CELTIC’S Hampden matchwinner Moussa Dembele has missed out on the chance to be named Europe’s best young player.
Bayern Munich star Renato Sanches scooped the prestigious 2016 Golden Boy award – which is run by Italian newspaper Tuttosport.
Hoops’s 14-goal frontman Dembele – who netted the winner against Sevco Rangers in the Betfred League Cup semi-final yesterday – finished second in the fan vote, but failed to crack the top 10 which is voted on by European football journalists.
Portuguese playmaker Sanches played a key role for his national side when they won Euro 2016 and secured a £27.5 million move from Benfica to the German giants in the summer
Manchester United kid Marcus Rashford finished second and Sanches’s Bayern team-mate Kingsley Coman finished in third place.
