Done in the name of Celtic fans

Saturday’s victory is unlikely to feature in the season’s highlights DVD but it was our ninth consecutive domestic win and despite a few shaky moments at the back we’ve conceded only twice during that run.  That compares to only three clean sheets in our nine previous domestic games.

Despite selecting from the same personnel, Celtic have a vastly improved defensive unit; comparable to last season’s record breakers.

Europe is different. We conceded home and away to Salzburg and Astra, keeping a clean-sheet only at home to Thursday’s opponents, Dinamo Zagreb.

Done in the name of Celtic fans yesterday:

Did you read that the Celtic Foundation hosted 120 people who use the services of the Glasgow Simon Community yesterday?  The Community have assisted the homeless for over 40 years.  Community chief exec, Lorraine McGrath, said, “Too many people still find themselves without a home; more than 6500 people registered as homeless in Glasgow last year alone.”

You can get involved with the Foundation’s work this Christmas by coming to the game a little early on Sunday and shaking a collection bucket.  As well as the Simon Community, the Foundation aim to help Glasgow East Women’s Aid, Spirit Aid, Loaves and Fishes, The Wayside Club, Glasgow City Mission, the Scottish Refugee Council, The Invisibles and Yorkhill Children’s Charity.

That’s an incredible amount of work to carry out in your name over the coming weeks.  You can sign up to help with the bucket collection here.  You’ll enjoy it.

The CQN Annual is coming off the presses this week.  It’s a full colour Celtic extravaganza.  Order yours HERE now in time for Christmas!

Jamesgang, I think you should have considered these requirements before recommending The Bible: “something hopeful, positive, uplifting, happy”. I admit to having only read parts of The Word but plagues, destruction, wars and death seemed to be prevalent the rather selectively named Good Book 0:-)

    Hope you are coping.

It’s set in all right. In fact they are decomposing. It’s just that they didn’t get a decent burial and the deranged son(s of Struth) decided to keep everything the way it was before it died, dressed up the corpse in a stadium, car park, training facility and blue top and tried to convince everyone it was still with us. The smell, as you will appreciate, is beyond rotten…..

Anyone recommend a good meaningful book to read over the advent/ Christmas period – something hopeful, positive, uplifting, happy – other than fitba stuff that is – I’m in need of something to lift the old spirits…….

Do you think he has ever set foot in ibrokes or ever will,?

Truth be told he does not need to be an attendee in todays corporate world.

He does as you say have the power and control.it is probably best manage remotely, and if administration occurs he already has retail, albion and edmin hoos.

interestingly he gave way on naming rights.this is a bit puzzlin,

still thinkin bout that.did he cede

    cos

a-Craigy has those rights battoned down.

he may invest,,but the club he owns 10% of has an addiction to other peoples cash like a poor hapless junky is addicted to heroin.

Just reading back this morning ….

Jamesgang @ 13:38…. how you holding up? Didn’t realize you were from Paisley. Me too (Glenburn)… knew there was a reason I liked you!

SFTB … as usual… a reasonable approach to the graffitti issue … like everyone on here, I dont like people doing things that I think are harmful to Celtic… but I can think of very few who haven’t done or said something over the years that we regret, and there is never going to be unanimity about what is good and bad for Celtic

… when I think of some of the things I did when I was 20, part of me cringes, … but part of me wishes I was more like that young kid still …. as you say, a bit of perspective wouldn’t hurt here ….

and I can think of some actions/statements/non-statements by the club and others on CQN at present whose views on the club do much more harm to Celtic than anything a few young kids could ever do….

On that note, do they sell pensioner passes for section 111? Does section 111 have its own AED?

All this talk of bringing back the standing area ….. which I applaud… but if they are going to do that, perhaps they could put in a ‘lying down’ section right beside it (with cots), so old geezers like me could have a wee lie down after we stand up for a bit.

SydNeg @ 14:13 …. bang on the money…. with the amount of bad press about Celtic recently, you KNOW there is some bad s**t coming down the pipe over Govan way in the not too distant future that they are trying to bury.

In fairness, I don’t think turkybhoy’s post was aimed at Rickson or the terrible disease, but at the previous handling of funds from charity matches, by that entity.

I’d be stunned of the forehead if Ashley makes any money available for war chests and the like.

He will have to invest substantial amounts of cash in order to get Sevco into a position where he may make money in the far and distant future.

While Ashley is an authentic billionaire and can afford do to this, he is an authentic billionaire because he is not prone to extravagance.

As you say, he has things pretty much as he needs them to be at Ibrox, and Newcastle provides him with the best opportunities of making serious cash without any of that philanthropy malarkey.

Plus, he doesn’t look like a fullah who will be seen wearing a Sevco tie and blazer with brown brogues.

  18. BCW /SofS,

Would imagine that turkeybhoys post was in reference to the Deid Clubs “charity begins at home” modus operandi rather than a dig at Ricksen or the disease.

    I’m sure he will clarify.

    They suit each other completely.

  23. For the Belfast trip boys–you’ll probably be taken to the Rock Bar. The “Rock” as it is affectionately known, was, and I repeat, was, a proper working man’s bar. It is now the Celtic equivalent of the Louden. Various musicians I know won’t play there. Get up to the Felons or the Andytown Social Club. There’s plenty of music in Belfast. Check the websites before you go. Sectarianism works both ways, and Celtic certainly do not need some of these boys.
