Do as I say, not as I do. Paisley style

514

If the statement by Inverness chairman Kenny Cameron was utterly bizarre, St Mirren’s Stewart Gilmour explains so much about Scottish football.  10 days after Gilmour voted to refuse Sevco a parachute into the top flight of the game, he accused Scottish Football League clubs of doing damage to Scottish football by standing shoulder-to-shoulder with him in refusing to promote Sevco into an unearned higher league.

He told the Paisley Daily Express: “To be fair to Stewart Regan, the document he released last week was a good document.

“It set out changes to Scottish football that would bring in a fairer structure, fairer distribution system, fairer everything.

“Unfortunately, the people in the SFL have not bought into that. I just hope they realise the damage they have done to Scottish football.”

“The damage they have done to Scottish football”!

This guy is hilarious!  ‘Do as I say, not as I do’ has never been more animated.

    A theory:

Everything that has happened to Rangers in the last six or so years has gone exactly to plan for David Murray. The writing has been on the wall for them for at least that long.

    Probably longer.

Every little twist and turn in the saga has been foreseen , taken into account and planned for.

Even the cast of characters may well have been pre-arranged.

    He has achieved his purpose.

His rancid brand is off the shelves and he SEEMS to be in the clear.

    So far.

Hopefully,we can look forward to a Shakespearean denouement.

Mate – I disagree with almost everything you say!

If David Murray ever had a plan, this was not it! He’ll be lucky to escape jail. His big focus has never been Rangers, but always himself. David Murray is in control of nothing. He has no “characters”. He has achieved no “purpose”. He is not in the clear.

I will agree with you in one respect – you can expect the kind of drama that Shakespeare would be proud of.

They have been asked detailed questions and after a lot of legal advice, replied. My reading of it is that the rules they quoted contradict elements of other rules quoted to them, and I can’t see how they could hold up to a legal challenge (though I’m not a lawyer) from a team that thinks it should have a place in Div 3. Yet another legal nightmare… how those investors will ever recoup their money…

this one will run and run

  3. Can I ask a question of those out there who know about the rules for the SFA & SPL?

I am sure I read somewhere a rule that stipulates transferring of shares or membership is specifically prohibited.

If so, then all this guff about it not being a new member but a transfer is just bollix.

    Can anyone confirm this?

  4. Mea Culpa, 00:10

    Prohibition on transfer of membership

    14.1

It is not permissible for a member to transfer directly or indirectly its membership of the Scottish FA to another member or to any other entity, and any such transfer or attempt to effect such a transfer is prohibited, save as otherwise provided in this Article 14. Any member desirous of transferring its membership to another entity within its own administrative group for the purpose of internal solvent reconstruction must apply to the Board for permission to effect such transfer, such consent not to be unreasonably withheld or delayed. Any other application for transfer of membership will be reviewed by the Board, which will have complete discretion to reject or to grant such application on such terms and conditions as the Board may think fit

  5. Thanks OG. So like many other rules, there is a get out of jail clause and if you control the board, you control the rules.

    Explains everything really….

    No problem.

    I don`t believe he was ” duped .”

By Whyte? Not a credible proposition.

How many years was his team on the market before Whyte came along?

Say what you like about Murray.

    He`s no mug.

    That’s it in one.

    But the accounts… now that’s a problem

DONT DO AS I DO, DO AS I SAY.

  10. Not that I’m a cynic or anything but would I be right in thinking that this is the first time such clauses have ever been invoked?

  11. Serge , who are Celtic playing in those old clips?

I think I read about a team (can’t remember their name ) that we used to play, back in the day. Might be them.

My friend, Barry McCafferty, tragically lost his son Connor,in a drowning accident in Creggan reservoir in Derry in the early hours of Thursday morning. The lad was Celtic daft.Connor’s room where I was tonight was bedecked with Celtic wreathes, flags, and all sorts of Celtic tributes and emblems and it was a truly heartbreaking scene. As I walked out of the room I saw a massive poster of Kris Commons.Kris he loved you.The Tricolour at the Creggan Volunteers Monument lies at half mast.TAL

  15. Inverness gave a clue last week how they really wanted to vote.

When the Inverness fans came out strongly against the Hun. The club said they would make their decision based on

    1 Fans wishes

2 What was best for the club

3 What was best for Scottish football

It loooked like they were preparing to outvote their fans on a 2:1 basis, They realised that their was going to be a majority against the fix so voted againt the hun as it would be pointless voting for in a 9:3 defeat.

If it was to be close they would have ignored their fans.

I hope their fans remember what they have leading them and take action.

As for St Mirren’s statement, I think that a few sorrows must have been well drowned last night and sobriety testing should be carried out before the lazy journalists start taking notes.

  19. From a lower division is it still possible to “swoop” on a transfer target, albeit it may be unlikely that any money might be available for such a venture ?

I am assuming that “jetting in” is no longer an option.

Snubbing Celtic, might that still be on the cards ?

How’s about the use of “ace”, “starlet” etc, although difficult to justify when talking about players in their forties.

Davie Cooper Park – will they really make all that money from the orange lilies grown there ?

    I have me doubts.
