Done in the name of Celtic fans

Saturday’s victory is unlikely to feature in the season’s highlights DVD but it was our ninth consecutive domestic win and despite a few shaky moments at the back we’ve conceded only twice during that run.  That compares to only three clean sheets in our nine previous domestic games.

Despite selecting from the same personnel, Celtic have a vastly improved defensive unit; comparable to last season’s record breakers.

Europe is different. We conceded home and away to Salzburg and Astra, keeping a clean-sheet only at home to Thursday’s opponents, Dinamo Zagreb.

Done in the name of Celtic fans yesterday:

Did you read that the Celtic Foundation hosted 120 people who use the services of the Glasgow Simon Community yesterday?  The Community have assisted the homeless for over 40 years.  Community chief exec, Lorraine McGrath, said, “Too many people still find themselves without a home; more than 6500 people registered as homeless in Glasgow last year alone.”

You can get involved with the Foundation’s work this Christmas by coming to the game a little early on Sunday and shaking a collection bucket.  As well as the Simon Community, the Foundation aim to help Glasgow East Women’s Aid, Spirit Aid, Loaves and Fishes, The Wayside Club, Glasgow City Mission, the Scottish Refugee Council, The Invisibles and Yorkhill Children’s Charity.

That’s an incredible amount of work to carry out in your name over the coming weeks.  You can sign up to help with the bucket collection here.  You’ll enjoy it.

The CQN Annual is coming off the presses this week.  It’s a full colour Celtic extravaganza.  Order yours HERE now in time for Christmas!

  1. Yeah, yeah, blah….blah…

Celtic FC and it’s fans – punchbags of the SMSM

until sumdy earns their £millionaire salary that ‘you’

    so faithfully pay for.

A tip-toeing round the egg shells statement won’t do.

What will it take for Celtic’s sheep-supporters to ‘make’

the Celtic hierarchy get on the same page as the fans?

Ghood luck – KevJungle – Logging Off oot, bye.

  2. Paul67,

I thought Celtic were excellent on Saturday, whilst keeping the back door as secure as possible.

We should have been at least 4 up by half time. I love the fact that Ronny wants us to play like the first 20 for the 90.

Obviously them going in only 1-0 down would galvanise them. Only a Blind Man would disagree.

We are on our way to battering teams by 3 or 4 goals in the first half, IMO.

  3. Steinreignedsupreme

    Indeed.

Whatever happened with the SPL investigation into sectarian singing at the Rangers Kilmarnock game? Painstaking it must be

  4. Another clean sheet on Saturday with Celtic fan whipping Bhoy Efe in the back line. Goan yersel big Efe!

  5. Livibhoy,

    Get with the program.

Whipping bhoy Efe was soooooo last month.

It’s guidetti now who is pash ;)

  6. Wonder if the foundation dinner for the Simon Community will get the same SMSM coverage/treatment as an unacceptable remark on a toilet door by people who were allegedly “our” fans.

    Breathnotheldcsc

  7. The Brazen Head pub hosted The Wolfe Tones on Saturday night. They tweeted yesterday that whoever daubed SMV graffiti over the gents toilets was not welcome back in the establishment.

The writing on the door at Tynecastle is certainly in the style they write. However, the content is different from their usual tags which primarily consist of UC (ultras Celtic), UTLR (Until the Last Rebel) or simply SMV.

I’d be very surprised though if it wasn’t a Celtic supporter who was responsible for this.

However, to make a newspaper headline from this is the real story here.

  8. The team is just about getting by at the moment, we will reach an important moment soon, when it will go one way or the other. Need a couple of new faces in January to boost second half of the season. Surely Armstrong at United worth a punt at £1 million or so.

I hope Efe is at Celtic until he retires, hopefully at 45 or something like that.

  10. On another day Motherwell could have pinched a point. Then again, on another day Celtic could have won 7-0. We shouldn’t have had to rely on keeping a clean sheet on Saturday, but I’m not complaining because some of the football played was sublime.

Keep Saturday’s game in mind the next time someone questions the mighty Ronny Deila and the progress made ;)

  11. Livibhoy,

Instead of having a life ye need to pop in here on a Saturday :))

    HT,

    Agree completely.

Tough as it is to understand why, but the SMSM still steer and influence our support’s thoughts and reactions. It’s not just their subscribers either.

Judging by big Efe’s coupon methinks he is closer to 45 than his passport states. Bhoy has obviously had a very tough paper round.

The graffiti in the Brazen, has been dealt with from what I hear.

As for other graffiti… Don’t lower yourself to the new breeds level.

Me and the wee man got the bus down to my grans on Saturday and I missed the game on the TV and the horse racing which I enjoy watching on a Saturday. Worth it to see my wee 90 year old gran spend time with the Bhoy. He loves the bus journey through the city to get to ma wee granny’s as well. Funny when we pass the stripper at Lothian Road and the wee man adresses the bus and says my daddy goes in there. Hahaha. He might be 2 and a half but he is comedy gold. Cheeky monkey.

Went to see my family in Clydebank yesterday. A real family orientated weekend for me and the Bhoy. Enjoyed it.

Mrs LB was out with friends on Friday in Linlithgow and got a wee day to herself yesterday. I miss the Celtic at times but the family times are wonderful.
