There are parallels between Salzburg and Celtic. After an outstanding season Salzburg lost their coach, Roger Schmidt, in May to Bayer Leverkusen, appointing Adolf Hutter (commentators beware), who previously managed Austrian Bundesliga club Grodig and is largely unknown outside Austria.
Unlike Ronny Deila, Hutter has not tried to change Salzburg’s system, but the period of transformation has been blamed for Salzburg failing to overcome Malmo in the Champions League play-off round (Malmo taxed Juventus in Turin last night before two second half Tevez goals settled things). New instructions, new training techniques and, in some cases, new personnel present challenges.
Ronny has had a few false starts but the return of Scott Brown at the weekend, the return to form of Kris Commons, who will surely start, and the addition of Scepovic, Tonev and Wakaso to the squad give reason for confidence.

Thanks for that.
Some turnaround by Fulham.
2-0 down. Now 3-2 up.

So in a Catholic school of 1,000 people and 1,000 people are Celtic supporters is in some way pluralistic in outlook in your view?
Gies peace man!

There is a simple reason – their policies were more left wing than Labour’s.
They didn’t support Iraq
They kept free prescriptions
They didn’t set up our young people to fail with Tuition fees
The Council Tax freeze
In the meantime Johann Lamont described Scotland as a ‘Something for nothing’ society and said we are not genetically programmed to make political decisions in Scotland.
There are NUMEROUS examples of how the Labour party have lost their way and no longer represent the people they once did.
Their problem is also that they have not been able to understand one simple thing – the people who criticize them the most are people who they once could rely on to vote for them and now they dismiss them as Nats.
They cannot see the wood for the trees and they have lost the plot. They have walked arm in arm with the Tories to frighten the people of Scotland and they won’t be forgiven by many regardless of the outcome.
The easiest job in the UK is to be a Labour MP into the bargain. Guaranteed seat most of the time with all the expenses that come with them and they don’t need to be candidates of any ability or even intelligence – Curran, Sarwar, Murphy, Davidson and Alexander are living proof of that in their own way. As Jim Sillars said – the intellectually bankrupt Labour party which has never been more true.
Tom Devine is NOT a convert to Nationalism, he is a convert to wanting Scotland to be independent. It is not the same thing no matter how long and often you want to repeat it.
You are RIGHT. There could very well be an Edinburgh elite but that is why we need to become more engaged and make a better system. We might fail but if we don’t try we’ll be stuck with the lot we have right now and I don’t consider that to be a better alternative.
Tommy Sheridan said something interesting – introduce right of recall. I agree with that because once we get that into a constitution the politicians cannot be bought off by big businesses as easily and the people who elect them can get rid of them faster if they don’t do what we pay them to do.
I accept your point of view but I think it comes down to hard work. Are we willing to work hard to achieve what we want or not?
I guess we’ll find out soon enough.
One thing I have noticed from my facebook and other places and indeed that weans debate is that there appears to be a real division along class lines on the vote and the better off folk I know are by and large no voters and the folk with more to try and gain are largely YES.
Interesting stuff.
Geordie munro – I wish I was a £ behind him as they say! No I’m not. And honestly thought of that myself earlier!!
As a non Scot could someone explain for me.
Why would supporters of the Scottish Conservatie and UNIONIST Party vote for the Scottish NATIONALIST Party.
Seems odd to me.
Sorry for shouting
Just in to say….
Guid luck to all voters the morra.
On behalf of all of lifes underdogs who stood in the Jungle with me for almost

Did you really say why bring in the political plonk?
The SNP has invested huge amounts of time money and energy in building this campaign
The others are there as a necessary evil
Salmond has courted the Catholic Church and vote for a decade to get to this point because they know that for independence they need the votes!
Yet they also appeal to their majority constituency but their action under the OB act
In an independent Scotland Catholics will make up a small minority
There are plenty of aggressive secularists out there like Patrick Harvie of the Greens who would like to see Catholic schools disappear -how comfortable will those of us who value catholic education in such a society?
We laugh and debate how the Huns got away with tax evasion at the FTT and UTT -most know that once the case goes to London it will be won by HMRC
If Scotland had been independent at the time -the case would never have seen the light of day!
I take we all remember the way Scottish justice dealt with Lenny’s attackers
Guy from bomb squad in England said they were bombs judge took word of a Scottish expert that they weren’t!
Then there was the Edinburgh jury that decided Lenny’s attacker wasn’t really guilty!
Reject inward looking nationalism !

“Call me cynical but if tomorrow we vote for independence we will be swapping a London elite with an Edinburgh one”.
You are spot on matey. And overnight we will have cut the number of pig’s snouts in the trough by about 90% !
Great vision mate …………C’mon say YES……….
Tonybhoy72
If independence is the end rather than a means to it then you risk ending up supporting a party who want to abolish Catholic schools.
Unlikely they would get the votes but the thinking is possible by giving the means (independence) supremacy over any end be it desirable (getting rid of bedroom tax) or undesirable (closing Catholic schools)

Am very much aware. That is why YES is the desired result. Much hard & painful negotiation will follow & that is exactly how it needs to be.
Snake – better system is a must. Recall – aye. But I’d go further. Give them a good wage, a good pension but ban them from directorships or being shareholders of any company orcfrom accepting consultancy roles for 10 years after leaving elected office.

Diversity is wonderful I agree.
Now, let’s get back to the question. How is it discriminatory?
Did you really want to say one’s as bad as the other?
best of luck tomorrow cqn if you’re voting- enjoy the day, it’s a special one – hope it goes your way whatever way you vote – many generations past and future will thank you. Give Cameron a good Scottish welcome to democracy !
if you don’t vote, you’re a lafferty !

Just got a text from Vhman, here’s a bit of it:

Robertressell. Proud of Scotland?
No I am ashamed of Scotland and it’s stupid patriotic nationalist zeal.
Harrying no voters, telling them they are cowards, like lemmings wanting to go over the cliff and taking others.
Tales of media bias reminiscent of the Huns. Pretending sectarian Scotland doesn’t exist.
Pretending Masonic influence will mysteriously disappear.
Calling no voters creitns.
Curtain twitchers.
To grow a pair of bags.
Revelling in the language of the schoolyard.
Wallowing in made up conspiracy theories.
Claiming popular support cos you put a sign in your window.
Blaming everything on the English.
Not willing to debate.
Not caring about little details like currency.
Or euc membership or NATO membership.
Wanting a free ride.
Pretending Scotland has an innate sense of fairness.
Taking a punt on our children’s future.
I have never seen anything like this.
We will never be the same again.

“There are plenty of aggressive secularists out there like Patrick Harvie of the Greens who would like to see Catholic schools disappear -how comfortable will those of us who value catholic education in such a society?”
Can you please point out to me the names of some of these aggressive secularists who are already elected MSPs and are just waiting for the faintest opportunity to abolish Catholic schools?
it seems perverse to me that celtic supporters think they will get a better deal in an independent scotland.
neil lennon was assaulted on live tv.
the guy walked free from a scottish court.
if it had been ally would he have walked?
a viable bomb was sent to neil lennon and the scottish court decided to charge them with assault.
assault by bomb!
only in scotland.
a german accountant found rangers to be guilty of scamming hmrc but two scottish lawyers found in rangers favour.
still waiting for the loans to be repaid.
and celtic supporters believe things will be better in an independent scotland.

How did his brain scan go? Did they find it?;)

Have really enjoyed the debate gents.
Are we on poppies or songs next week?
Bayern should be out of sight in this game and would be but for Joe Hart. Bayern have brought on Jacques Cousteau in a bid to win it late on.

it is discriminatory because?….
Imagine if you’re from a tattooed bigoted 1690 slapped on the forehead kind of parent…how do you think your kid is going to integrate into a Catholic school?
What would happen to a child brought up in that background in a Catholic school?
Irrespective if you think the parents are knuckle-draggers or not, it’s whether you’d honestly believe the kid would or wouldn’t get a hard time at that school, from 4 to 17 with no bullying, ahem who is kidding who

If you took CQN as a measure I would say it’s swinging toward yes in the last few weeks.
Very unscientific I know. But I’m feeling it…..
================================
I think it’s just a few animated separatists posting repeatedly.
The level of traffic on electronic media by the nats has been relentless.
I heard the you gov pollster top man say on Radio tonight that his company would like to erase that one poll in favour of the nats from the record as it was rogue.
Personally, I think that singular poll was enough to galvanise a lazy No campaign to get its finger out.
My contention is that poll will go down in history as the reason Scotland failed to gain separation.
Snake
You continually mistake left wing for populism
The populism of the nationalists has always been a feature of their make up
That’s why they like to create scapegoats!
Blame London -blame the English-etc
They also try to appear to be all things to all men
Cutting Corporation Tax yet spending more on welfare etc
Promising better prices for farmers and fishermen yet lower prices for consumers
It’s all populism
The notion that Scotland is willing to pay higher taxes for better public services has never been proved but it males people feel better about themselves- populism again!

1-0 Bayern, Boateng.
Out of interest how many people who attend Catholic schools actually attend mass on a Sunday?
Not been in a Scottish chapel for a while but my understanding is it is mid 20% but I was told by a teacher in a Catholic primary school that if its first Communion, Confirmation, Christmas or Easter the numbers go up. The Grandparents like it was what she said.
Week to week many if not most do not attend.
Therefore, is it reasonable to say that the prominence of religion in Scottish and European society at large is now almost exclusively the preserve of people over 40 or even 55?
If that is the case then I would argue that growing secularism or just complete disinterest is the real issue and in time the numbers will dwindle further?
Daily Record healine saying if we vote Yes it means RFC don’t owe HMRC any money and they can’t be liquidated. F### me that means not only do the huns come back but Sally will be reponsible for putting 2 teams on the park. I don’t think my sides could survive me laughing that much ;)
the glorious balance sheet
Were catholic schools not established because Protestants did not want their children going to school with Catholics? I might be wrong ….
Would seem ironic to abolish them then eh
Anyway would ( As said earlier) it not be a time to drop all that pish in the event of a yes. A bit like not seeing someone’s colour.

I’m honestly not sure of the point you’re trying to make.
Firstly, do you seriously think a parent like the one you’ve described would send his child to a Catholic school?
Secondly, I think I was right first time. You’re trying to say in a befuddled manner, that we’re as bad as them aren’t you?
Goan the maribor.
Be as well being two teams that screw ma coupon up.
Neganon – aye. Proud. There’s been more to it than CQN amd the incidents you list.
I’ve enjoyed the process. I don’t think you have. But that is probably an attitudinal thing.
People have ripped me a new one over things I’ve typed or said but that’s debate. If you put your head up some people will shoot.
You can get back to being neg about Celtic on Saturday!
My glass remains half full or at worst a tip of the bottle away from a refill.
Walk on with HOPE in yer heart buddy!
Good luck pal.
