Dedryck strolls past England

1089

Hot on the heels of a former Celtic player becoming the most expensive defender in transfer history, we watched Dedryck Boyata stroll through Belgium’s win against England last night.  I would be more animated on this subject if he was secured on a five year contract, but as he his current deal only has one year to go, such a high profile performance could reduce our options for the player.

How many of you thought we would be in this situation after the Ibrox game in March?  That day Brendan Rodgers said there was better to come from Dedryck.  He is still not the finished article, but he’s a key cog in a team who fancy their chances in Russia.

Stiliyan Petrov match worn Champions League shirt raffle

We have a very special raffle, which ends this afternoon! The shirt Stiliyan Petrov wore in Celtic’s 0-0 draw with Bayern Munich during our 2003 Champions League campaign is available. You can buy a ticket for £1 here on ebay.  Stan signed the shirt.

All proceeds go to the Stiliyan Petrov Foundation to aid research into leukaemia and cancer treatments.  Stiliyan’s recover from leukaemia shows us just how far treatments have come, but as our own CQN community knows too well, more progress is needed.  The draw will be made at Woodside Hotel, Aberdour, where the 14th annual CQN Open Golf Day is now underway.

Hope to see you later.

Was a toss of the coin both to score & win thought Cork were overpriced at 13/2…. think Dundalk were 9/2… the bookies love a punter that looks at the price before the form :-)

Having a decent World Cup so far betting whose Switzerland last Friday & Tunisia last night score & win singles with Senegal last Sunday nearly covering a months worth of bets :-)

Hoping to meet Pog & Jobo (golf permitting) tomorrow hopefully one day put a face to another couponeer

Some might say CQN clique…. not for me, just Celtic fans with differing views that at any point given the opportunity can meet up

Good luck, haven’t done too well masel, got off to a bad start but Celtic done good for me in the week, took them at 1/1 in play, wee Jamsie scored less than two mins later, finding the inplay much better these days, just wish I could stop tho, it’s a curse so it is :-(

I love it…. probably more so these days as am only allowed to put on what the good lady allows me to lose and another thing drummed into me as a kid…. once I put a bet on the money is gone …. any return is then always a bonus :-)

  10. If parking restruction is not going ahead right now that is great. However, celtic need to step up and get improved and more parking in and around the stadium cause delay simply means further down the road, celtic must prepare and provided supporters with appropriate facilities.

There are two parking areas at back of lisbon lion stand which is accesible via janefield street but you need to be in an hour before game (due to access/ public safety i presume) That ground should be converted into one car parking area entered and exited via london road.

Topdeck parking is a cheap alternative to double the parking spaces so should be very affordable and could be located here very quickly.

Thereafter barrowfield could/ should be further developed to offer greater parking facilities.

if necessary other land to the north, south and east of the stadium could be purchased with parking and ride provided on match days.

All of which could ease on street parking and would pay for self over time.

Clearly there is cost implications but here is the thing a £4 million pound light show is no good to the people who cant get to the stadium.

just looked at this weekend’s games …. in Belgium’s half of the draw, there is portugal, uruguay, france argentina, brazil, mexico …

in england’s half .. spain and croatia as the top teams?

maybe the english weren’t as daft as I thought … still dont believe that they lost on purpose… they just aren’t nearly as good as Belgium…

I think Spain are the best team in the competition. That said, so far, the best and most consistent team over three games has been Croatia (closely followed by Belgium). I don’t think England will beat Columbia.

  12. Jimmynotpaul on

    Ziggydoc.

I agree about Spain, but only to the 60 th minute or so when Iniesta has to go off.

They are certainly in easier half of the draw but it’s Brazil for me ( talking as a betting man. Was given some Christmas bet gifts too, all were on France, so they are my second choice. :-)

Ziggy … I was just saying to my pal that I think Columbia will beat England… but that may be more hope than expectation.
