Dickson: Okay, it should have been lodged with the SPL then

350

The transcript for the HMRC v Rangers First Tier Tribunal (FTT) runs to 1126 pages. It will take weeks, perhaps months, to distil the content into what remains relevant to the SFA’s decision to reject the SPFL’s request to review issues surrounding Rangers EBTs. For today:

Current SFA Council member (and Newco Rangers Head of Football Administration), Andrew Dickson, was cross-examined by Mr Thomson (representing HMRC).

On 18 April 2011, Mr Thomson asked Mr Dickson why a Trust schedule was not lodged with the football authorities, Mr Dickson replied:

It should not “Not necessarily” have been lodged.

When asked by Mr Thomson “What possibly basis do you have for saying that it should not have been lodged?”

Mr Dickson replied, “The SPL didn’t – never contacted us coming looking for it”.

After failing to convince Mr Thomson that lodging the schedule late rendered there no point to lodging it at all, Mr Thomson puts him on the spot:

“I’m asking you about the fact that it should have been lodged. It’s supposed to be lodged early. Just because you don’t lodge it timeously, doesn’t mean to say that you’re not then under an obligation to lodge it, Mr Dickson.”

To this, Mr Dickson concedes:

“Okay, it should have been lodged with the SPL then.”

capture-20170918-123525

A current SFA Council member, in a court of law, accepted that Oldco Rangers did not lodge paperwork to the SPL relating to EBT payments, which he accepted should have been lodged.

Mr Dickson’s SFA colleagues decided to reject the SPFL’s request for a review into the matter. You can draw your own conclusions as to why.

Just popping in to give my condolences to Paul Wilson’s family. RIP Paul Wilson. An excellent but under-rated player who ‘suffered’ because Big Jock never made up his mind on Paul’s best position.

Off to dreamland up at 0400 for flight to sunny Spain or it better be sunny Spain!

Neganon, did you know Ian Weir who went to St Pius secondary . ian will be about 56 now .

Ian had very sallow skin and used to get grief for his skin colour . Ian’s older brother, Alan, had red hair and very fair skinned.

Ian was a good player . He played Junior for Pollok . In a Junior final Pollok were playing Auchinleck at Hampden. . He was Pollok’s left back in that game.

Ian got the treatment off the Auchinleck fans due to his sallow skin and no comment at all by the STV commentary team on Ian’s treatment.

Republican, Brendan ‘the dark’ Hughes was christened ‘darkie ‘ by the English media at the behest of British intelligence to try and alienate him even more to sections of society. A book about Brendan Hughes, beyond the grave , explains it and his knickname being changed by British Intelligence .

My Granda served with the Brits in WWII. He never forgave himself for not going off to fight in Spain in 36 and on our frequent trips to the Barras on a Saturday morn he made a frequent detour to the monument at Customs House Quay and we prayed a silent prayer.

I always took great delight when he showed me the thumb of a Nazi he cut off during his many exploits behind enemy lines. Alas, he had a wicked sense of humour and the thumb in that match box with the whole in side, surrounded in bloody cotton wool, was of course his own.

Turns out the closest he ever got to enemy lines was bringing up reserves in his truck. The Brits had issues arming him with a gun :-)

  7. Late on the evening of November 26, 1969 after a game which ended 3-3 aet the referee took both Billy McNeill and Mario Coluna into his dressing room and Not as the normal practice of leading the two captains to the centre circle to toss the coin so that instantly the spectators would see from the triumphant captain’s reaction who had progressed.

Their respective managers went with them along with the two linesmen and a handful of pressmen, while club officials packed the corridors of Estadio da Luz.

Billy spun the coin and made the call, as everyone bent down to get a look Cesar punched the air when he saw he had made the right call.

A young reserve that was part of the travelling party had sneaked into the dressing room and on seeing Billy’s reaction raced out to tell the Celtic party who were jubilant and much to the consternation of the sms who would learn that night that davie scheitd had been given his comic books.

£3m all in sounds about right, going by what I read on their blogs tho, there is serious friction in the blue room, it was Park Jr who appointed Pedro due to his friendly relationship with Pedro Mendez, nothing like a bit of hun on hun to pass the time of day, I’m sure we will be treated to some soon enough, it’s been a while :-)

    Neganon, thanks for the reply.

When I watched that Junior cup final, it was embarrasing and annoying listening to the abuse Ian received from the Auchinleck fans.

  13. By all accounts Liam Henderson dominated Development game tonight. With our present squad the likes of Liam, Ajer, Gamboa & Benyu are not getting much of a look in.

This in a period when Dembele, Boyata, Eric, Kouassi were out injured. Now that the injuries are clearing up and these Bhoys are coming back it’s going to get even harder to get a break.

Corkcelt, I agree . Gamboa has lost his second choice right back slot to young Ralston. i think Gamboa will be offski in January if Anthony continues to progres.

  20. Looking for some advice.

Going to Ibrox on Saturday with my 2 sons, have always travelled by car in recent years but travelling up by train this weekend. Assuming taking an early taxi to Celtic end will be fine but looking for best way to safely navigate back to city centre after the match?

  21. So sad to hear of the passing of Paul Wilson. I had posters of him, Lou Macari, George Connelly, Kenny Dalglish and my favourite Danny McGrain on my bedroom wall in Partick early 70’s.

    Rest in Peace Paul.

I would walk up Broomloan Rd towards Govan X. Buses, underground and taxi rank there. As Gordy says, most of the huns will have left Ibrox at half time. :)

  24. Agreed Dallas, I think Gamboa will go. We have an embarrassment of riches right now & apart from the ghuys I mentioned above what about. Calvin Miller, Aitchison & Mikey Johnston. We also have Ryan Christie to come back.

I hate seeing young talented home grown kids leave the Club but there doesn’t seem an alternative & of course every window the fans are screaming for new signings..

Modern day history and more besides suggests the SFA would rather Scotland suffered defeat than victory brought by the feet of Celtic players representing North Britain.

The present day ruse is nothing more than a tactic , any Celtic player worth his salt should refuse to represent the SFA.

  30. I remember being at Celtic Park in the mid 70’s and Celtic lost 2 – 3 to a slick Motherwell team. Paul Wilson was immense even though he didn’t score and Celtic lost – I remember leaving the ground bedazzled by the man. There was also a Willie Pettigrew for the Well and I always expected Celtic to sign him, they never did, but he was a smashing player.
