It’s a well-established fact that we don’t have Beckenbauer and Baresi at the back, so the reason why we chose to play so high up the field is the most alarming element of last night’s debacle.
Dedryck was bound to misplace a pass, or Efe was bound to misread play. We all knew this. Regret over the last time mistakes like this were made doesn’t mean they won’t happen again. So when the inevitable occurred, our two full backs were 30 yards in front of the line of opposition attack, with our defensive mids well into opposition territory.
Efe’s failure to cover Kamara and Dedryck’s pass were consequences of the main mistake of the night, which was tactical. We didn’t lose the opening goal because of a bad pass, it was lost because we left an acre of Norway unattended.
Ronny, you should never have left so much space at the back away from home in Europe, we’re clearly not good enough for such an open system, not even close. We’ve learned nothing since what was supposed to be a lesson in Warsaw, when the same expansive errors cost us. Molde played rope-a-dope football, they could have watched us against Malmo, Maribor and Legia, as each opened their home games against us in exactly the same manner.
It must be an absolute joy to face a European opponent at home who leaves so much space at the back, begging to be exploited. If we had played with the same tactics we used in Amsterdam I’ve no doubt we would have won the game – no one in that Molde squad would get into the Celtic team.
There’s more. After dominating possession and creating genuine chances, the defeat looked inevitable from the 11th minute when we went behind. Body language changed in an instant and Celtic went out like a light. I’ll spare you what I said at the time in case it’s misconstrued, but the evidence suggests there’s more to worry about than repeating the same tactical mistakes.
Celtic have nine months and one and a half transfer windows to get ready for the next Champions League qualifiers. There’s plenty of time to put things right, but we can’t sleepwalk into another failure. More immediately, we could be out of a cup if we don’t pull our act together this week.
The original Holy Goalie, our own John Fallon, will be signing copies of his book, and no doubt giving you his thoughts on current events, at the Supporters’ Club on London Road on Sunday from 12:30. All are welcome. There’s live entertainment too, so get along and check it out.

Totally on board, and have been for over a year, with your point on repeated mistakes.
Unacceptable IMHO
All,
One thing that jumps out for me, whether RD survives or not, is the clear need for a DoF to set out our long term football strategy, someone who is comfortable in discussing strategic issues at board meetings, and discussing youth development , opposition tactics , player profiles etc.
Such individuals are few and far between, but I really do believe it should be a priority for our board.
PS hibernatin’ disnae mean supportin’ a team fae Edinburgh.
That team last night was not MY Celtic, nothing bloody like it. It really does come to show just how alarmingly we have fallen. In all my time being a Celtic supporter I have never seen anything like it,. We are all guilty of head in the sand. My Celtic would have put 6 or 7 past that lot!!
Let’s face it, and it does not taste nice but we are a Mickey Mouse team in a Mickey Mouse country. Simple.
OK we are starved of TV revenue etc etc.
I’ve had enough of this embarrassing charade.

Hebcelt,
Are you able to expand on your comment regarding discord in the ranks pre-match?
Hebcelt. I have you my ideas. What are yours. Same old PL policy’s ?” They are not working
Interested to know
What pre match stuff happened?
There was a sydney man at game Big brian fae sydney. Follows Celtic everywhere
He left on 60 mins. First time he has left a game early
Tactical stupidity.
The question is.. how much more before we act? Absolute embarassment last night, could barely watch – lucky not to lose 7 or 8 goals to a team 7th in Norway.
Deila is neither strong enough nor intelligent enough to fix it, be it the tactics or the personnel.
He clearly sold himself well last year, and many of us have really bought the BS and given him a chance, but the evidence is there…its a gamble which has not paid off.
The EL was a chance to show we are at least moving in the right direction – we should have had minimun 4 pts before last night but didn’t, and last night summed us up.
We can throw leads away, but can we claw a game back when we need to? Not a chance.
Time for a change.
HH
All this talk about – starved of tv revenue?
If we got decent tv revenue….scant amounts of it would be seen on the pitch coz….the Celtic board dont think that the Celtic supporters deserve a quality product on the pitch….know why?….Coz you sell yourselves too cheaply….make the board work for yer money.
At least the Green Brigade will only have to change three letters in their
Gutless In Malmo, Clueless In The Boardroom banner for Sunday
The Happy Clappers regard myself and some others on here as simply being Board Bashers.
Could any of them, with confidence, name a member of our Board who is hurting as much this morning as the ordinary fan.
As someone mentioned earlier there were Celtic Fans who had paid good money sitting freezing whilst be served up pish.
As for those who want Rony’s head on a plate, they might as well go yodel at the moon.
There is no way that PL is going to admit another blunder.

What’s the relevance of it?? To feck with MON! stop living in the past! We’ve our own problems now
Rubicon afraid not would be breaching some confidences, slightly regretting that post now. H H Hebcelt
I’m comforted by the mood of the blog. I thought some would lose their anger and try to get a sense of perspective. Thankfully that isn’t the case. Everyone to a man sees the need for managerial change.
Perhaps if the change happens soon we might scrape European football after Christmas and give someone else a fighting chance of qualification for European league football next season.
This manager won’t get us there.
The next step is to get someone who will not accept player recruitment as it is. It’s costing us millions and more importantly fans.
Tonev, Berget, Wakaso, Blackett, janko…. All brought in and sooking up wages.
Boyata wouldn’t get a game for Ross County. Rumours about who recommended him.
We new we needed two centre half a for over a year and end up with Boyata and Simunovic. Simunovic wasn’t a first team regular at Zagreb but we saw fit to pay anywhere between 3 and 5.5m for him! Crazy.
The scouting of strikers philosophy has finally impacted on the defence. I bet the midfield will be next to suffer. We will see Bitton sold and we will buy a replacement only to find he is crap or too young and then require to play Armstrong there. Armstrong suffers he gets shuffled in and out for the new guy and on the cycle goes.
Manager needs sorted, scouting needs root and branch review. Shocking
Hebcelt,
Understood. I know that feeling too!
I think (because I don’t know) Paul 67 has a little bit of politics to play with the club
Manage the message – in return for some inside info
For me this is common sense and gives CQN credibility
But the down side is Paul 67 has to be diplomatic when being critical
So hear is my interpretation of Paul’s message today
RD fu–ed up big style what a tosser
Efe and Boyata are bomb scares WTF
RD has no idea about tactics and confused the players
and he has no idea how to set up away from home particularly in Europe
Also the players chucked it after 11 minutes – because they have lost it with RD
Finally – I am curious as to why no mention of the Commons debacle !!!!!
Hope that helps Paul

It’s the bomb that will bring us together…
I thought John Kennedy was employed for his sports science knowledge.
I still remain clueless as to what John Collins does or brings.
I worry for any manager when good players start playing bad and bad players start playing worse.
We are not and have not been fitter, faster & stronger under this manager.
Rather than beat around the bush, I’d just like to say that it’s time for this coaching staff and head coach to go.
My cognitive dissonance lies deeply rooted in the dichotomy of wishing Kris hadn’t done what he did, but understanding why he did it.
And mainly agreeing with its thrust as I watched 3 members of the coaching team allowing him to do it.
What good is wisdom when it brings no profit to the wise?

Go and take a Fuck to yourself you love day’s like this absolute tosser. Mr 67 sorry about language remove me if you have to.
In defence of Ronnie. His Central back pairing performed quite well against
Inter Milan last season. Mikael, Izzy, Stuart and especially Johanson were
also much fitter. At that juncture we all saw signs of improvement.
The major problem was that we did not have a striker.
So why is CQN not raising the spectre in the hope of instigating civilised and
intelligent debate of what happens when you dispense with the heart of the defence
over one summer due to Money ball and loan signings and refusing to address the
striker problem ?
It took Ole Gunnar Solskjaer not long to make his mark within Europe at Molde but
CQN was only mocking him very recently due to his dalliance and CQN´s hatred of
all things EPL and guess what on the same day we managed to get a discount price
EPL striker at the end of his career.
The custodians at the club seem more focussed on this pettiness than doing what
is best for Celtic on the football side. That includes governance and public relations.
The negligence involved is akin to the negligence involved in Castlebeck, the care home
company.
It struck me last night reading CQN that the majority of the support cannot see passed the
dynamics of the game they have just watched.
If Dermot Desmond is of the mind this morning that Roy Keane would have done a better job
then could we be seeing the last of Peter Lawwell ?
Here here mullet and co2… Apart from the Berger mention… He looks like he might have done a better job than what we have and that’s say something!
Big Pierre
It’s relevant in the context of a post made by Tontime Tim last night, in which he reacted to a comment made about MO’N coming back. (not by me), and then posted a reply to me, which I just noticed this morning.
Out of context, I can see why you think my comment’s irrelevant this morning, or ‘pish’ as you said.
That’s why it was addressed to Tontime Tim, not the blog in general, and certainly not you.
It’s only my correct opinion, after all.
CQN responsible for Celtics decline.?..??.?.
That takes some leap of faith. Most Celtic fans I know don’t even read CQN, far less fall under its influence.
CQN is a blog, nothing more.
It gives a place where – in general terms – middle aged, middle class white men talk about football and gently seek attention.
To think one leader article a day forms opinions for the blogs users and could influence Celtic’s policy is fanciful, at best.

ST so you have your ideas, start your own blog a sort of Alternative View where you could promote your vision for Celtic’s future, you could even claim credit for changing the course of our history. I stood in the car park outside in the pouring rain many a time in the 90’s. Got spat in my face from a fan like you
Glad I stood there with the other fans then and we made a change
I went home and away from 79 till I was forced to leave scotland in 2002 cause I could not get a job
Keep backing lawell if you want. The train crash has happened
Wee radio review of last night’s Lazio v Rosenborg Europa League game .
Lazio won 3-1 . A red card resulted in Lazio playing with 10 men for 85 minutes .
Pundit’s view was that Rosenborg were fit, organized and motivated but Lazio’s significantly superior technique and game intelligence gave Lazio a deserved victory .
Curiosity saw me Googling the Norwegian League table . Rosenborg are 19 points clear of Molde.
Now is the time to jettison the management team – what is the point in waiting?
We are going in the wrong direction and waiting means we are getting further away from a solution.
Ronny will only inflict more damage
It is such an easy reaction to just call for the manager’s head after a performance like last night.
We’ve had 3 games in this group stage. In 2 of them we were fantastic for long periods. In 1 we have been absolutely abysmal. We showed in Azerbaijan that we are capable of a battling away performance. Ronny needs to reset his level of ambition in games like last night.
We’ve gone from one extreme under Lennon to the other under Ronny. W
Good Morning.
And there was me saying that I felt quite optimistic ahead of last night’s game.
Horrific stuff.
Here’s my take on it, and on what happens next…
https://theclumpany.wordpress.com/2015/10/23/all-too-commons-complaints/
I was very much a fan of the Ronny experiment. A young, modern, fresh coach on the up who can develop and implement a medium and long term foundation which can reap dividends on the park and on the balance sheet with the gamble being that short term hopefully takes care of itself re SPL.
Last night was Naive on so many levels. There is no core of any system to build on. I think back to John Barnes, so out of his depth and who hadnt the ability, resource or environment to play the sharp, short passing game he naively thought he would implement and succeed with.
Ronnys not implemented a system, all this talk of high tempo, pressing modern system has no evidence in reality. The mediocre not even halfway house to something better we currently have on the pitch is unacceptable. There has been no progress only disorientation.
I’m sorry but to me the current coaching staff are not fit for purpose.
Suprised at your comment Paul – 1.5 transfer windows to go. Shouldnt the point be – 18 months in and no progress??????
As soon as I saw the tactics employed by Molde last night parking the bus just like almost all the sides Celtic face in the SPL it was evident that the Norwegians had us sussed big time and had won the tactical battle and scored with their first attack. We sign a central defender for 5million and like all our new signings he is on the sick list almost immediately. Let us not forget that these guys are in seventh place in the Norwegian League table but are unbeaten in the Europa. Truth is there are no easy games in Europe, nonetheless hugely disappointed after last night’s debacle.
What is the difference between a coach and a manager? Ronny is a coach.
Ronny won the Norwegian league, beating teams like Molde,so he knows what was required.Unfortunately he doesn’t have the same players.
67 European Cup Winners
More frustrated than confused. Many of us here (and in the broader support) know the core cause of our malaise. It’s our impotence to influence change that’s frustrating.
I’ll be in London on the 5th if you fancy meeting to watch the return leg with the Norwegian Giants?
