Dougie Dougie and SFA cover-up

897

As a consequence of items relating to lies told by former referee Dougie McDonald’s no longer being found by searches through Google’s UK portal, while reaming available on the US portal, a suspicion arose that McDonald has used recent EU ruling to have these items expunged from the search engine.

During a Dundee United-Celtic game in 2010 McDonald awarded Celtic a penalty, then quickly changed his mind.  He lied to Neil Lennon after the game, and to the SFA supervisor about the circumstances which caused him to change his mind.  Celtic Quick News published an excerpt from the supervisor’s report, which was based on information McDonald subsequently admitted was false.

Having admitted to a lie, and under pressure from Celtic, McDonald resigned later in the year, but the greater stench was that of cover-up.  Having set the chain of events in motion, McDonald realised his error and admitted what he did to the SFA on the day of the game.

Having lied, he quickly came clean, but the actions of the SFA were far more serious.  With knowledge of the lie, the SFA were now in ownership of it.  They should have told McDonald to apologise to Neil Lennon and the referee supervisor.  Instead, they publicly reaffirmed the lie.

Even after the cover-up came to light, the SFA continued to close ranks on Celtic, faces were set to stone.  If Celtic didn’t know their place when it came to the dark arts of the SFA, they became acutely aware of it then.  Nothing could ever be the same again.

I have sympathy for McDonald.  He made a mistake but quickly did the right thing.  His name is tarnished largely as a consequence of the actions of his superiors.  If he called Neil Lennon the next day to extend the apology he gave to the SFA, the matter may have ended there and then.  He was not an innocent victim of an SFA cover-up, but he was a kind of victim.

The fight to change the SFA goes on.  Peter Lawwell is now on the board and some of the faces have moved on, but it is not a healthy body.  The vast majority of the 93 member clubs are not conspiratorial in nature and have no ill towards Celtic or any other club, but overhauling the labyrinth of committees, with vested interests which have been decades in the making, will look like pushing water uphill to anyone committed to reform.

Our interests are best served leaving the SFA behind, and we’re not alone in that.

Excitement builds as the 10-in-a-row CQN Charity Golf Day takes place tomorrow in Aberdour, with Frank McGarvey and Len Murray!

This year we are raising money for Glasgow the Caring City and The Cookiejar Foundation. We have two copies of this magnificent canvas, signed by Billy McNeill, one is available to the highest bidder on ebay here.

I was on the pitch at Hampden ‘that’ day.

I was nowhere like in the same LEGENDARY mode as

Michael Moody RIP, no not me….I was on the same patch of grass thats

for sure but, I was only on the pitch to escape the bottles and cans being

flung from the back of the ole Celtic end. It was quite surreal, to say the least.

One minute, you were involved in one of the most emotional renditions of YNWA

‘ever’…the next, you were scrambling to get onto the pitch, away from the missiles.

My vague summing up of the 1980 ‘riot’ is…Celtic win the SCF in extra time v’s the

worlds worst losers and, in a matter of mins, a group of about 50 -100 of what you would

call the autograph hunting fraternity of young Celtic fans run onto the pitch, hugging

players and, harmless stuff. Little did they know that, they had just given the hun-rioters

their cue to be on the pitch as well. After all this time I keep going back to the Gerry

McNee – History of Celtic book in 1978 were, Gerry said in one of the chapters that,

“Rangers FC, had a core of hooligan supporters who were known through out europe, as being ‘unbeaten’ by any other group of fans, such was their violence.”

Well, ‘that’ reputations cage took a good rattle ‘that’ day at Hampden. imho

The Celtic fans, celebrating a SCF victory over Rangers, watched as their younger fans were being attacked on the pitch, sparking what to my mind was the ‘only’ response which was appropriate at ‘that’ time. imho

It was like the hun rioters who had wrecked europe and left a trail of carnage in their wake for decades had, all of a sudden dialed the wrong number!

    Their day had come. imho

What I found strange about ‘that’ day was…the police were posted absent until, the Celtic

end, stood its ground and fought back!

    Strange that, eh?

Michael Moody’s LEGENDARY stance will forever be remembered by those who were

in close proximity. I went on the train ‘that’ day with a huge crowd from ole Blantyre and,

a lot of them were involved in chasing the huns off Hampden and, outside on the streets

afterwards were it was a bit scary but, from what I saw….the Tims done well. imho

Michael Moody RIP – will always be a real LEGEND in my book.

Thoughts with the family and all who are close. So sad.

    Good Morning.

I come to thee pages this morning with a heartfelt plea.

    Please read this: http://t.co/7bvJTNOgXF

In fact, if possible, save it for later and read it twice and then show it to someone else to read.

Having read it, please stop and consider how what you have just read affects you — especially if you are a sky subscriber or if you in any other way contribute to the Murdoch organisation.

Read how politicians and public figures are terrified of this organisation and the true power it wields… and how it wields it and for whose benefit.

As your £35 or whatever floats out of your bank this month in return for the football or the movies or the arts channel or whatever you think you are paying for … think about how that money times many millions is used by this company and by those who control it.

It is all there in the article.

If you subscribe to sky …… you are among the deceived, the manipulated, the manoeuvred and brainwashed.

Yet you are the engine room, the necessary, the vital worker ant who along with millions of others are absolutely necessary to keep the Coulsons, the Brookes, The Mulcaires and their likes in a job and at the very heart of the political influence in this country…….. and all under the control and at the behest of the likes of Rupert Murdoch.

He paid for both their defences in the old Bailey. His money and influence will have manipulated and dictated that trial and its reporting and how Government and opposition react in a Pavlov’s Dog type way, how all that is reported and how we all just sit here and lap it up.

Yip …. as your money….. no matter how small an amount …… heads out the door of the bank into any tentacle of the Murdoch corporation just remember ……. you are the complicit!

    You did this.

  12. Very disappointed in Celtic yesterday. last season we broke all sorts of records with clean sheets and this time we couldn`t even do it for 90 minutes. Sack the manager. He has had plenty time to sort out our glaring defensive weaknesses.

  19. Dear Rapid-Fans,

A couple of weeks ago we were able to announce Celtic FC as this years opponent for the annual international friendly match. Celtic, a club that has interesting historical ties to Rapid, will be our guests in the Hanappi Stadium on the 6th July and become the latest in a line of great European clubs we’ve had the pleasure of hosting in Vienna, clubs such as: Schalke 04, Liverpool, AS Roma, Valencia, Hoffenheim, Anderlecht and PSG.

In partnership with Upper Austrian sports agency Global Sports by in Focus GmbH we’re proud to have secured the current Scottish champions to round off our Summer training camp, also organised by Global Sports, that will be taking place between 29th June and 6th July in Schärding.

Should everything go to plan, the game against Celtic could be a farewell fixture, before we temporarily say goodbye to our home to allow building work on the new stadium to commence. Whether we get the green light or not will be decided in the coming weeks, when all the final behind the scenes decisions will have been made. We don’t want to get ahead of ourselves in this complicated process, and hence (at the moment) the game against Celtic is earmarked simply as an international friendly.

Two pals from the same square in Castlemilk were on the pitch that day. One was a Celtic fan and the other a Deadco fan.

Alex the Deadco was being arrested and young Moore saw this and ran up and head butted the copper and shouted for Alex to run, both got home safely.
