DOUBLE TON-UP BHOYS

LEIGH GRIFFITHS’ last-gasp winner against Partick Thistle was Celtic’s 200th goal during the reign of Ronny Deila.

The Hoops have notched more than two goals a game in 95 competitive outings with the Norwegian in charge.

Deila said: “We want to score goals and an average of two a game is okay and I think we’ve scored more at this point this season than we did last time.

“We have players who like to score goals and are able to do it and, hopefully, we’ll get more in the future.”

Griffiths’ goal in the 1-0 win over the Maryhill outfit was his 20th of the campaign. After missing the previous four games through injury, the livewire frontman came off the bench at the interval to replace Nadir Ciftci and claim the points-clincher.

Deila admitted the task will now be to ensure the player’s ongoing fitness in the crucial weeks ahead.

He said: “We just have to do everything right to keep him injury free for the rest of the season.

“Hopefully, he’ll be 100 per cent for the Scottish Cup-tie against Stranraer on Sunday.

“We have taken it slow because he needed to rest and now we need to be careful.”
