DEVLIN REUNITES WITH McINNES

CAMMY DEVLIN, who was linked with Celtic after the arrival of Ange Postecoglou in June 2021, has reunited with his ex-Hearts boss Derek McInnes at Ibrox.

The Australian midfielder became a free agent when his contract with Hearts expired yesterday – and the 28-year-old midfielder was announced this morning as the Govan side’s sixth signing of the summer.

Devlin has agreed a two-year deal with the club holding an option of another 12 months, according to a report in the Daily Record.

The competitive middle-of-the-park operator is the second Tynecastle player to link up again with McInnes following Scotland striker Lawrence Shankland.

SECOND BEST…Cammy Devlin can only look on as Reo Hatate gets on the ball in a Premiership encounter at Tynecastle last season.

Devlin was one of the names considered by former Aussie World Cup gaffer Postecoglou when he took over at Parkhead five years ago.

Kyogo Furuhashi was his priority signing and the Japanese hitman was joined by the likes of Cameron Carter-Vickers, Filip Jota, Liel Abada, Joe Hart, Josip Juranovic, Carl Starfelt, Liam Scales, James McCarthy and Giorgos Giakoumakis as the squad underwent a massive overhaul.

Devlin left Newcastle Jets for the Edinburgh club in a £350,000 move that summer.

As McInnes continues his revamp of the team that finished third last season 10 points adrift of Martin O’Neill’s men, Scotland centre-back John Souttar and Brazilian striker Danilo are on the way out.
