DEILA: NO CASE FOR THE DEFENCE

0
RAGING Ronny Deila blamed wayward defending for allowing Motherwell to come from behind to win 2-1 at Parkhead.Following a dull first-half, midfielder Nir Bitton’s deflected shot four minutes after the break put the SPFL champions ahead.

However, the Fir Park side fought back and Louis Moult levelled four minutes later before hitting the winner from the penalty spot in the 59th minute after Jozo Simunovic tripped former Hoops striker Scott McDonald. It was Well’s first win at Celtic Park since 2008 and left the hosts, who have now gone four homes games without a win, one point ahead of Aberdeen, although they have played a game fewer than the Dons.

Deila said: “A lot of things disappointed me. We didn’t play quickly enough in the first-half, we were too narrow and couldn’t open them.

“I think we started the second-half well, got our goal, created a couple more chances, then we played way too open and then you get punished by the counter attacks.

“You have to work really hard defensively and be very compact and we have been that in a lot of games domestically.

“But we were too open and you give the opponent space to play in and get punished in the end

“Overall, a disappointing day, a bad day at work and in the end we deserved to lose.”
