The first question I was asked this morning by a solicitor and non-football fan was, “How much is Brendan Rodgers worth?” I said, “He’s probably earned around £30m over the last 15 years”. “So he has enough to sue, if anything Dermot Desmond said is wrong”, came back. You and I both know, he’s not going to sue. It’s all true. It is also high time Celtic took a direct approach to communicating with the supporters.
Who of us would have guessed that Brendan Rodgers, Brendan Rodgers, the man of legendary impeccable character, would have his “conduct and communication” called into question? How shocked was I to read that Brendan’s assertion about the club were “simply untrue”! Untruths come easier to some than others.
Two players in particular are pertinent to the assertion that Brendan had “full knowledge, approval, and endorsement” of players bought and sold; Kyogo and Nicolas Kuhn. “Sell them” is not what should have been said when offers came in for either player. Brendan has favourites in the squad. Others, not so much.
The first thing Martin O’Neill is likely to do when he meets the squad is put an arm around Reo Hatate, Daizen Maeda, and put a call into Cameron Carter-Vickers. Where there are favourites, there are outsiders. Celtic have looked and played like a team divided for most of this year.
This absolute mess was predictable and predicted. On his return as manager in June 2023, I wrote, “Brendan will find a united dressing room, backroom and supporter base. We should all try hard to keep things this way, self-indulgent schisms do nothing for Celtic.” Two years later Dermot Desmond wrote that Brendan’s words and actions were “divisive, misleading, and self-serving”.
Predicted: “Self-indulgent schisms” and we got “divisive… self-serving”. I called it.
The wee-man toxicity that left the club in 2019 was welcomed back to my utter astonishment. Pardon my, “Welcome to Celtic, Brendan” on the day, it was with the best intentions but not entirely sincere.
Martin O’Neill was brought in with a remit to unite the dressing room. A team divided cannot win. Players need to know they are respected. The Honda Civic stuff was not a material comment, merely a public manifestation of what had been the reality at Lennoxtown for a long time.
Celtic has been set back years as a consequence of the decision to appoint Brendan in 2023. I hope the board recognise this, reflect how it came about and on their role in the mess. If you welcome the fox into the hen house, you cannot complain when he eats the hens.

I don’t see BR taking legal action.
Suing your former employer doesn’t look good for your CV.
………………..
With DDs statement on the Clubs Website, it is an attempt to destroy Brendans CV ALREADY, so IF Brendan went down the ” CONSTRUCTIVE DISMISSAL” Route, not only would it NOT cost him any money IF he LOST the Claim at an Employment Tribunal, and NO further damage to his CV really done, that hasnt been done already ?
On the other hand IF BR took a Claim of ( CONSTRUCTIVE DISMISSAL ) to an Employment Tribunal and WON his Claim, the Court could order Celtic FC to pay him Compensation ?
Just saying like.
KelvinBhoy – IF there is a run of good results and the team plays a lot better who knows? Apparently MoN told DD he thinks McKenna is the one to get. Think a lot of us on here were keen to see him or Howe last time. Howe now well out of reach obviously.
Don’t discount Robbie Keane either, fits the Irish connection that DD loves and has delivered two titles at Macabi and in Hungary.
Will be an interesting few weeks. I really hope for MoN’s sake it is not a disaster. His Celtic team were the best I have seen in my time on the planet. Less so in his final season but personal circumstances took a big toll on him at that time and he was understandably distracted.

I’m not sure what kind of CEO would want to work under DD. Leaving negotiations to ask permission for a 200K uplift on an offer won’t attract a proper CEO.
Where does the time go ? Martin O´Neill is 73 !
However he´s in great nick and will relish the chance to help out at this time and if he can get some results in the upcoming games he could gain some momentum and become the caretaker manager till the end of the year at least.
So who will DD look to now at this Laurel and Hardy nice mess moment? Would he consider another DD? Or in order not to get confused, DAD. Namely, Damien Anthony Duff.
Postecoglou might work again but I think Damien deserves a crack at it.
DeniaBhoy on 28th October 2025 2:25 pm
I do hope they get a ‘tune’ out of the players but long term, I don’t think MON at his age and Maloney with a suspect record, at best, is the answer.
McKenna looks like he is being touted for the role but he has a good job just now, albeit Ipswich are struggling. He may see it as an opportunity too good to turn down but may worry about the current optics at Celtic.
I’d like to see something different and don’t think the likes of Brown, Duff or Robbie Keane are the answer. Not a fan of Ange either after how he left last time. Whoever it is, whether I want them or not, will get my support.
McKenna has a win % of 45.95.
Big Jimmy @ 2:25 pm,
Yes, totally agree, Brendan Rodgers sueing Dermot Desmond seems ridiculous but it looks like Celtic PLC have left themselves wide open.
Especially as John Kennedy, Adam Sadler, Jack Lyons and Glen Driscoll also left.
If Paul67’s lawyer mate was worth his salt, surely he should know this?

IF BR took a Claim to the Employment Tribunal claiming ” Constructive Dismissal” against Celtic FC…..and LOST…MAYBE the Court could order BR to pay Court Expenses ?
I am too lazy and scunnered right now to try and look up the rules.

Your not Rodgers…
That’s why Brendan won’t take the nonsense to Court, a court does not adjudicate on girlschool playground bitching…
See the Willo Flood window, all Brendans fault, trust me, I heard it from a mole on the inside
From previous article.

“Jon Dahl Tomasson – he also reminded Sevco that they were a new club when Malmö papped them out of CL qualifiers a few years ago.”
……..
The new club with the same ticket prices as the old club when they got promoted in 2016, that only stupid assed, 2 faced, Timmy idiots would have paid for?
Then sing about Rangers being dead like an Snp day oot at the Clansman in Craiglang.
Celtic fan base post MON era has been utter cringe, fake, pretentious, sneaky, duplicitous, can’t be ersed holding up scarves at YNWA as it is played over the tannoy as they are too busy looking up at the giant screens to wave at themselves. lol
From waving 10 Pound notes at Gretna fans after it was announced that their club was going to close, to throwing bottles at Charlie Adams exHun player during a charity game at Anfield.
Now throwing paper planes at a board that these 60,000 hypocrites don’t have the steel Jungle balls to sack the board, so they whine behind Rodgers the sleekit krankie-esque lying victim.
Rodgers kept 30+ Million TW players from last season on the bench as we failed to defeat Kiarat – a sacking offence if it had been Lennon or any other manager.
But fans who can’t see straight fell in behind Rodgers the toxicity creator.
If you want rid of the board then SACK THUM or your just like the Green Brigade HYPOCRITES with their sack the board oot one side of their mouth and out of the other side:
“Here’s my 1,000 quid season ticket money Peter, Dermot, etc, HH, love you, merry Christmas, etc, yadda.”
From Jungle rebels to 2 faced soy bhoy sleekits.
From the Wolfetones to Wham, The Carpenters, etc.
Same Celtic fans who fell for the charms of duplicitous Rodgers, are the same fans who fell for duplicitous, mass murderer, krankie.

Welcome back to the slow lane MON 🍀
What top manager would want to work under DD after the statement he issued on BR?
It is what it is and it will be what it will be and there’s not a thing we can do to have any influence on the outcome.
The Blogger Formerly Known As GM @ 2:49 pm,
Your not a “details” person are you?
Clearly there is little point in Brendan sueing Dermot over his childish rant.
Yet, for me the real point is the current unknowns.
Brendan Rodgers has maintained that he will not leave unless he is “emptied”.
Yet the official line from Celtic PLC was that Brendan Rodgers tendered his resignation.
So the question is why?
And the more curious unknown is why John Kennedy, Adam Sadler, Jack Lyons and Glen Driscoll left as well.
Did they tendered their resignation as well as an act of solidarity?
With twenty seven years at the Club you would expect John Kennedy to be entitled to some severance pay, especially as he wasn’t included in the principal shareholders character assassination.
Well, to the point, Celtic could well have left themselves open to a claim for recompence – if it’s constructive dismissal DD’s rant plays right into their hands.

Celtic v Falkirk is now available within the UK and Ireland with PPV ( £12.99) on CELTIC TV.

I try very hard not to get over excited or too emotional about the Celtic, it is not good for the old ticker and blood pressure, however as last nightsa events sink in I FIND MYSELF PERPLEXED AS TO WHY THESE PEOPLE ARE BEHAVING THE WAY THEY HAVE, WHEN THEY REPEADEDLY HAVE SAID “we act always in the best interests of Celtic”.
If Brendan did resign, what happened to I will see out my contract ?
If he was sacked by DD weilding a sword, why was that the best course of action ?
Why has jk WALKED AS WELL ?
tHOSE WHO ADVOCATE CHANGES, IS THIS PART OF WHAT YOU WANTED ?
MON – 73 years old, can anyone confirm for me, did he once get a share grant as part of his renumeration ? back in 2003 ?

Yet the official line from Celtic PLC was that Brendan Rodgers tendered his resignation.
So the question is why?
You tell us? why did he yesterday rather than straight after the window, or after Kairat? and why did he do it at all when he assured us 100% he wouldnt. He even turned down a contract extension.
It does feel like you’re preparing the ground for more of the same after last time he walked
It’s obvious he was sacked, going by the golfer’s statement
Paul Tisadale leads the hunt for Celtic’s new manager.
Does that mean, as he is Brendan’s man, that Brendan is in the running:)))

Celtic v Falkirk on CELTIC TV Tomorrow.
The email that I received earlier, stated that £12.99 was the Price to watch the Celts tomorrow….however, when I was Emailed the Receipt from Celtic TV it was the sum of only ” £9.99″.
I double checked with my Bank ONLINE, and it was only £9.99 that was taken.
Not surprised about the managerial situation. Shocked by DD’s statement. Suspect much of must be true.
Thing that bothers me most is that John Kennedy has left. (Did he think he might be a future manager?)
Celtic40me @ 3:04 pm,
You don’t think it’s curious that five members of staff randomly decided to resign at the same time?
Then we get an unhinged rant from our principal shareholder on the Club website – apparently not in an official capacity?

He should have been sacked after the Kiarat disaster and failing to land a glove on Russell Martin.

As I understand it, the coaching staff are managerial rather than club appointments (copyright Brendan Rodgers) – so do you expect them to be retained???
You seem to be some self appointed BR cheerleader – not sure why when the guy is a proven charlatan.
DD’s statement is the best thing since sliced bread.
Probably the only truthful thing that the post 1994 Celtic board have EVER said.
Apart from MON’s out of the blue, off script, standing with the fans, warning to the fans about “THE SLOW LANE” but instead of walking out the front door with MON, the fans sharpened their steely knives for MON “The Dinosaur” and his “Ancient anti Celtic LONG BALL approach” as they embraced wee Strachan the love hearts chewing rebel and PLC Puppet.
Rodgers should have been sacked after his wee stupid victim games that he played during the Kiarat disaster which cost Celtic 40 Million quid CL money, with 30 Million of unwanted players from last seasons Transfer Window sitting on the bench behind him, as he played his Chinese whispering violin on the touchline KNOWING that easily suckered dim Tims would all fall in behind the latest Rodgers game of charades. lol
Whoever failed to sack Rodgers for that disaster should be sacked today!
Fans moaning about DD or the rest of the board are the same hypocrites who give the same board circa of 1,000 quid per head in season ticket money, then they all cry their wee crocodile tears when Rodgers spits the dummy after EVERY Transfer Window only weeks after he has said that he is happy with the TW.
DD did the club a favor by removing Rodgers lying ass off of the premises.
Goodbye Rodgers and your Jekyll & Hyde panto pishfest and your un-Timmy toxicity.
Hopefully MON teaches Shaun how to park the bus and play nothing but LONG BALLS just to get it right up the pretentious fans with ZERO balls as they consistently prove.
PS, The Celtic Collective are Union Bears cringe level….just stop!

After the Sun article, on Sept 12:
“Despite that, the Celtic manager has said he would “100%” be open to extending his contract even after a poor transfer window.”
“The first time I was here, I probably left because of that [frustration at lack of backing]. But I won’t be doing that this time. Absolutely no chance – 100%.
So not forced out first time and staying 100% this time
I read CQN for the insightful comments not the Pravda articles.
Celtic40me @ 3:18 pm,
No, what I’ve said is they’re unknowns.
For instance why is Celtic silent on a stalwart like John Kennedy leaving the club?
Doesn’t he deserve a send off…
Hail Hail
martin and shaun, sky sports now.
you know he is going to be asked about 2the rangers” dont ya.
Yesterday’s coordinated exodus was nothing short of a mutiny. A large swathe of the senior football department had seen enough and made the collective decision to abandon ship.
Desmond’s unprofessional and infantile missive, released in a fit of pique, was a deliberate attempt to pin the entire catastrophe solely on Brendan Rodgers. The strategy was transparent: by focusing all outrage on the manager, the simultaneous resignation of four other key employees would be lost in the noise.
It was a grave miscalculation. That level of orchestrated departure doesn’t get lost; it echoes. It reveals the rot was not one man deep, but systemic.
