition.

don’t mention the liquidation, I mentioned it once but I think I got away with it

    Auldheid,

You may,in the midst of the mayhem yesterday, have missed my post to yourself (still haven’t sorted our email problems)

In short, congratulations and thank you for all your efforts to date.

Apart from shining a light in some very dark corners with a view to reconstructing the governance of our game,Resolution 12 was,for me,very important on a personal level.

I have been thoroughly disgusted by the way our game has been run and,as much as anything,Res 12 was a test of whether CFC PLC were active in trying to challenge and change it or in collusion with others to preserve the old order.

Had it appeared it was the latter,I was seriously considering walking away from something I have loved for more than half a century.

It now appears I won’t have to make such a decision.

As you know,I have been following the issue at hand for quite some time now and, despite never having met you, know enough about you to laugh at anyone here or elsewhere who doubts your resolve.

    Best Regards and Thanks again

I had a hard time tracking the feedback and missed yours but wanted to reply to say that I had exactly the same concerns as you in terms of my willingness to continue to support a club with ethics that I could no longer have believed were the same as mine.

That and keeping self respect rather than pay to be cheated would have given me a serious personal decision to make.

I did not want to do walking away.

Much of it I have probably posted before , like trying to get the CST and CSA to agree a draft resolution from a tin can (caravan) in a field with poor internet connection.

But I have been thinking it would all make a good CQN book.

  11. Battered Bunnet,

    Nice to see you also.

Do you think there may be some movement on the living wage issue?

I thought Bankier looked taken aback at the level of emotion in the room.

I wouldn’t be surprised if ” a review of policy” is on the agenda for the next board meeting ?

Finally, on, nice suit, when I was in Amsterdam , I popped into C&A.

It’s such a shame they have withdrawn from the UK :-)

  16. notice that what was once called the New Blane Valley is now just the Blane Valley.Sounds a bit suspicious to me …

It has kept the history of the old pub….

  17. These international weekends are a pain in the bum, especially when it’s only friendlies. So much so, that I found myself watching Sunday’s Sportscene again. They showed Virgil’s second goal a few times and in the celebrations following Teemu Pukki looks a wee bit lost and on the periphery of the congratulations. Maybe he’s not quite settled in yet, it takes some lads longer than others. I think he’s got a lot offer though and hope gets a good run in the team.

On another subject, and I know it’s only highlights you get, Dundee United fairly pumped Motherwell, they looked really good with a number of useful youngsters. Hopefully, Jackie can keep them together for a couple of seasons.

  18. DeniaBhoy in awe of wee Oscar's Courage on

I am hoping PL’s joke was pre scripted, that it was his chosen way of expressing something he doesn’t think the club can do officially. With his position in the SFA there’s no chance of him being punished either – as ridiculous as that would be. A few years ago we would have probably been sanctioned for it, perhaps even had an independent enquiry set up by Mr Salmond into the hidden dangers of offensive jokes.

Over 2 months now and i still have’nt cured it ?

  20. Canamalar,Morrissey,BRTH,Auldheid et al, well done in your pursuit of truth in regards to governance and farness in our sport..

I believe in the the signifigance,as P Mc G says of it not being rejected by the board can not be overlooked.

This motion went from being ‘unnecessary’ to being ajourned-with ongoing dialogue with our clubs company secretary.I hope that if we can move the opinion of the board,as such, in a week then hopefully as time goes on more and more of the truth will come to light. As has been said this issue is ‘live’.I hope the other clubs now know we are not doing nothing.

In regards to the living wage I feel vexed that our clubs board opposed and got the vote they were hoping for on this resolution. This is an issue,I believe that is Celtic to the core,it denotes our ethos as a club.I thought Janette findlay done herself(as a celt) and that ethos of our founding father proud.I believe in highlighting this issue in the way she done so the long term may see a different outcome with,i would hope its implementation within a couple of years at our club.

Dermot your absence was noted, not to worry, questions on your view of history shall keep

Big Nan not had a chance congratulate you on bringing your petition to our parliament. Calm and collected answers put forward in an articulate and reasoned way.I shant jest about you getting the third degree when you have thirty more to go lol.but i am glad you are happy the way it went on the day.we are not going away, I am proud to have signed your petition.

So you think that P L is a baw head for cracking a oneliner.

Or are you on your other agenda again.

My take on it is this, that quip and my understanding of the res 12 issue tell me that celtic aren’t just waiting around for lazerus fc to come back, and there is a feeling among the board that we have been cheated.

And in his ever so subtle way he is letting us know.
