RONNY DEILA has revealed he is concerned Emilio Izaguirre will not get a rest from football during the break.

Izaguirre, capped 75 times, is expected to be called up by Honduras for the CONCACAF Gold Cup this summer.

The left-back, who represented his country at last year’s World Cup and at the Gold Cup in 2013, needs proper recovery time, according to his club manager.

Leila said: “He needs a vacation. That’s the most important thing.

“He has played consistently for four or five years without a one week vacation. He’s a strong player, but he needs also to get a rest, so, hopefully, he will not go to play the games in June.”

Players need to be released by their clubs two weeks before the first match, the tournament in Canada and USA runs from 7th July  to 26th July.

However, Honduras have three pre-tournament friendlies in June against Paraguay, Brazil and Mexico.

If selected, that would deny Izaguirre any post-season break and rule him out of Celtic’s early European qualifiers.

Should the Hoops qualify for the Champions League they would begin their European campaign in the second qualifying round with the first leg on 14/15th July and return match a week later.
