DEMBELE JUST MISSES OUT ON FIFA AWARD

CELTIC striker Moussa Dembele has missed out on the prestigious FIFA Puskas Award after being shortlisted for the team’s stunning team goal against St Johnstone.

The French ace claimed the final goal in last season’s 5-2 win at McDiarmid Park finishing off a remarkable TWENTY-FIVE pass move.

The strike, which saw every Hoops player get a touch of the ball, was part of the 10 best on the shortlist for the Goal of the Year award, which is voted for by fans.

But FIFA have confirmed the three finalists are Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud for his amazing scorpion kick against Crystal Palace on New Year’s Day, Baroka goalkeeper Oscarine Masuluke and Venezuela womens’ star Deyna Castellanos.

Supporters were invited to vote for their favourite goal from the 10-strike shortlist online.

Dembele’s fabulous effort saw the ball moving all around the pitch before Mikael Lustig found Callum McGregor with a ‘Rabona’ and then the midfielder set up last season’s 32-goal man with a back heel.

A new poll has now opened for the three finalists to discover the best goal of 2017. Voting will conclude a week on Monday at The Best FIFA Football Awards ceremony in London.
