‘DEFINITELY,’ RALSTON’S WISH FOR RODGERS

ANTHONY RALSTON hopes Brendan Rodgers extends his stay as Celtic boss beyond the end of next season when his contract expires.

The Scotland international right-back is an admitted fan of the Irishman ever since the former Liverpool manager arrived to take over from Ronny Deila in May 2016.

Ralston has been playing back-up to Alistair Johnston in the past couple of seasons, but played his part in the Hoops’ Premier Sports League Cup success over Philippe Clement’s Ibrox outfit in December after replacing the Canadian in the 71st minute.

That was the first stage in another a bid for a ninth treble and the title is already on its way, so all eyes are on this afternoon’s Scottish Cup semi-final against St Johnstone at Hampden.

A BIG HAND – AT THE DOUBLE…Brendan Rodgers and Anthony Ralston acknowledge the Celtic support.

Ralston is eager to be involved to show his worth to Rodgers and he said: “It’s been a really successful time for us since the gaffer came back.

“As players, whenever you get the opportunity, you want to implement his game style and coaching – because it has worked great for us.

“And we’re looking for more of the same moving forward, into next season and continuing.

“Would it be good to tie him down on a longer deal? That’s in the hands of others at the club, I’m only a player.

“But, yes, definitely, I would like to see that.”

Looking at the potential history-making third treble for the manager, Ralston, speaking to the Daily Record, added: “It would be a terrific achievement for him.

“We have done so well under him in the Scottish Cup, at Hampden especially.

“And that gives us real belief as players.”
