DISMAL DONS’ DRESS REHEARSAL WOE

ABERDEEN boss Jimmy Thelin watched in agony while his dismal Dons collapsed to a 4-0 defeat at Ibrox as they prepared for the double challenge against Celtic.

The players may have had their minds on the Scottish Cup Final against the holders a week on Saturday, but there can be no excuse for an embarrassing second-half where they conceded four goals and became the first team to lose in Govan in eight games.

OUT OF LUCK…Oday Dabbagh beats Liam Kelly, but Aberdeen’s joy was wiped out by an offside decision as they toppled to defeat at Ibrox.

The first-half of a game of no consequence was passing without incident until Cyril Dessers had a goal ruled out for offside and, only moments later, the visitors suffered the same fate after Oday Dabbagh had thought he had opened the scoring.

The Dons were out of luck four minutes after the turnaround when Topi Keskinen hit the post, but then the roof fell in with Vaclav Cerny scoring in the 55th minute and Dessers and Hamza Igamane adding to the misery.

Thelin’s side did little to get back into the contest and a freak fourth goal in stoppage-time from Jefte completed their x-certificate show.

The champions travel to Pittodrie in midweek for the second last game in the Premiership and the teams will meet again in the Hampden showpiece as the curtain comes down on the season.
