The bright spot in Sunday’s defeat at St Johnstone was the performance of Viljami Sinisalo in goal. He could do little to stop the early header which cost us the points, but thereafter handled the ball well, distributed successfully and made one excellent save. I want to see more of him.
Brendan Rodgers can be patient with the 23-year-old, who is under contract for another for another four years. We have Kasper Schmeichel contracted next season and no matter how well Viljami performs between now and the end of the season, there is little chance he will replace Kasper next term. But the Dane is 38; retirement is a high probability in May 2026.
Development work is required between now and then to get Viljami ready as first choice keeper. Playing the last two months of the season, and perhaps winning the Cup, will go a long way to achieving this objective.

Happy Wednesday eve!
Tumbleweed. Wonder why?
Indeed Tumbleweed.
VERY early days, but I like what I’ve seen and heard of Sinisalo.
My highlight to date?
Second half versus Hearts.
He roared at the back four to get out.
I heard it.
So did they.
👍
SCOTTISH GRAND NATIONAL this Saturday.
At the moment there 33 runners for the Race, with ACE Irish Trainer WILLIE MULLINS having a THIRD of the Runners in the field.
Last Saturday WILLIE had the 1st,2nd, 3rd and 5th in the Grand National.
I was lucky enough to get the FORECAST on the National because I backed Four of his Horses to Finish in 1st and 2nd spot. The ODDS for the Two Horses in the Forecast were 33/1 and 7/1.
The Forecast paid out £222.58 for a £1 Stake.
Therefore it MAY be worthwhile in taking Four or Five of Willies Horses in a ” PERM” to try and get the Forecast UP, should Willie repeat his great feat in last Saturdays Grand National by having Two of his Horses finishing 1st and 2nd in this weeks SCOTTISH Grand National ?
NOTHING would surprise me about Willies Training abilities for this Saturdays big Race. The man is a GENIUS, when it comes to Horse flesh.
For the TRICAST Bets, the same ” PERM” theory applies, as IF you fancy trying to win the Tri Cast for the Scottish Grand National…the 1st, 2nd and 3rd…then you could try PERMING Four or Five of Willies Horses to finish in ANY Order in the 1st THREE PLACES ?
I will be having a Big BASH at BOTH the Forecast and the Tri Cast for the big race with Willies Horses being uppermost in my mind.
MON the Willie Bhoy.

As to his development next season, Pablo …
… I’ll use that to re-present my minimum & maximum minutes yap.
The one position in the team that invariably gets a pass from “he needs rested” discussions is goalkeeper.
Proactive approach required.
I’d play Viljami in the league cup and the lower intensity domestic games (most of these at home).
With Kasper being our go to keeper for Europe and all games against R2ngers, Hearts, Hibs, Aberdeen plus away games where he’ll be busy.
Easy on paper.
Depends on fixture calendar of course.
Regular time needed for both rather than gluts and gaps.
To come onto the blog bemoaning the lack of posts and pages when you were the cheerleader of posters being banned for having opinions that you disagreed with, is a bit rich, even sleekit, maybe even hunnish.
Big Jimmy – great stuff from Scottish Grand National followingbon from your Aintree update a few days ago.
Genuine question.
Could you make a living from this lark if you did it full time?
I ask because you seem to have some kind of established model …
… which regularly yields three figure returns from single figure stakes !
i would be leaving the scottish national betting well alone until thursdays 48 hour decs. this long spell of dry weather is likely to mean some get pulled out of it

Cheers Mate.
I do NOT have any kind of ” Secret Formula” etc when it comes to selecting Horses.
Whether its the FLAT and/or JUMP Racing, I tend to back TRAINERS and/or JOCKEYS….and a Mixture of BOTH ?
By doing the above I can SOMETIMES disregard a Horses recent so called ” FORM”, and simply concentrate my mind on Trainers and/or Jockeys ( or BOTH ?).
To try and answer you question, I would LOVE to be good/lucky enough to be a Professional Gambler IF I had major funds available and IF my Heart could withstand the ” STRESS” ?
LOL.
To ANYONE who MAY be interested in having a few Bets each Day/Week….be prepared to have many days WITHOUT any winners, and always ONLY Gamble what you can safely afford to LOSE !
HH Mate.
I’m not a fan of swapping out keepers unnecessarily, it tends to upset the defensive relationships and can prove unsettling.
A lot of things went wrong in the ten in a row season but the fact we couldn’t stick to a keeper for any length of time was one of the big reasons we were all over the place at the back.
Kasper has been a fantastic signing. It’s easy to forget now just how good he was in the first half of the season. Sinasalo looks a good prospect.
lets all do the huddle on 8th April 2025 12:43 pm

you MAY well be correct Mate, and that is WHY I havent placed any Online Bets on the Scottish Grand National and/or the Scottish Champion Hurdle due this weekend…as I will wait til Thursday/Friday to view the full list of runners etc.
Willie Mullins ALSO has a few Horses that MAY run in the Scottish Champion Hurdle ?
It would NOT surprise me IF Willie Mullins Trained the Winners of BOTH Big Races this weekend.

I meant to add to my Post at 1.42pm…I meant MY Favourite Horse Trainers and/or Jockeys over several years are the ones I tend to go for.

Great signing double by Brendan , – one to use, and one to keep. Kasper Schmeichel will stake a claim, for the Cup final provided we make it.
Barkas was willing CSC
Good afternoon all from the beer garden at the Brazen Head. £3 a pint, be rude not to.
BRS
Ready, willing and unable I’m afraid.
Hopefully he isn’t still lurking on CQN. Wouldn’t want to upset him. :)

I’m sure the small doll will be glad you are spending your money wisely and not in one of those poncey £6 a pint shops in the Merchant City.
Trump won’t be able to get you with his tariffs.

Spending your money wisely and ole BRRB shouldn’t be in the same sentence. 🤣
As a former fellow pro-goalkeeper (one season for Dumbarton in the old Reserve League West as an 18 year old) I can spot a fellow talent… I really like the look of him. He’s got a very agile frame but most importantly of all you can see in his eyes his self-confidence. I have high hopes for this lad.

They wur oan!
Definitely better to develop Sinisalo than to develop Sinusitis !
HENOSEYOUKNOW CSC
I assume Bain is retiring this year; or joining Falkirk when they come up
Sinasalo should have got the cup games to develop him
Looks confident and that is half the battle as a Celtic keeper
I love Bonner but he lacked confidence for years
We have 2 big games coming(shirley) , win them and debate the squad later; I’m behind the current lot and manager.
Look at Dunfermline to see what panic is
serious non-football question.
apart from barrys orange ford car, which i assume has to be an import, does anyone actually buy anything “american” ?
apple and dell manufacture in europe and even china.
nike is made in far east.
is anybody daft enough to be still using facebook or x ?
amazon, might be an american owner, but their goods sold are from all over the globe.
does anyone even own a tesla / and why would you really.
its all got a bit daft, my old work colleagues are looking to move to italy, ireland and portugal,
our scottish american bhoys, do you ever see a time you will retire home ? or will your kids take advantage of i assume dual passports /
thoughts ?

St Stivs
We consume US output mostly though media and finance, that’s what Trump is vexed about
He want physical exports and less overseas ownership of US bonds
There is no social politics in US other than funding a few schools and health by Democrats
Economically they did a Thatcher in the 80s and he wants to change that in one term.
Fair play to him but i see carnage
Ps my wife did the NY half marathon a frw weeks ago with limited training- wee smasher
The cost of basic pasta and g&t shocked even a Loreto private school girl 😎
St Stivs
Exactly what we’ve been saying about imports etc.
It will be a logistical nightmare trying to sort out Amazon goods..
Tesla…haaa you would have to be mad.. sorry Tesla owners !
Fortunate… through hard work to live a comfortable life but not in America, even though my neighbor lives there a few months out the year..
Sit back don’t panic and watch this unfold …. This time next year we’ll all be…….. erm skint!!🫣🤪😂
Sinisalo is the latest keeper at the club and we seem to be producing our own at the Academy. Joe Hart, Kasper Bain , Fraser Forster and Craig Gordon all seem to hit top for Celtic. Only Barkas has failed to thrive with us.
Credit must go to Steve Woods as our top goalkeeping Coach. He really is an unsung hero at Celtic. We have top keepers some of who have depth of experiences. Joe had 75 England caps and 600 games, Kasper 114 caps and over 600 games. They have only good things to say about Steve
Its about time this excellent coach got the credit he deserves
cb,
so i read over the weekend conflicting reports on how the Donalds tariffs polics is based on mckinlay from over 100 years ago.
the reports have everyone from the average earning american facing inflation and big layoffs via the DOGE programme in particular, to the bilioainrres literally losing billions in shares value,
how does any of the policy make areica wealthy again ?
my ex emploer manufactures in Brazil, huge plants, the feasabily of moving production to mainland usa was a non starter and became a sort of if we take a quarter of the business is american, and we cant sell fairly there, then why bother at all, because at the moment, USA competition is not geared up to fill the gap.
we live in interesting times.
Coneybhoy 3.49.
Was in there for a pint last June, good pub.
Saint Stivs,
Very valid questions. My 3 ghirls and 1 bhoy will be trying to get dual citizenship. I have lived over here for 31 years and am not a citizen. I up my green card every ten years but feel that for safety’s sake I need to get the citizenship very soon. It is not the same country that I came over to 30 odd years ago. Politics are so dirty right now and the country is split in so many ways. I live in the south, so huge trump country. I cannot talk about politics in my classroom as I will offend someone who will then tell their mommies and daddies and Coach McBride will get fired for giving an honest opinion. My twin daughters are in college and are very smart and know what is going on. My other daughter is a senior in high school and my son is 16 and has two more years to go. I have many, hopefully, years to go before I can and want to retire. I do miss home and my family, but trying to take a family of 6 back to Scotland is too expensive. My wife is a Principle in one of our schools, the headmistress, so we make good money, but it all goes to our kids edumacation. I see kids in my hallways walking around with their MAGA tshirts on,and cannot believe that we are politicizing teenagers. Sorry for the long post.

GGH re Barkas
“Ready, willing and unable”

Bigbhoy – with you re Stevie Woods.
Improves every keeper and is a great bloke to boot.
(As opposed to a great bloke to kick)
Interesting …
Peter Navarro is Trump’s lead trade advisor.

Celtic were founded on charity, so it’s great that fans remember their routes.
Part of green brigade statement.
“Hundreds of women will parade through the city centre street this month in the first large Orange Order event of the year.
The Ladies Orange Association of Scotland has planned a procession to take place on Sunday, April 27.
Around 500 people are expected to take part, including Orange bands, on the route starting at Holland Street in the city centre at 1.15pm.”
