Doncaster beats No Surrender Longmuir

948

The appointment of Neil Doncaster as chief executive of the newly formed Scottish Professional (sic) Football League was a forgone conclusion, No Surrender Longmuir was interviewed out of professional courtesy, and the clubs realised that the calibre of external candidates they would attract at the moment would be from the bottom of the corporate pile.  Frankly, a heavy hitter would not apply.

Now that Doncaster is freed from his previous preoccupation – trying to parachute a new club into top flight football – he can worry about his key performance indicators, bringing commercial income into the league.  If he can’t deliver a good deal, or scams a ‘Homecoming’-type deal, by pulling money already committed by a benefactor, like his pal along the corridor, we’re better off without him.

My thanks to Billy No’well for inviting me onto his podcast show, Desert Island Tims, available here.  I had great fun choosing material for the show and even more fun talking about Celtic, and life, with Billy.

FourGreenFields,Last weekend was a nightmare right enough but you wont have same problem coming back, that work is complete. If you are looking for a friendly watering hole you would be welcomed at St Comgalls or The Station Bar.

  2. fourgreenfields,

My daughter also travelled via Larne last Saturday and had the same experience

However, she reckons that it was only leaving Larne that was subject todelay and diversion.

Approaching traffic had a clear run.

Read the story in the ‘Gazzetta’ this morning.

Not only was the ref beheaded, but they also, apparently, hacked off his arms and legs with machetes!

    ” It’ll die out son “.

Haven’t seen ” it ” since 1998 but my memories of 1990’s Glasgow suggest that ” it ” was getting worse , more frequent and ever more dominated by the presence of lumpen loutish dumb ass bigots. A nauseating thing !

    Wow —–

Player disputes a decision and then slaps the Ref .

Ref pulls out a knife and fatally stabs the player .

A wee group of spectators run on to the park , attack the Ref , fatally stab the Ref and then behead him . That done , they put the Ref’s head on a stake and planted the stake on the centre circle..

    …………………………..

Chief of Police and Minister of Interior congratulate fans for the tremendous atmosphere !

Your Daughter was correct, the roadworks were only on the flyover were the traffic were leaving the port.I think it was compounded because two sailings arrived almost at the same time.

I was seven in Shettleston Main St – had never seen or heard it before, and despite living in Glasgow all my days, have mainly managed to dodge * distant drums apart *

I still believe my ole man, but he overstimated the power of education and relatively me being

seven is just a microcosm in time.

And of course with Sevco dead, the Orange Walk is bound to get bigger and louder.

Just read the story about the ref in Brazil.

F…me,that is obscene, and it takes a lot to shock me.

Dallas still thinks being hit wi a lighter was a lot worse though. Mind,he made a career out of it.

  12. I can remember Ordure Walks taking place in Troon in the 1970s, and going on to the flat roof behind the premises my parents owned and hurling eggs and assorted rotten fruit on the ‘marchers’ below.

Always found it very cathartic! Whatever that means!

  13. A mate of mine has landed 3 tickets for the upper stand for the Cliftonville game. I didn’t get an invite so I now know I’m not in the top 2 of his wish list. I’m green with envy but I knew if anyone would get tickets for a Belfast game this lad would. Ah well, I’ll see the pics and hear the stories.

I m reading Sevco 5088 ” fans” not welcome in Sheffield.. Told to stay away.

Apparently they ve a “friendly” later in the month, if they ve still got a bus to use..

    Says it all…

And for any MPs SMPs Councillors lurking- in 2013 , can you explain WHY a sectarian march by thousands of orange men, women and children should still be allowed… .?

Please explain to tourists why Glasgow is not safe today and why wearing the colour green is unsafe..

You get paid a lot of money so stand up to blatant hostile bigotry..

Ironic that a huge amount of public money will be spent today via hospitals and police YET the organisation they all align themselves to, Sevco 5088, is the convenient Phoenix of a tax evading organisation…

Scotland’s shame- and I mean those with political influence!

The world is shrinking – .

Last weekend , the Polis in Catania , Messina and Palermo issued a warning that Green pills with a Rolex Crown stamped on them weren’t Ecstasy but the much more dangerous , and best avoided ,PMA .The Polis said the pills originated in Albania and were an Albanian Mafia thing .

One week later , I have to check something in the online Glasgow Evening Times . Cue reading that the Glasgow Polis have issued a warning re Green pills with a Rolex Crown stamped on them.
