Downtime hopes

186

With a squad already looking short on cover, Brendan Rodgers will be keen to see players return from international duty over the next couple of days.  Liam Scales, Daizen Maeda, Sebastian Tounekti and Benjamin Nygren all played parts of games for their countries, none of the outfielders played an entire game, which is a blessing.  Sebastian’s trip from Equatorial Guinea on Monday to Kilmarnock on Sunday is likely to be one of the greater contrasts he faces in his career.  The climate in Kilmarnock has never been equatorial.

Those players aside, the rest of the squad should show the benefit of two weeks endurance and technical training.  Kieran Tierney has been used sparingly in games thus far.  Hopefully this is a temporary measure and we will see him last an entire game going forward.

I also hope Michel-Ange Balikwisha has had time to settle into the club.  He was technically sound at Ibrox on his debut but inevitably short of synchronicity with his team-mates.

Kelechi Iheanacho has been out of the picture at Sevilla since preseason so will be behind the rest of the squad in terms of fitness.  He will need games to resolve that. I doubt he will start at either Kilmarnock or Thistle the following week, but the competition steps up after these games, so the manager will be keen to get him on the grass/plastic for a period.

  1. QuadBhoy @ 11:35 am,

Look, I clearly stated in my earlier comment….

    Chairbhoy @ 5:24 am

…”Yes, that’s [Man-management] a very important asset in the modern game.

You hear lots of myth and legend and hearsay about this subject.

Of course great managers of the past had their methods; Stein, Shankly, Clough etc – were rather notorious for their methods, SAF’s hairdryer for instance.”

Do, we know that traditionally Managers, even great ones don’t get on with every player.

However, you have filled your responses with myth and hearsay – planting the discontent of footballers like Yang and Idah as examples of Brendan Rodgers bad man management, when it is actually part of Celtic Board’s deplorable man management.

Yang, Meada and Idah are or were employed by Celtic and the Board used them as commodities.

A disgraceful situation bourne out of detachment and incompetence.

Yet no apologises, just briefing the Scottish Sun to blame Brendan Rodgers.

Issuing an unfactual and scapegoating statement.

So we know what’s going down.

So maybe we could dispense of the innuendo, tongue in cheek or not.

I gave quotes, there is a link to a video interview.

No quotes from you, no links from you.

God bless his memory, rip Jock 🙏

    ……….

One time when I was a wee lad, Mr Stein put his arm around me, at the front of the old Celtic end at Ibrox, during one of the many riots in the Jan 1978 3-1 for the Huns, in the most unbelievable mibbery I have ever seen, so bad that Celtic were about to walk off the pitch at one point.

Mr Stein said to me: “GO BACK ONTO THE TERRACES LAD, TODAY WILL BE THE MAKING OF YOU, SO REMEMBER AND POST ABOUT IT ON CQN. I’LL BE WATCHING. YOU HEAR.”

    And that’s another true story!

I nodded my head and he his, and I did as he said, and went back onto the Terracing, but it was almost prophetic as he appeared on the grass behind the goals, the riot briefly stopped, and the entire Celtic end was covered in scarves as YNWA got belted out, the most emotional version ever, as though it was straight at Mr Stein. As he went back into the dugout, the mibbery started again, and so too did the rioting, it was a scary time for a young lad, but as Mr Stein told me, it was character forming

So when you see my posts on here, remember who sent me.

  4. Quadbhoy…

Apologies if my comments aren’t picking up on your less than serious digs – but for me this situation is now quite serious.

Another character assassination of our manager as was instigated by “Celtic Insiders”, in February 2019 is not on.

They got away with it then, they need nailed now.

“The football department should have final say here for me. If spending £x on players happy to play in our backwater league without CL confirmed means we have less left over to spend £2x on better players that might join if we confirm CL then it’s a gamble. I don’t know any inside conversations but that’s just as likely a scenario as BR wanting player x, y and z signed before the CL qualifiers and the clubs and players all being happy to do so and us choosing not to for some reason.”

Very good points, though if we want to attract better players, paying less is not an option – as you know I generally enjoy your posts, so hopefully normal service will be resumed.

    AULDHEID

I hope you are well. But on the other hand, If you are like hundreds of millions of people, probably billions, who are unwell from taking the bioweapon disguised as a vaccine, and fell for the dictatorial demands, not by me, but by the do gooder media, politicians, nhs, academia, houses of worship, even pretentious Celtic posters on blogs, etc, whereas I, and lots of other good minded people who refuse to believe a single word that is said by media, politicians, houses of worship, and especially, pretentious do gooders who post on Celtic blogs, lots of us tried to help those who are, lets say, more trusting of all of these liars above, and our offers of help were, smeared at, laffed at, grassed, snitched, Witch hunted, stabbed in the back, by those do gooder types, mentioned above.

And because of that, tens of millions, billions of innocent people got ill, or worse…

As for me looking up back alleys to try to garner some meeting of minds, well that might be more appealing than surrounding myself with a majority, not all, but a majority of stupid assed, know all, know fk all, types, who’ll, lie, about simple fact of the matter FACts that do not show these pretentious Timmy folks up in such a good light.

Just simple asides like, why has holier than thou AULDHEID, refused in 9 years to mention that Celtic PLC put old Rangers ticket prices, onto new club Sevco tickets in 2016, after Sevco got promoted?

Only £49 per Celtic soul. Not too shabby!

It is now £56 per Celtic soul.

Why is that so difficult to understand?

Whereas, Res12, is like a script for an Indiana Jones film.

People don’t have time to sit down all weekend reading spread sheet types of guff that does not lay a glove on Celtic PLC, without whom, nothing will be actioned, from a Celtic point of view, so either, jump off the top of the building, or sack the board??

You could have used your reach to create the £49 shafting of Celtic fans narrative, but you 100% ignored THAT glaring ticket deceit, which rendered you untrustworthy to me, despite all of your holy books, you looked the other way from the truth, and that is on you.

Sorry if that offends, but here we are.

Given the surroundings of where we are at, you don’t address the truth and your “AULDHEID” name never gets cancelled, I speak the truth and some folk just can’t keep control of themselves, and my “KEVJUNGLE” name has had its password altered, hundreds of times, just like what happend to, “ERNIE LYNCH”, “CANAMALAR”, “THE LION’S ROAR”, and far too many other folk, with different views.

If Timdom does not hear, or see, truths being spoken, and in 9 years the great AULDHEID has not mentioned the PLC’s £49 ticket deceit even once?!?!

Just think how that might have changed the landscape of Timdom?!

AULDHEID might even be the chairman?!

But, what good would that do Celtic supporters if as we know, AULDHEID wont even mention the 2016 shifty act by the PLC, after Sevco’s promotion, drowned out by the circuses that greeted the arrival of Brendan-1, the Celtic PLC sleight of hand to cement the OLD FIRM as though Rangers did not die!

    And AULDHEID blocked all knowledge?

    Where you in on it?

If you were, what good is that?

And what good does it do Timdom to keep them dumb, and attack those who aim to remove the dumbness from Timdom?!

Cheap scaldings from the great AULDHEID, of me, make him seem, not so great.

The SENTINELCELTS blog was set up, to shield you, AULDHEID, from any uncomfortable questioning. If it wasn’t….then why was it created? Because it sucks so bad!

Take care AULDHEID, and know that I wish you no harm, or to anyone on any blog, and human frailty can make me scream at the screen: “AULDHEID, AULDHEID, AULDHEID…GONNAE PLEASE STOP ANSWERING A DIFFERENT QUESTION FROM THE ONE THAT I, AND ONLY I, HAVE BEEN ASKING YOU…..FOR NINE LONG YEARS????”….as I have nothing to hide, so trying to understand your evading the answer to the £49 old firm ticket question. Fans have been shafted, and AUDHEID is evading the question. WHY?

    What happened to PETEC????

The truth as we can verify it creates a better, and more healthy Celtic supporter base, not one littered with mouthpieces who just pretend to get to the truth, but to embrace it, not dance the seven veils around about it.

Maybe the quality of Timdom is what it deserves.

    I know I can sleep easy…..zzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

  6. Hail hail chaps.

Towards the end of his time with us, PC Lustig was given a one year extension to his contract with an option for an additional season.

After the initial season the Board gave Mika notice they would not be taking up the option.

However rather than let the player go, they offered him a new reduced contract and untypically refused to give up his player registration in June to allow him and his family to move on.

These are not nice people who run our PLC

    QuadBhoy @ 11:35 am,

Apologies for lag in reply, was doing some level 5 maths with my son over lunch. Back to work meeting now :)

“Look, I clearly stated in my earlier comment….”

I made some clear statements too which you total glossed over then made a lot of assumptions that I am pro board and accusations that I was inferring things that I was not.

“Do, we know that traditionally Managers, even great ones don’t get on with every player.”

100%. I don’t get one with everyone in my team but I am respectful to them all, and praise and challenge them all individually whether I like them or not. As a team lead my likes/dislikes are not important to the team.

“However, you have filled your responses with myth and hearsay – planting the discontent of footballers like Yang and Idah as examples of Brendan Rodgers bad man management, when it is actually part of Celtic Board’s deplorable man management.”

    Where have I done this?

“Yang, bless him” is a quote I have given. I find it distasteful and bad man management; perhaps you do not. Fair enough. I could go find the quotes on him dismissing the new LB before giving him a chance; I’d seen enough to think there is something there worth developing over a loan player. Same of our young centre back Murray; I’d play him over a Man City loanee.

“Yang, Meada and Idah are or were employed by Celtic and the Board used them as commodities.

A disgraceful situation bourne out of detachment and incompetence.”

Ange kept a distance and treated players as resources also; BR will do on occasion too. Given a lot of players see the club as a stepping stone I think that is a two way street. Treat others as they treat you and all that.

Has BR always treated players well? Yang, Holm et al? I don’t know – but I can only go by some of his public comments which I do not find good man management.

“I gave quotes, there is a link to a video interview.

No quotes from you, no links from you.”

See above for quotes from me – you just choose again and again to conveniently ignore them within the context of the topic (BR’s management skills or lack thereof) and keep banging on about the board.

How many autobiographies of players have you read where they tell a different side of a story than what they might have said publicly at the time. Being polite/political when needed is not lying perse, perhaps just not being fully honest. That is all I was saying re: that interview – what else would he say? If he really valued BR as a man and a manager then why choose Middlesborough?

If he genuinely man-loves BR (I dont know either way) then it shows how hard it must be to get players here when even a player who loves the manager wont join us even with CL ties, even just on a loan.

I take your point but I question everything, including myself and my own assumptions, beliefs etc.

It is strange on here that either A is good and B is bad or vice versa… that both A and B can’t be mix of good and bad.

I’ve challenged BR and got a lot of anti board sentiment; challenged the board and had replies re: BR.

I’ve often agreed with the counter points on both occasions but it doesn’t address the subject.

  18. I reckon the answer to all the goings on with the board and Brendan is down to one thing.

Brendan and Lawlwell strongly dislike each other. However our dear friend Mr Billionaire is big pals with brendan, and forced him(twice ) on pistol Pete, and he has to suck it up, but in doing so, will undermine Brendan at every opportunity. As they like to say, seeeeeemples

Compare that with the way the Board treated Mika Lustig a short time before.

    Quadbhoy…

“Apologies if my comments aren’t picking up on your less than serious digs – but for me this situation is now quite serious.”

Agree; the league for me is in the balance and it need not have been quite so balanced but for poor squad management but I see faults in all areas here and don’t know enough about the inner workings agreement to get too heated with any individual. A house divided and all that… and a house cannot be divided if everyone is open and honest and all agree to (and honour) set parameters. We clearly have a breakdown and a divide which is not healthy.

The boards have a lot of faults but they have shown they can spend big (Idah, Trusty, Engels, CCV, Jota twice) and can spend wisely (see a lot of Ange signings esp. first window).

“Very good points, though if we want to attract better players, paying less is not an option”

Indeed, but see earlier point re our new loan bhoy; even when we had an “in” with the player we still couldn’t convince him to join short term when we could offer CL and a re-union with a manager whose system he knows he can do well in.

“as you know I generally enjoy your posts, so hopefully normal service will be resumed.”

I didn’t know that, kind of you to say so though not sure my recent posts are much different to most of my posts :)

I often loose track of posters on here and elsewhere (unless I have met them at CP, in a pub or on a supporters bus) as I am on and offline for long spells at a time depending on work/family needs so I generally take each post in isolation.

    Chairbhoy on 10th September 2025 1:51 pm

“You portray him as a “self serving” liar.”

Not my intent. I do not know the man BUT I cannot reconcile his kind words re Celtic and BR with him joining Middlesborough and have seen many examples of people pulling their punches or just telling people what they want to hear in interviews.

“While we are supposed to put huge import on a few words.”

All words are powerful. Actions more so.

“Ange may not have been the greatest man manager but do you know, when Rogic and Nir were leaving he let them say good bye to the crowd and they were wished all the best.

Compare that with the way the Board treated Mika Lustig a short time before.”

Again 100% agree, I was nearly in tears with Rogic (loved him as a player). Lustig I loved too and was sad at how he left. I appreciate Yang’s efforts too and believe he gives his all and works hard to improve which is perhaps why the “bless him” patter hit a nerve as BR has a duty of care towards the young man and if that was my son he was speaking about I’d be raging.

“Have you ever had to sack someone?”

Thankfully not, though been at many companies with lots of restructuring; I am a team lead rather than line manager though.

“That would be totally against my ethos and not at all the attitude I brought my kids up with.”

Me too despite my upbringing I have my own beliefs mixed from a lot of places (the slippers/carpet quote from a nun earlier reminded me of one of my favourite Buddhist teachings) and whilst I appreciate the sentiment at times, I tell my kids to always be kind but where it is not reciprocated just avoid said people.

    “Good luck with the maths…”

I was never so glad to go have to go back to work! Will give me time to swot up before I try to help him later! :)

    “seeeeeemples”

If it was that “simples” then why would the great moustached man not just sign a bunch of players in a timely manner for BR; if he can force a manager on everyone, surely he could do this too?

  26. QuadBhoy @ 2:17 pm,

Well, thanks for the responses and despite the censors we managed to put forward our points of view.

We aren’t really that far apart imo, and it will be very, very interesting to see how this Club defining season pans out.

    All the best

    Hail Hail

  27. So, we have only conceded one goal this season.

I wonder how much this is due to the much maligned KT, recently anyway or perhaps BR recognising we have very little up front and has adopted a more defensive outlook. Maybe it’s something else.

Whatever it is , could be that things at least on the park aren’t quite as bad as it seems.

The next few games should give us a clearer picture.
