In the absence of Yang, Martin O’Neill will be keen to have as many forward options available as possible, the frame of Kasper Hogh will feature prominently in his thoughts. Injured in our ill-fated adventure in Linz, his return for the trip to Ibrox at the weekend would be welcome.
It would be a risk re-introducing Kasper tomorrow night at St Johnstone, as well as at Ibrox. We have our first Europa League game in nine days, and a league game against Newco three days after that.
For me, there are no good options. Sebastian Tounekti does not have Yang’s physicality. Camilo Duran has played on the left before he came to Celtic, but shifting him out would rob us of our most effective front man, and we would only push Camilo left to make way for an uncertain return of Kasper. Shim Mheuka has yet to score a goal in senior football and would be an interesting pivot, if given a start at Ibrox.
Top priority will be the league game against Newco with the potential to open an even more substantial gap (tomorrow’s results pending). Reaching the League Cup semifinal will be less pressing. I expect Sebastian to start our next two games.

Thank you for posting link, Ziggy.
By a distance, the most impressive speaker on the clip was an 18 year footballer.
By contrast – The guys asking the questions who allegedly work in a communications industry?
Dreadful.

Of the 12 demands listed …
Numbers 1, 3, 4, 5, 8, and 12 float my boat the most.
PS – polite suggestion to CSL.
In published material instead of “demands” use “requests” instead.
You still mean “demands” in truth but it is less confrontational.
Lowers the tone in the lead up to the AGM.
Gives you another 6 inches of moral high ground.

I do agree, of course you can expect him to improve as a player, he’s not at his peak, much of the improvement that comes in the next couple of years before he hits it comes from playing games and learning how to be better – from what he’s learned from coaching but more than anything doing it himself and seeing the results – like all teaching and coaching.
I watched him a bit at the World Cup and he looked very similar to the player we get at Celtic. IIRC he was dropped for the last two games. He finishes a lot games for someone playing in his position, he clearly can run but I dont think its the sort of athleticism thats great for pressing.
Its an extreme example but Maeda is the one of the best pressers in the game because he’s lighting quick over short distances. Wingers generally are quick,in his position you dont have to be but you do need to have enough speed to fill the space or stick with your marker. Matt O’Riley isnt quick but he’s quick enough, Reo was very good at leading the press because he had a turn of speed. You need to be able to get up and down the pitch and still have that turn of pace, particularly if you’re being asked to do it as part of a 3 man midfield, or you have wingers who dont do it well.
I think Nygren doesnt. He never beats his man, he’s not good at carrying the ball because he gets caught. I dont think that can be coached into him, although I do think his positional awareness can improve.
Its fine margins when we’re playing the best teams, though. I think he’ll always struggle with the pace at higher levels. I know its said a lot about players with a weakness in their game who do well at Celtic, but if he had pace and was stronger he would be playing in a bigger league. He’s too slow and too slight.
He’s still more than worth his place because of his goals and assists though, even in big games, though.

Thanks for the link to the presser with young Shim.
This is a young man who will go far in football.
Know some fans are critical of loans, usually as a critique of the Celtic FC Board, but I see attracting the likes of Shim as a kind of soft power, he gets opportunities, we add to our audience. Terrific footballing backdrop, cannot wait to see him again. Kasper-Camilo-Shim all available for one position….wow, credit due to somebody
Tounekti does my head in because he’s more than quick enough but he doesn’t seem to want to do the basics.
Whether thats a failure of coaching, or the player doesnt want to learn, who knows
I think there’s something about instincts as well, its tough for a player in his twenties to adopt a more defensive mindset if it isnt in him naturally in the first place.

Good news re both Kasper and KT, was a wee bit concerned re the extent of their injuries till Shaun gave us an update, and now Martin seems to be happy with their progress. If they dont start tomorrow, maybe one or both will @ Ayebrokes on Sunday. In the middle of a three away match run, be great to keep our SPL winning record up, with another victory tomorrow. Gave up expecting them, still hope and believe we can get them.
CELTIC MAC – good news, indeed.
Four months for both as was reported on here may turn out to be 2 weeks.
Makes you wonder about the motives of those who deal in unsubstantiated rubbish.

I would have gave Jota a mention but happy he is still making progress and will welcome him back as and when. Young Chelsea loanee full back still not arrived, so Liam may start @ LB, not perfect but he does contribute @ both ends of the park, notta lot of people know that.
So all in all looking pretty good personnel wise….keep positive

Jeez, Andrew Dallas is on VAR for this Real v Inter game!
Andrew Dallas is not on the UEFA Elite Category list as an on-field referee, but he has reached the elite level specifically a Video Match Official (VAR).
Hence him being allowed to participate moreover Nick Walsh is on the ref Elite Category 🫣
I’m glad the Real goalie managed to get his hands up to save that FK.
His head would have been taken off otherwise.
Inter goalkeeper discovers he’s no Ronnie Simpson .

*The only reason we got shim shimmaree and his carolina is due to Chelski having to unload some players for this season so we were the best bet or so it seems.
On another note I had a young nephew, actually his mum is my niece, over here during the WC and he was telling me that his gran was a huge Celtic fan, nae kidding son I replied.
Anyway his gran was talking to Mrs TT, her big sister, and told her that her grandson is very friendly with our newest acquisition, and they all seem to rate him highly.

Didn’t that thug huckle Brian McLaughlin at Shawfield? I think I was at the game.

After McLaughlin suffered the horrific knee injury against Clyde in September 1973, Stein was reportedly distraught when he saw the damage. Davie Hay later recalled that Stein believed McLaughlin could have been the best of all his young players

Shim did seem to know where he was heading for when he signed for Celtic, and it seemed genuine.
Can see him getting a bit more game time tomorrow, whether or not Kasper plays. And who knows maybe also @ Ayebrokes Sunday in the League Cup in front of …….er no Celtic supporters
Welcome to Glasgow Shim!

Does anyone know if the HARP bar in Montmartre is the best place to watch the game this weekend in Paris ?
It used to be a great big Celtic daft Norwegian guy who ran it but not sure if it still is ? I can’t seem to find anything online.
Has anyone been there since 2024 ?

He’s no longer an on field referee only does VAR, because ,
A) he failed the on field referee fitnes examination due to a medical condition
Or
B) he was moved to VAR duties in the SPL due to ‘a particular aptitude’ for the role.
Andrew Dallas refereed Sevco verse St Mirren at Ibrokes and awarded Sevco four penalties in the match.
John Beaton said afterwards, it should have been five.

In this instance TB, I’ll readily side with the “absolute moron”.
A CQNer (I assume in genuine good faith) posted this from a report elsewhere online …
(“this” being Kasper and KT were out for up to 4 months each)
That report elsewhere had no basis in fact whatsoever.
Unlike the “absolute moron”, I do not wonder about motive.
Either it is cash or souring the milk of our success.
Or both.

Turkeybhoy @ 7:46 pm,
Do you remember the Kasper Høgh – “never heard of him” jibe that was aimed at you:)))) The smartest guy in the room:)))
Still, you’d have thought the damage they have wrought on our club in the last three years would have been enough…
Yet these spiteful, divisive, bad actors carry on regardless – hoped after the main puppeteers were emptied we would have had a bit of respite.
But No…
The machivellian, irony by-passers, with their small minded negativity, constant jibes and malignant content continues unabated.
These bad seeds are interminable, at least it seems to be mainly on this site though… the Celtic faithful have long seen through them.
Like I’ve said for ages – the whole Augean Stables needed clensing… obviously remnants remain.
Until then, the good ghuys continue to play football the Glasgow Celtic way….
Used to think that re-purposing of Lennoxtown from the proposed elite, state of the art football academy to a first team training ground was a hugely regrettable decision.
Barrowfield should have been developed as an elite training and conditioning centre for the first team twenty years ago – imo.
Yet one blessing. It is so far away from Celtic PLC HQ… it gives our football club a semi-autonomous facility to strive for excelllence despite the Board.
We are seeing Martin, Shaun et al mould a team from the embers that the hierarchies toxic faction left in their wake – just like Ange had to do in 2021…
“Top priority will be the league game against Newco with the potential to open an even more substantial gap…”
Not seeing that happening unless Hearts drop points at Falkirk or Kilmarnock – unless of course we are talkin’ ’bout the whit are ra’r2ngers dae’n obssession…
Hearts could well be level on points when we kick-off the new, old firm, Glasgow derby
That’s assuming a win in Perth this evening, which is my assumption…
Picking the starting eleven may be a bit trickier…
My feeling is the starting team from Saturday minus Yang…
While the smart money is on a Tounekti start, with Kasper coming on as sub…
A Høgh start with Duran inside left is an intriguing prospect, a little try out before a few more challenging games hit.
The Baur, Ox decision will be an interesting insight also…
