The world of finance which I inhabit is infuriating. Not content with being fairly soulless compared to other ways of paying your bills, it seems to consistently fail to learn from its mistakes. The Chairman of RBS was a career scientist (McKillop, albeit a very successful one). Given that I can barely understand a bank P&L or balance sheet (there’s a lot of funky terms on there compared to your bog standard company), I would be interested in how McKillop found that experience. Now we have an ex-FOOTBALL MANAGER becoming a Chair of a LISTED company and a career civil servant (Evans) joining the Board of HSBC. FFS. I would hope the fund managers holding shares in Rangers are raging.
