Gustaf Lagerbielke was playing first team football in the Swedish Allsvenskan, a stronger league than the Scottish Premiership, when he moved to Celtic just over a year ago. He soon played a crucial role in an early season win at Ibrox which proved to be so pivotal later in the campaign. He also pitched in with the winner in our first home Champions League victory in a decade.
Now 24, is he is on loan at Dutch side Twente. It’s difficult to muster a firm view one way or the other on Gus. His appearances were few and far between, and often on the most demanding occasions. Five of his seven league appearances resulted in clean sheets. His winning goal against Feyenoord offset two yellow cards in the earlier game in Rotterdam.
Signings don’t all work but for someone as young as Gus, they should result in a player continuing to develop. If new arrivals are not playing regularly for Celtic, we need to find them football elsewhere. A loan with option to buy at Oostende was enough to convince Philippe Clement’s Brugge to pay £4m for Jack Hendry just two months after the player officially left Celtic. That loan was good for the player and good for Celtic. Brugge even made a profit on the player when he left for Saudi last summer, although things didn’t work out at Brugge.

Back to Basics – Glass Half Full on 10th September 2024 9:01 pm
In recent fan survey I suggested a Chief Customer Officer role be created at boardroom level.
Someone with a bit of juice needs to own the engagement and comes with the fan base.
===============
Someone needs to take responsibility as a full time job.
Funnily enough at the First Fan’s Forum I suggested someone should be appointed to monitor the internet to see themes developing and reply was I was doing that job. To late in years to take it on now .
On social media one of the memes/themes perceptions is that CQN is used by Peter Lawwell to get his messages across, so it is not as if using it as a tool to get messages out is not understood inside CP.
It’s that the messaging is only one way and the perception is that the source, for better or worse is not to be trusted.
I think this is a feeling reciprocated towards the support by The Board and building trust would be essential as all good relationships depend on it.
The formation of a Shadow Board in line with recommendations in England by Tracey Crouch former MP to give supporters a greater say in the running of their clubs would be worth pursuing, especially if it becomes law in England, putting pressure on The Scottish Government to follow suit.

One of our most underutilised, underfunded and woeful proucts we see coming out of Celtic FC
Could be so much better
So much more reliable
And generate millions if they could just get it together
It can’t be that hard to do???
Sure we have board members who are up on this???
And it would be this chap
BRIAN ROSE – NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Great to hear that. I think he’s played every game for Queen’s Park. He might not end up a first team pick for us but hopefully he’s over his injuries and has a good career somewhere (hopefully good enough for us).
Quadraphenian.
It is always worth it to do so. 👍

Quadrophenian I mean
To much ra in my head :-))

Did you get near Ben Nevis? Or,Steall waterfall?
When in Fort William the other week?
HH
Clunks @ 1158
I remember using CTV in the early 2000’s in China will dial in internet and a 4” square screen on low res. – you had to rely on the cadence of the player to work out who was on the ball. Therefore – much improved since then!
An Tearmann @ 1:06
We flew in from Houston on Thursday, climbed Ben Nevis on Friday and enjoyed the demolishing of the hun on Sunday – back to Houston on Labor Day Monday.
If Carlsberg did long weekends, braw 🍀⛰️⚽️
Big week ahead I hope all our players return fit after international duty.International football bores me.
A player on loan not good enough for us.
Enough about failed projects let’s focus on Brendans fledglings and 39year ago yesterday we lost the greatest manager ever gone but not forgotten.

Good morning from North Staffs where it’s raining ‘cats and dogs’. Before anyone gets upset no animals were harmed in the use of this idiom.
Good Morning Celts…
ZIGGYDOC1 @ 1:01 AM,
Yes, great seeing Dane coming back to his best, a big lad who certainly could come back to Celtic and develop as a home grown talent.
Scotland U21 has Belgium U21 next in an important encounter – wonder if the “promoted” players like Arne Engels and Ben Doak will be going to help their U21s out?
Arne was suspended for Belgium’s game yesterday…
Auldheid…
The c-suite at Celtic PLC looks light, a COO with a bit of gravitas and football nouse could be a benefit to the Board with communications a key part of the role
AN TEARMANN @ 7:38 PM,
Yes, read your comment a few times, no cobwebs here:))
Hail Hail
MAESTRO @ 7:31 AM,

Think you might have that poster wrong…
Apart from the previous incessant trolling HS is also a multimoniker
So no wonder he’s defending Darwin & Co

No cobwebs eh.
But a sliverous evasive answer all the same Chairbhoy
Hot Smoked jungle jim told the blog of his change in moniker, just as Gold Coast Tom did back in the day to TmcL
Both TmcL and Hot Smoked are not anonymous, several on here have met them and they attend Celtic park
Unlike Dobwin/Cloud9/jhb/Andrena/Tommy a known troll who you descend to making a comparison with re jim, that is pretty low.i repeat jim is not anonymous.
Strange how you assert about being trolled Chairbhoy, and up pops first time poster chairman, repeating your words,(unless….)
no cobwebs there as you mirror each other in your low claim.

Good morning to An Tearmann and BRRB. I hope Glasgow is dryer than Derry.

On this day. What else was notable about this particular game?
Scullybhoy
I think 5 goals each for Bobby and Stevie was notable enough
Kevin Hughes
Enjoyed reading the names of some of our previous players again but where are the Jean-Joel Perrier-Doumbe’s of yesteryear? He won us a Scottish Cup 🤣
scullybhoy
Lou Macari’s first full game for Celtic
Think also Kenny Dalglish played in the away leg
