Demonising liquidation carries risk

990

I didn’t hear the scores of other games this weekend until today when I read a red card protest (remember the day Celtic fans gave birth to this concept?) occurred at Ibrox to demonstrate disapproval to any potential new owner who plans to liquidate Rangers.

It would be preferable to everyone if Rangers paid their bills, restoring a degree of dignity, although apparently no one is offering to do this.  Publicly bidders for the club will all confirm their preference is to exit administration via a Creditors Voluntary Arrangement (CVA).  Offering pennies in the pound for a company is unquestionably a great deal, for the buyer, but whoever is nominated as preferred bidder this week is likely to have a serious option to liquidate the club.

Demonising the liquidation option carries risks for Rangers fans.  Short of raising considerably more money than they have thus far and paying their bills, there is little fan power can do right now.  If liquidation is the best option for creditors it will happen, better to accept the reality of the situation.  Whatever the resulting phoenix club is called, if the new owners inherit animosity from the start it will only diminish the potential of their new club.

Hmmmmm. I’m not too sure. I thought it started with a “C”. I’m sure there was a light bulb in their logo. Can’t quite remember. Late 80’s early 90’s. Total scandal. We got totally ripped off.

    I do recall us getting shafted,as you say,by a TV company too,in Lanarkshire-JVC?

Maybe the locals can remind us. being from Kilwinning, being shafted by one big company after another ceased to be a surprise eventually.

Edward Ursus. I take the point you make that you are not responsible for the mess Rangers are in but then again a clever man like you must understand how they got into the mess in the first place. However, like every Rangers fan I know you want to wash your hands of any blame now a bit of humilty would not go amiss and an apology from Rangers fans including yourself to all the clubs your club has cheated over the years would imo have been more appropriate than to say “Well Bhoys I wasnt to blame” its called taking the rough with the smooth.Edward you like the rest of the Rangers fans celebrated winning trophies while your club cheated the tax man and created an un-even playing field but still do not accept any wrong doing but are clamering to pay back a pittance of what you stole.Sorry Edward but I dont see you as the respectable face of Rangers ( as there is no such thing) I see you as just another supporter of a corupt organisation.Yours in Sport. What about all the fuds like Nacho Nogoals and Fleckinho having to get the tattoos lasered off? there would be a queue a mile long for that job.

I don’t know if anybody has already raised the following issue with Celtic regards my post below, but imo it should be high on the boards agenda in the next week or so

On the 29th April Rangers will have 7,000 fans in the away section at CP. Going by their previous behaviour in visits to Paradise and with anger growing within their support over their inevitable liquidation, vandalism in that part of the ground on the night is a certainty.

    The questions are as follows.

Who will pay for the damage when they are liquidated?

Should the club be asking the administrators for a payment upfront in lieu of the destruction caused on their previous visits?

No payment. No tickets for their support

    ——————————————————————————————————-

Was just saying the very same thing to my bro.

They will be some serious vandalism at the away corner.

Celtic should be telling the SPL if Ragers don’t give the club a refundable deposit to cover such an event then they shall receive zero tickets.

    Hail hail

Integral to the corporate model, as it obtains in the US, is a system of disproportionate wealth redistribution to board members and very senior management. In the last forty years while US bosses have been awarding themselves cash tsunamis the average US factory/manual worker has earned no more in real terms than he did in 1976.

Corporate America is pleased with this system and it has a genuine interest in maintaining it. That’s why corporate America selects the Presidential candidates people’s for the American people.

Corporate America resents every thin dime spent on the poor, the sick, the aged and the unemployed – because they think these people are of no account and more importantly because their greed is terminal. They can’t say this out loud so they hire politicians, ‘think-tanks’ and economists to put an acceptable gloss on it.

  13. Edward Ursus on

JungleJim :- Yes I did support Rangers during some of the first and all of the second. As far as the first goes I did grow increasingly uneasy about the sectarian signing policy and made no bones about it which cost me some so called friends. In this way my position was similar to Andy Cameron who stood up at AGM’s and stated the policy was wrong, he also lost “friends” over this. You may feel I was wrong to do this and that’s a fair enough view but they were my team and I did.

As far as the financial situation and the tax avoidance goes, like almost everyone I had no idea this was going on until the last couple of seasons so I had no way of having a view on it.

Now that I know of it do I think it wrong? Yes. Without a doubt.

  24. would be an eye opening spreadsheet / matrix if someone produced the total monies earned (since ebt’s introduced) by those at ibrox who benefited from the great football tax swindle (footballers, directors, other employees….) and their current and past positions within Scottish football. Would give an insight into the scale of the infection.
