Don’t limp home, omni-shamble contagion

696

There’s always a bit of trepidation before Celtic play a meaningless game, like they will do in Turkey tomorrow, the propensity to pick up injuries feels higher, although this is possibly not borne out by statistics.

Before Sunday the team look like they needed a break but no injuries, please.

It’s been a long time since I’ve heard allegations that some or other council are controlled by, and for the benefit of, an ethnic or religious minority.  This is an old-time prejudice, up there along with allegations of criminality or the personal hygiene habits of the minority.  But like Corporation buses, they come in groups.

Anyone can report Celtic for whatever they like, and believe me, many do.  Which is a great pity, as there are real targets worthy of attention elsewhere…..  For years, while others were buying football bling, Celtic were acquiring land, all appropriately, as is their borrowing.  More importantly, they have been able to establish all of this without question. Confirmed.

Just because one club was an omni-shambles doesn’t mean any others are.  Enjoy the laugh.

16 Roads Reducing the capacity of Parkhead has been under discussion for some time and is very likely to become the norm for SPL games as well. There is no point in staffing the ground and all that goes with running a 60,000 seat stadium when you are getting less than 40,000 on a regular basis. It can be returned to 60,000 for European games if needed it is a sign of the times im afraid we are not attracting the supporters in the number we used to. H.H.

How can anyone predict the attendance of an event so far in advance.

I will bet anybody that the attendance for that game is over 40,000.

16 Roads I would imagine Celtic have made the decision known this early is to get the 40,000 seats sold as quickly as possible I would imagine if there was a much bigger demand they can still open parts of the top tier if they wish.H.H.

  17. FIFA and UEFA have long argued that the system rewards those clubs that develop young players and that the fees provide a financial lifeline for smaller clubs. They argue this in turn redistributes wealth from the bigger clubs and means the smaller ones are more able to compete in competitions against them.

    Celtic Football Club statement

By: Newsroom Staff on 08 Jan, 2014 18:03

IN response to stories in today’s media concerning Celtic, the club has released the following statement.

‘Celtic Football Club operates to the highest standards and with the utmost integrity. At a time when the Club is committed to investing in and improving areas around Celtic Park, not only for Celtic supporters but for the benefit of the local community, it is sad that these baseless accusations have been raised with the European Commission.

´Any suggestion that Celtic has been the beneficiary of state aid is preposterous – as ludicrous as any suggestion that we have benefited from soft loans from our bankers. The historic transactions referred to were negotiated with the Council on commercial terms at market rates.

´The Club will assist the Commission fully with the process and will not be deterred from our work to improve our local area.´

  22. Good to see lazy journalism is alive and kicking.

    From wikipedia:

McGowan started his career with Scottish Premier League club Celtic, he made his debut in 2007. However, he failed to break into the first team and was sent out on loan several times. McGowan spent the 2006–07 season with Second Division side Morton, where he won the Second Division title and was also named SFL young player of the month for January 2007. McGowan then spent the second half of the 2008–09 season with Hamilton Academical in the SPL.

He moved on loan to another SPL side, St. Mirren, for the 2010–11 season. After this Celtic released him from his contract and he signed with St. Mirren permanently. In December 2011 he won the SPL player of the month award.

    Embramike…,

How do, the boards ire would be better served by bringing legal action against these slanderous accusations for a change, they would protect the club better if they refuse to accept any apology this time and simply follow any case throught to the end and ensure compensation for damage to the brand was won, this could then be used to deal with the BBC on all future articles.
