Dedryck after his MVP performance and Craig

1282

Appropriate appreciation is due to Dedryk Boyata for his MVP performance on Wednesday. He scored the goal that won the points, could have scored more and made the most impressive defensive intervention of the game.

If scouts were in the Celtic Park stand watching, he did all he could to entice an offer, but a sample size of one game is not enough to validate a change in form for me.

Brendan has a big selection decision to make for Hearts on Sunday. You could argue he’s got the best from Patrick Roberts by bringing him on as a substitute in Celtic’s last four games, the most recent three of which the player considerably lifted the Celtic performance. Patrick will be wondering what he needs to do to get a start.

Chelsea want to sign Craig Gordon? No surprise there, they did sign Magnus Hedman a year after he left Celtic, after all. Craig is playing well and a reliable cog in an effective defensive wheel. But you know me. This far off the qualifiers, it’s all about the price as far as I’m concerned.

Everyone has a price, to think otherwise is to deny the future exists.

While I agree,he played well the other night,(and I had him as first scorer -bloody Ladbroke 25/1-

When he was pressed he hit risky passes on a couple of occasions

I don’t know if Brendan can Instill confidence in him

Confidence is everything for a footballer. If you don’t believe in your self you ain’t gonna make it

BGFC – delighted to hear the news about your daughter – I’m sure that she, and wee BGFC, will do you proud. One piece of advice that I always give my own teenagers is that – given a choice between the easy option and the hard option, always choose the hard option, because it will make it easier for you in 20 years time.

The Rangers bid for Jak Alnwick was £70k up front & £60k in the Summers of 2018, 2019 & 2020, this doesn’t trigger his £250k buy out clause.

On the Craig Gordon topic, a bit like Leigh Griffiths keep the goalies that make the saves and keep the strikers that score the goals

Maggie you mentioned on Burns night that Scots found themselves of different sides of the American War of Independence in the Carolinas in the 1770s. Many Highlanders, and Lowlanders for that matter were encouraged to go to North Carolina by the Colony itself, with offers of work land etc. Most were loyal to the British Crown for that reason but post 1746 that was not always the case. Interestingly Flora MacDonald and her husband Alan, also a MacDonald, arrived in NC in 1774. Alan was a Captain in the British Army, and Flora despite having spent some time in the Tower of London post 1746 was also a Loyalist. Unfortunately for them they paid the price for their loyalty, and following the defeat of the British lost everything, and either jailed or forced into exile in Nova Scotia. They both ended back in the Isle of Skye where Flora was buried. Fascinating period of both Scottish and American history.

    Mind wandering watching this game…….

…… Dundee were semi-finalists in the 1962-63 European Cup (Champions League for younger readers – Ed), Winning the first leg against Milan. They also reached the semi-finals of the 1967-68 Fairs Cup (Europa League – Ed) losing out against Leeds Utd by a single goal over two legs

And of course Aberdeen triumphed in the 1982-83 Cup Winners Cup, beating Bayern Munich en route to the final and toppling Real Madrid in the Final.

Scottish Football needs a strong Sevco? Does it flip.
