‘DELIGHTED TO BE BACK,’ AMBROSE

CELTIC defender Efe Ambrose admits he is delighted to get a recall for Nigeria after being snubbed.
The versatile player was named as a replacement for injured Chelsea centre-half Kenneth Omeruo ahead of his nation’s friendly games against DR Congo and Cameroon in Belgium.
And Ambrose wants to prove he should be a first pick in the Super Eagles squads in the future.
He said: “I am happy to be back, I have always loved to play for Nigeria and the passion remains the same, just like when I made my debut.
“I want to be a mainstay in the team, but it starts with me at my club side.
“I need to get games at Celtic and make it impossible for the coaches to leave me out.
”I am ready to slot in anywhere the coaches want me to play.”
The Nigerians face DR Congo tonight and Cameroon on Sunday.

Ambrose missed the Hoops’ 2-1 win over Hamilton at New Douglas Park on Sunday through suspension after being sent off the previous week in the goalless draw against Hearts at Parkhead.

He added: “I am fit and ready to go for my country.”
