Duff and Phelps in the dock with Rangers as SPL hit back

The SPL today released a short statement indicating that despite asking for information regarding the improper registrations of football players to be submitted by 6 April, the league have yet to receive “full cooperation from the club and its administrators in providing everything that it and they have access to and which is required for the investigation to be completed”.

This being the case you may wonder why the league have been so keen to accommodate Duff and Phelps on the matter of allowing a Newco-Rangers access to the league.

Tonight the SPL will receive all the information they require to confirm Rangers have a case to answer.  They must act with the gravity the situation deserves.

Duff and Phelps failure to comply with the Harper MacLeod inquiry might superficially allow their job to progress as though there was nothing wrong, but it leaves an enormous and insurmountable issue for potential buyer to find when they conduct due diligence.

If Duff and Phelps had provided information on time, there was at least a chance they could have removed this iceberg that will surely scupper their chances of selling the club.

I am pleased Mr Doncaster has stepped forward this evening.  Now the truth is out he must deal with the matter expediently.
