Dedryck strolls past England

1089

Hot on the heels of a former Celtic player becoming the most expensive defender in transfer history, we watched Dedryck Boyata stroll through Belgium’s win against England last night.  I would be more animated on this subject if he was secured on a five year contract, but as he his current deal only has one year to go, such a high profile performance could reduce our options for the player.

How many of you thought we would be in this situation after the Ibrox game in March?  That day Brendan Rodgers said there was better to come from Dedryck.  He is still not the finished article, but he’s a key cog in a team who fancy their chances in Russia.

Stiliyan Petrov match worn Champions League shirt raffle

We have a very special raffle, which ends this afternoon! The shirt Stiliyan Petrov wore in Celtic’s 0-0 draw with Bayern Munich during our 2003 Champions League campaign is available. You can buy a ticket for £1 here on ebay.  Stan signed the shirt.

All proceeds go to the Stiliyan Petrov Foundation to aid research into leukaemia and cancer treatments.  Stiliyan’s recover from leukaemia shows us just how far treatments have come, but as our own CQN community knows too well, more progress is needed.  The draw will be made at Woodside Hotel, Aberdour, where the 14th annual CQN Open Golf Day is now underway.

Hope to see you later.

Jogging past Dalmarnock station yesterday I was intrigued by the crowd gathered to get a an early glance at the new car model to be introduced by Jacob Rees Mogg to celebrate BREXIT.

I was told there was no plans for a left hand drive model. (Note.. you will note the hole in the middle of the front bumper; I believe that is for a new fangled contraption called a “starting handle”.

Bobby 8.17. All I know is that he left to go to university then the RAF. Never met any of his family. Or maybe I was really drunk at the wedding. ?

In that case, maybe not. Didn’t know too many people bound for the forces.

    Met plenty since,though.

Hope the wedding was fun-doubtful it was held in The Winton Arms!

Bobby 10.15. I take it that pub is a hun hell hole. Doubt if he or my sister would set foot in it. They’ve lived in Riyadh for years. Not much in common with Glasgow or Kilwinning. ?

“It would appear that the Compliance Officer approached TRFC about the period at the end of March (2011l) and TRFC convinced him all was in order during that period.”

It’s not possible that the CO can just take their word on this otherwise it’s just another bluewash???

    Mon The 12’ers!

    ===============

Exactly which is why the SFA Compliance Officer’s attention was drawn to how unacceptable the exclusion of that period from JPDT scrutiny is.

We don’t know what questions were put to RFC, we don’t know what the answers were.

We are back to 2013 and all answers on the grant period since, which are all on the lines of the licence was granted properly, trust us but we cannot tell you on what basis because that would breach the confidentiality surrounding licence applicatons and the granting of them.

Clyde and banana boat come to mind.

Perhaps this wrinkle in the Justice Protocol is what pushed Mr McGlennan over the edge?

The difference from the past is that there is a fair amount of evidence that tells us what happened at end of March and the Comp Off has it now.

I would stress in order to keep expectations right this does not mean the licence was improperly granted, because there might be contrary evidence we dont have or a Bryson like argument might be deployed to explain events at end of March away.

The point though is without inclusion of what happened at end of March based on ALL evidence available and scrutiny of it by the JPDT, not the Comp Off alone, then the JPDT might as well pack up and go home.

  6. What’s important here is a victory, an unambiguous victory – the type that needs no nuance, no explanation or contextualising.

    A simple knockdown and knockout.

In headline terms that are easy to understand, even for the mouthbreathers, and one that will stick thickly in sleekit craws………….

TRFC TKO. Sayonara Sevco. Bye-bye huns.

Aye,that’s the one. Right beside the station, and the only place you could get a drink on a Sunday before the licensing laws were loosened up.

And Catholics couldn’t get a drink there at all.

    Ludicrous.

    So it’s lip-service and a stitch-up?

Genuine question,as I’m getting totally flummoxed by how little is being done despite such huge amounts of evidence.

  9. SFTB….

Earlier, I shall be in The City just after you. Would have loved to buy you a pint.

If you want to catch a game in good company, head uptown to The Parlour Bar, take the subway or just jump in a cab. jack Dempseys is okay, ( by Empire State), there’s a better older bar just down the street called Foley’s . it’s A sports bar and worth a look for the bogs alone! If you want to be sure of getting the game, The Parlour is your best bet, I’d say. Have fun. HH.

  10. I was wondering, where did the price of, £ 25 million come from regards the value of KT.Who decided this? Not Celtic. Some trumpet, with the first figure that came into his head, and it has grown wings since then, repeated by every lazy assed stenographer out there, and accepted as Gospel by many.

My only comment was about BR even giving them an answer. It’s what they feed on.As James Forrest said,”Disgrace so many Scottish hacks trying to get the best talent in Scotland to move”.And we all know why.

I would be shocked if KT does not stay for 10 at least.Plenty of time to add to his fortune ,and Celtics,as he improves each year.

Real Rangers man claims technical knockout.

The more things change the more they seem to stay the same.

The sad thing is a good portion of our support are completely oblivious to the extent of how corrupt ,the game we pay into is governed.

A sham doesn’t matter when we’re winning trebles.

Many thanks for the NY advice. It has been a long time since I was in the US (almost typed IS there which could have caused entry difficulties).

I will try hard to make it to Foleys and The Parlour, If I have covered all other obligations. On that point, I have been told there are records at Ellis Island of my grandfather coming into the country to work in the early part of the last centurybefore he came back to Ireland and started his family in the 1920s. I am waiting for information on this from my Irish family but, if it does not arrive in time, does anyone know if I can research it on a trip to Ellis Island?

  13. Auldheid 9.20 am,

The following extract from your post does not leave an altogether warm feeling:

“with regard to events after 6th May which the JPDT is presumably looking into…”

Many of us are only too well aware of the work that has gone into Res 12, and we all hope for an outcome that can allow us to bring this festering sore to a close. HH

  14. Turkeybhoy . As long as Brendan is here , I also expect KT to be here , at least for another 3 seasons.

He certainly ain’t going to be skint , but there’s a difference from being very wealthy to super rich. I love the wee guy to bits but I don’t walk in his shoes. If he was my son , or player, I would advice him to stay but I’m biased. HH

  15. SFTB, as others have posted, The Parlour is a considerable distance from Times Square, so if you go there, take the Metro/Subway. Recommended the New York Pass, very good value imo. Enjoy. HH

  16. Auldheid .

In my post at 11.14 I didn’t register my appreciation of the work you and the other Res 12 guys have put into the challenge of fighting for a fair transparent game . It’s much appreciated. HH

  19. ANGELGABRIEL,

KT is 21.He is the epitomy of a die hard Celtic fan, with the mega add on,he actually plays for the club.He is idolized by the fans. The chance to do the “10”,maybe even a “Treble, treble”and go down in history,as a legend, spoken of in decades to come as such is a massive pull.Considering he could leave in 3 or 4 years, and retire with around £ 30 million earnings around 34 would be a no brainer.

I just think this is the road he will go down.If he reads this he will.LOL.
