Do as I say, not as I do. Paisley style

514

If the statement by Inverness chairman Kenny Cameron was utterly bizarre, St Mirren’s Stewart Gilmour explains so much about Scottish football.  10 days after Gilmour voted to refuse Sevco a parachute into the top flight of the game, he accused Scottish Football League clubs of doing damage to Scottish football by standing shoulder-to-shoulder with him in refusing to promote Sevco into an unearned higher league.

He told the Paisley Daily Express: “To be fair to Stewart Regan, the document he released last week was a good document.

“It set out changes to Scottish football that would bring in a fairer structure, fairer distribution system, fairer everything.

“Unfortunately, the people in the SFL have not bought into that. I just hope they realise the damage they have done to Scottish football.”

“The damage they have done to Scottish football”!

This guy is hilarious!  ‘Do as I say, not as I do’ has never been more animated.

Certain people might be able to say that they acted only upon information received as to the validity of the schemes they later pursued.

It might be argued, however, that they acted with a wilful disregard as to whether that advice was in actual fact correct.

    Paul67 –

Explanation for the Inverness and St.Mirren statements is simple –

    i) SPL clubs agreed to present a disaster scenario to SFL to ensure “Rangers” in 2nd tier and SPL save face with fans.

ii) This hasn’t panned out and they’re now preparing the ground for an alternative approach / attempt.

    Simples.

  11. Regan, Olgilvie, the SFA and the forthcoming witch hunt

Regan has worked to keep the oldco viable while it was clear their situation was terminal. If he was stronger and took the big decisions earlier it would have slightly mitigated the mess the oldco cheats have left us with thats all.

Its convenient now for the newco and their fans to pin it all on one guy again as it takes the heat of their in house main players…….especially Minty

But lets not forget Ogilvie the oldcos man on the inside he should have walked or got pushed long ago

His role as president has been clearly untenable since the EBT scandal was exposed, now we can see he was massively compromised because he received his EBT money years before while in a major SFA role. Why he is still there is simple Regan knew if he goes questions will be asked about Ogilvies appointment which begs the question when did Regan first hear about oldcos EBTs before or after his appointment..?

The current weakness within the SFA also exposes the control the oldco had on Scottish football and society, there was real and tangible fear to do anything about them until it got out of hand…Neil Lennon anyone.

Regan mentioned social unrest and members of critical panels got earmarked for hate campaigns encouraged by views from Mc Coist. It was obvious then that anyone who caused them to sink further would be as well finding some other country to live and work….Craigy boy Whyte anyone

With oldcos newco in the 3rd the game is over for any more “above average influence” over the SFA from them. The newcos vote is now small potatoes as far as restructuring of the game is concerned so it looks like ra people are about to get watered down.

Thankfully there is still one big Scottish club at the top table unblemished with money that is 100% clean who can help along the change.

It was interesting to hear Mc Coist say they will come back stronger (no surrender) lets hope that means paying all the bills along the way and their strength is gained by honest endeavour

I must admit CFC have played a blinder in all this (so far) I guess they seen it coming.

No wonder Peter Lawell laughed at that transfer from another Universe….

Just taken a late call from an uncle who tells me a new story about to break re Ticketus andCraig Whyte being in cahoots with Charles Green….?

Can this pool get any more murky?

I hope it’s true as would be very timely….

  13. Does anyone know any STH not renewing because there are no ragers games on the horizon?

There are other real local issues in terms of the affect it will have on already hard up supporters buses who could always depend on the rangers games to give them a lift either twice or four times a season.

  14. OG thanks for that mate.

I guess if it is the old clubs league share then there is no chance of them dropping the history. I wonder do Uefa see them as a new club since they don’t have three years audited accounts?

If the SFA sees them as a new club due to them having no audited accounts and if they don’t take on all football penalties incurred by the old club then I guess the next title the win will be the first?

How do you see this going?

Ps Away to feed the babies now but will check in on your reply in the morning

    Thanks for the info, HH

  19. macjay1 for Neil Lennon on

    A theory:

Everything that has happened to Rangers in the last six or so years has gone exactly to plan for David Murray. The writing has been on the wall for them for at least that long.

    Probably longer.

Every little twist and turn in the saga has been foreseen , taken into account and planned for.

Even the cast of characters may well have been pre-arranged.

    He has achieved his purpose.

His rancid brand is off the shelves and he SEEMS to be in the clear.

    So far.

Hopefully,we can look forward to a Shakespearean denouement.

I can only guess as to the timescale but once the EBTs and BTC come out it should become clearer. What they have done will lead to the criminal courts and jail terms -it’s big boy’s stuff. How it links to the smaller, but well known faces, I’m not sure about
