Deila and Hutter bedding into their new teams

1385

There are parallels between Salzburg and Celtic.  After an outstanding season Salzburg lost their coach, Roger Schmidt, in May to Bayer Leverkusen, appointing Adolf Hutter (commentators beware), who previously managed Austrian Bundesliga club Grodig and is largely unknown outside Austria.

Unlike Ronny Deila, Hutter has not tried to change Salzburg’s system, but the period of transformation has been blamed for Salzburg failing to overcome Malmo in the Champions League play-off round (Malmo taxed Juventus in Turin last night before two second half Tevez goals settled things).  New instructions, new training techniques and, in some cases, new personnel present challenges.

Ronny has had a few false starts but the return of Scott Brown at the weekend, the return to form of Kris Commons, who will surely start, and the addition of Scepovic, Tonev and Wakaso to the squad give reason for confidence.

We’ve had over 3,000 responses so far to the survey on Celtic fans, who they are, where they came from, and what their views are.  The results will give an excellent insight into this time in our history.  If you’ve not had a chance to leave your mark yet, please do so here (only your first submission counts).

  1. Kilbowie Kelt will vote YES on

We should just allow ourselves to imagine that in 1916 Ireland had had the opportunity that Scotland has tomorrow…

I am sure that some of us would be arguing that it would safer to stay where we are.

    Ireland moved on.

    Scotland WILL move on.

  2. Jungle Jim, there was a great atmosphere at George Square around 5 tonight.

    All YES right enough.

The Nacho NO votes were prowling on Buchanan Street, lots of tweed and Burberry on show! :-)

I thot I had it somewhere, just canny find it nor remember what it was called, had most clubs, brit and worldwide, and all their old crests.

    Thanks anyways.

  4. Snake Plissken,

Glad you posted that! Only one side has been ‘nationalist’ and the other wants democracy to take over Scotland’s forgotten towns as well as those lucky enough to survive Thatcher’s cull of the innocents.

This referendum is for the mining and shipbuilding towns that now produce nothing these days except high levels of emigration.

    There’s audio with that photo?

I’d rather not listen to those peepel if you know what I mean.

Looking at them is hard enough.

  6. Fred Colon – assuming you’re a YES supporter I’m glad to confirm you don’t need it so long as you have some other form of ID.

If you think we’re better together you have to find that card or there’s no point going to the polling station. Sorry.

  7. TET- will have a chance to look later and get back.

Might be an opportunity there for somebody to do a website as there didn’t appear to be much.

I never bought into the EU will not let you join point but I thought there has to be a process for doing so and that will take time.

It’s a bit like SFA transferring Rangers SFA membership. If that is ok for all the member clubs then it happens. Realpolitik.

However I have similar reservations in terms of trust with regard to assurances on pensions.

No mention of currency risk and possibility that whilst the £ value earned by contributions will be honoured no mention of possibility that if we then have our own currency not tied to the £ or join the euro the amount will fluctuate, so I’m not kidding myself one side is cleaner than the other and so I should vote on whom I trust more.

I have reasons for absolutely distrusting the Edinburgh establishment where a parliament will be based. It is an utter disgrace that Res12 has had to stay off front pages when you see what took place because of fear of backlash and the SG knew all about Rangers troubles and have stood back and said nothing.

An Edinburgh Minster could make WM look like paragons of virtue and on a purely Celtic level a Yes will kill or mortally wound us.

The idea that England will meekly stand by and watch Scotland grab a resource the English have contributed to making more valuable is also one that is too trusting of English response given the main reason for conflict is resource grabbing.

I’m uncomfortable with leaving social thinking citizens in England to almost certain Tory policies and having a right wing neighbour on or border.

Independence for me comes into the be careful what you wish for category.

Most of all the idea we are independent of each other is just absurd and is THE source of conflict in the world and yet it has been let loose in our own back yard.

  10. It looks like all wolves in Scotland are shedding their sheep’s clothing as the vote gets nearer.

All those groups and people will still be there if it is a yes or no.

Hopefully those on the margins stay there going forwards and the Scottish people in general harness the energy of the referendum to make a better country either way.

  11. long haired yins man on

Damn! I got really excited about the header subject of the blog but to my disappointment it is not referring to Kraftwerk founder Ralf Hutter but some Austrian football manager….tsk..

  12. Jobo ,

I’m in the yes camp .

However , if i don’t find the polling card i’m switching to the better together camp as i’d rather it was them that was missing out on a vote .

  13. Cowiebhoy

I exchanged texts with Vmhan yesterday morning. He said he felt better but it sounded like “I fight it”. He sid he was in pain, on painkillers and stayed in bed. Lost a lot of blood. Vmhan told me what brain scan discovered but I have no acces to the phone now and cannot say exactly what it was.

  14. I think there should be three options in the referendum …

    1. Yes

    2. No

    3. Yes and get it right round ye

Will keep Vhman in prayers for a quick recovery

  16. Cowiebhoy

After yesterday’s text exchange I decided to no bother Vmhan today. I will be in contact with him tomorrow and promise to post the news when I hear from him, unless he is able to be on CQN.

If you lost/mislaid or nor received your polling card, I believe you can still turn up with ID and the polling station can check your details and allow you to vote. Not 100% certain with this, but might be worth checking this out.

As I’m sure you know you don’t need the actual card – get out and vote!

I’m voting no but I hope that whoever wins it is by a clear margin by over 5 points

I think that if it’s really close – say 50.5 to 49.5 – then it would lead to real bitterness and division

You are supposedly all that het up about SFA and Scottish Govt recognising Rangers?

Does that mean you would oppose the English FA if they were to say the only way Celtic could get into the English Leagues is if they’re joined by Rangers?

Oh I suppose it’s because the English FA didn’t get any of the facts…

    pmsl

    Shocking levels of disingenuous behaviour.

  20. Got our Europa League tickets in today.

Have already had 3 (THREE) polling calls from the ‘NO’s’ this evening… can anyone top that?

  21. No matter what the result tomorrow the extent of the yes vote will have surprised many people across the globe as well as quite a lot of us. Last night around 2000 people gathered in Greenock just to shine torches in the shape of a giant yes, and taking the dog for a walk just there around 300 people wandered past waving flags and yes placards. We might well find that come Friday morning we will all be mandated to wear tartan!

  22. Fred…bet its not!

I remember leaving CP after AC Milan beat us in EC Qfinal and saying I’d never buy a bloody Italian ice cream ever again!!

    I did!!!
