Manchester City central player, Jason Denayer, will join Galatasaray before tomorrow’s transfer deadline. The central defender was on Celtic’s radar after the injury to Rivaldo Coetzee, and all other things being equal, I believe the player would be happy to head back to Celtic, where he played season 2014-15, but City are set to conclude the deal with the Turkish club.
Celtic will soon have Dedryck Boyata and Erik Sviatchenko back from injury, while Jozo Simunovic was rested for recent games on plastic pitches, but is available for selection alongside 19-year-old Kris Ajer.
With three senior central defenders already at the club, plus one development prospect, I believe City were concerned that Jason would not have seen the development opportunities he enjoyed at Celtic first time around.

If none of the above arrive tomorrow then this will be a poor transfer window.

My tuppence worth on whether we are backing BR or not, personally I think they are. I cannot state categorically that all of the signings and re-signings of those are still at the Club or who have been brought back (Paddy) have been at the request of Brendan. However, I am pretty sure that Brendan thus far has the Players at his disposal that he wants. I also believe the areas we are currently trying to improve in the Team are at the bequest of Brendan. He is being handsomely I am sure, he loves the Club and I am sure the Board will try to bring in the Players he wants, they tried but failed to get Paddy on a permanent deal but it was not for the want of trying.
On a personal level, I would like a Striker and a CH, maybe Brendan doesn’t see the need for a CH, time will tell and Brendan will live with the consequences if there are any, which I doubt.
Yes, I like many others get that end of transfer window feeling when we are all left disappointed and typical Board, we tried but…
Brendan has been here a year, we have been stronger at the end of the previous two transfer windows that he has been here. I believe it will be the same come Friday morning.

I think the rumour is particularly nasty because it maligns Jozo Simunovic and
makes Brendan Rodgers out to be a liar as well “ we asked him and he was feeling a
knock, so we decided not to risk him “
We may never know but I treat all anti Celtic rumours as Sevconian first and foremost
then wait and see, its a policy thats served me well.
I prefer to believe that Jozo Simunovic’s fitness is a peculiarly fragile thing, and that Celtic
were tempted to offload before and might be again to allow Brendan to choose his own centrebacks.
But it won’t be before this window closes, rumours or not.
Surely it must be a concern the amount of games that Jozo does not manage to play for a young player ? I honestly believe we should be considering moving him on and bringing in a Centre Back who is not injury prone. I am also concerned about the length of time that Dembele has been injured for and also that Craig Gordon has not been at his best recently loseing goals at his near post. We seem to be struggling to bring in players and are now looking at loan players as the way forward but even if the loan players play a big part in our season we will be back in the same problamatic situation next season. I still believe our recruitment should be better planned we are a big club and the world is our oyster but we seem to look in the overpriced English market. H.H.

All sort of checks and balances have to be taken into account, does the player want to come? Does his agent want him to? Does the current club want to sell? At how much? How much does he want per week? Bonuses?
I wish it were straight forward, make an offer have that accepted, offer wages, have that accepted this sign on the dotted line.
But it isn’t like that.
Anyhoos, hope you’re well and looking forward to see Ntcham, Benyu, Eboue and Paddy line up in the new look Celtic. With Johnny Hayes coming on to snatch a winner here and there.

I agree with KJ on this one …. it seems to me that if we want the truth, the only way we will get it is if the Board takes the lead … the only way the Board willl take the lead is if they are forced to by Celtic fans … the only leverage the fans have is money (or more accurately, threatening to withhold) …
for me, if people dont, then they cant really expect to be told the truth …

Some don’t like it but we all know that buying players to develop and selling them on for significant amounts has been a core part of the clubs strategy for some time. When you see the Feds that are being paid for players with no pedigree at all in the epl, keeping hold of every player that just finished a season unbeaten domestically and had some good performances against very good teams in the champions league shouldn’t be ignored
We’ll never know for sure whether anyone did make decent offers for any of the players but we did spend a fair amount on a central midfielder and then resign another on a new contract when reportedly someone was willing to pay us a siseable fee for him
I can’t remember many summers when we’ve had such a good season, and with so many players coveted by big clubs when there clearly been no interest in cashing in.
It’s not backing the manager in the same way as giving him a lot of cash but it does show we’re prepared to listen if he says he wants to keep players

Only moan from me is the old excuse it’s complicated and hard to get players signed, it’s no different for us than it is for any other big club in a small nation and that is who we tend to compete with when it comes to players
