Denayer set for Galatasaray

552

Manchester City central player, Jason Denayer, will join Galatasaray before tomorrow’s transfer deadline. The central defender was on Celtic’s radar after the injury to Rivaldo Coetzee, and all other things being equal, I believe the player would be happy to head back to Celtic, where he played season 2014-15, but City are set to conclude the deal with the Turkish club.

Celtic will soon have Dedryck Boyata and Erik Sviatchenko back from injury, while Jozo Simunovic was rested for recent games on plastic pitches, but is available for selection alongside 19-year-old Kris Ajer.

With three senior central defenders already at the club, plus one development prospect, I believe City were concerned that Jason would not have seen the development opportunities he enjoyed at Celtic first time around.

  1. TGM- I think Denswil the CB might be the man, could possibly move Erik out to cover most of it,

  2. Lisbon Lions Upper @ 8.34

    True.

Not all Celtic fans have noticed or acknowledge that the Celtic market place has clearly changed by maxing out of prices and the Olivier Ntcham’s in our price range of £4.5M is as rare as rocking horse poo.

Sone Aluko for £7.5M? means we couldn’t afford a player that is nowhere near Celtic class, players we bought for £2 – £3M are nearly extinct.

No wonder we’re active on loan stars, especially for cover and buying Paddy Roberts for 2 ½ seasons seems like a good idea to me.

How about big VVD money to cover any spend :-)

Hoi empty legs, how abooot empty hied :-)))

  4. And in relation to Paddy coming on loan, didn’t we sign Sammi on loan a couple of times before signing on a permanent contract?

PS, debating isn’t lecturing, you I’ll lecture, everyone else I’ll discuss and debate.

    Bit half empty fella.

As I see it, Hayes in to help provide very good back up to Sinclair and upgrade on GMS, Paddy back when lots said he wouldn’t and closer to perm, NCham an upgrade on Armstrong, Eboue a shoe-in for Scott Brown, the PSG fella an upgrade on Cifci and succession to Dembele maybe and Coetzee would have been a left sided player to help centre half and left back. Think we may get 1 of these tomorrow or wait for the SA in January…

Looks to me like priorities being addressed. If we choose to see that.

Think into next year priorities may move to goalkeeper and RB….

If the Window slams closed without any further additions I wouldn’t consider it an overly poor transfer window, my Willo window reference was a bit tongue in cheek. Oliver and Paddy joining have made it a quite decent window. Disagree about Johnny, looks a bit lost at the moment, hopefully he comes good but I still see him as a bit part squad player at best. Even great managers make transfer mistakes, not that I am saying BR has made one with JH. I am however still of the opinion that a 1st team ready quality CH should have been a priority. Allegedly the South African lhad was it. The way it is looking we didn’t have much of a plan B – our chasing Jason D seems to back up that theory.

  7. Names already out there

  10. What’s all the panic – Transfer Deadline not till midnight tomorrow?

    T – transfer

    U – unknown

    L – last-minute

    S – signing

    A – agreed!

On the subject of Centre-Backs it could be worse – I can recall last minute deals that should’ve been accompanied by the theme music from Hitchcock’s Bates Motel.

    Think we’re agreeing fella.

Hayes is a good player and an upgrade on GMS who was the go-to guy when Scott was injured…he’ll do well. Too early to rule him out and I don’t see him as a ECL starter. I’d have liked a CH earlier but I think we’ve been unlucky with injuries and the SA guy’s transfer collapse – BR took a risk there.

Transfer madness now kicks in for 24 hours. Maybe the Denswill guy is the one ??? Know nada about him tbh….

    Hail hail

  12. Incidentally

I do think there may be still 2 or 3 who could move out

Young Liam Henderson could be loaned or sold for an undisclosed fee ?

I thought Gamboa looked ok when played, but could be moved out ?

    Erik Svietchenko ????

  13. Cheers Gary67…..

Cowiebhoy …. how ya’ doing? Looking forward to catching up. My case for tomorrow resolved, and I am enjoying my discussion with doc … he speaks his mind, which I appreciate, but always fairly, which I also appreciate … so, he’s going to have to put up with me for a bit longer today….

on that note ….doc… when did our Board know about the non-appeal of LNS? it seems at the time… when did the fans know? not then. When did our Board know about the 5WA? it is inconceivable that the Board didn’t know at or around the time, but again, it is impossible to know, as the Board dont feel that they owe fans and shareholders any explanation for anything …

it is the duty of the Board to know these things, and act in the best interest of the club…

I think the Board and Brendan are buidling a great team… but I think the Board are building that team in a toxic waste dump of a league … which I fear will, inevitably, drive away good people like BR …

cleaning up the game should have been our number one focus, because we stand to lose the most if we dont …. but I think our Board saw themselves as sitting on a branch of a dying tree, and were afraid to start cutting …. not saying that they had an easy choice, but, on the evidence so far, I am not sure they made the right ones…

  15. Lads, had a Spurs supporting mate tell me this evening that Dembele has met Spurs reps twice this week. Anyone know anything of this? Please tell me the big man is going nowhere.

    Regards

  16. CowieBhoy,

Agreed with moving another couple on.

Henderson will do a job for someone, Hibs?

Gamboa looked decent but Ralston seems to have over taken him.

    Can’t believe I just agreed!!!

as for the transfer window … I actually dont care if we sign anyone else … our squad is good enough to run away with the league .. and should win the treble (but, that can take a bit of luck) …

but, although improving, we are still a bit away from competing at the upper echelon in europe… and it is going to take a few seasosn to get us there …

for me, we gambled on getting into the CL, but we did! for me, this was job no. 1, 2 and 3 for this season … and we already hit those targets ….

we got the money …we reinvest, and keep improving … evertything else is a bonus now … as for the CL results, we will win a game or two… and will likely take a few humpings … that’s okay…for this season, I’m happy we are there, as long as we learn, and keep improving …

  21. Brendan will walk away if he isn’t backed?

    Imagine this–

    January 2018

BR- ” I haven’t been backed by Celtic so I quit, the Celtic board expected me to work with a squald of (young) international players worth only about £90m ”

    Gies peace

  22. MIT, I think the fans did know about the non-appeal of the LNS d vision, might be a bad memory from me of course.

My question back is what could they have done?

Our game is run by committee, we have to get a consensus for action.

The EBT issue was still live.

From where we are today the club(Board) have called for a review, so as of now what else can they have done?

Historically they could have done things differently, easy example, first time we played Sevco we should have welcomed a new club and rival while lamenting the passing of an old foe(malign).

But from today going forward the Board have done what I think they can.

And I’m also enjoying the debate:-)

    Dinnae listen to the Roaster!
