Duff & Phelps £4m shortfall

761

Following on from the SFA issuing an important announcement just as the Olympics opening ceremony was getting underway (Mr Regan, take a long hard look in the mirror), Duff and Phelps yesterday issued their final progress report to creditors of The Rangers Football Club PLC (in administration), recently renamed RFC 2012 PLC.

….On a Sunday, when the Ryder Cup was guaranteed top dominate sports reporting.  Anyone would think they didn’t want you to read it.

Take your time to read the report in detail here.  For those of us who follow football finances there is a treasure trove of information seldom revealed in this detail.

During the period in administration covered by the report, 14 February 2012 to 25 September 2012, the club incurred trading shortfall of £4,007,635.  Quite a remarkable figure.

The administrators received £2,457,420 remuneration on 10 August while the club paid £1,325,756 in legal fees as well as over £400k in legal and administration disbursements.

Buried (very) deep into the report is money paid to PR companies.  They paid Spreckley £28,941 for media consulting in relation to the administration.  They also paid Media House £141,441 for media consultancy in relation to the company.  Is this another remarkable figure?  Some creditors may be surprised but there is none here. Duff and Phelps will no doubt be prepared to explain to creditors the value they gained from this expenditure on their behalf at the forthcoming creditors’ meeting.

Duff and Phelps will soon be discharged and the club will be handed over to BDO who will liquidate it.

  1. Why was Ogilvie not questioned on the flagrant and arrogant disregard for logic he displayed in acknowledging his inability to do his job properly during the preceding 6 months but declaring his intention to sit down with the owner of the-bits-of-Rangers-that-Rangers-fans-like-and-that-have-been-willed-into-being.

Ogilvie’s employer had previously described him as “heavily conflicted” – this being in light of the investigation into Ogilvie’s former employer around the dual contracts and Ogilvies position at that club when these were allegedly being used. Ogilvie also had an EBT himself, although that’s a separate issue.

I expected to hear Ogilvie say that in light of his inability to do his job and the surrounding conflict that he now needed to vacate his post. The person interviewing him never thought of asking Ogilvie to explain why the appropriate thing to do was sit down with the person currently in dispute with Ogilvie’s employer over the same issues originally being investigated, albeit at a different club. How could anyone let an opportunity like that pass, or not at least ask how the conflict of issues was now resolved. I think this is the most outrageous thing I’ve heard to date in the entire saga.

  2. What is the Stars on

You know over on Dodo FC Media they are claiming that Ogilvies statement shows the anti rangers bias and corruption of the sfa/spl and how he ‘s not fit to hold office and should resign etc etc,

These details will have been attained legally as every person signs up to RM on their own choice. We urge R*****s fans not to sign up to Celtic forums.”

Willie was as blind as a bat, and I remember him at Airdrie Cross where the bus was going as he had problems reading the destination.

He and Jinky turned up to quizzes run to collect money for the churches and seniors in Greengairs and Plains.

He is one of the few Rangers players I couldn’t raise a boo for.

    Condolences Deedle.

    FAO BhoysOfOz..

I just wanted the Bhoys and Ghirls Down Under to know that there appears to be a legititimate way to watch the Benfica game live tomorrow morning (and possibly all other future Champions League games) if you are a Foxtel or Austar customer. It doesn’t seem to be common knowledge with Tims Down Under so I thought I’d post it here so at least some people are aware of it and spread the word.

I don’t have Foxtel anymore since I subscribed to Celtic TV at the start of the season so I can’t guarantee it will work, but I’ll try to explain what people need to do.

It seems ESPN Australia have rights to show ALL of the Champions League games in Australia, and those that are not shown on their two cable channels appear to be available using their online channel called ESPN3.com.

To get things up and running go to the following:

    http://www.foxtel.com.au/espn3/default.htm

Click on the ‘Watch ESPN3.com now’ icon.

Log in to the next page using your Foxtel Username and Password, and I think it automatically registers you for ESPN3 if you haven’t already. The next time you log in to the above link then you can watch ESPN on your computer, smartphone or iPad.

I just got a mate at work to log in to ESPN3 and when he clicks on the ‘Upcoming’ tab it shows every Champions League game being shown live tomorrow morning on ESPN3 starting at 4.30am, including Celtic v Benfica.

Lastly, according to the Terms & Conditions at the bottom of the page it says the following “ESPN3.com is available for up to two users per FOXTEL subscription household” so you are allowed 2 simultaneous connections to ESPN3.com for every Foxtel account login. If you wanted to, you could do the Celtic-thing and help out some Tims in Australia who don’t have or can’t afford Foxtel by sharing your Username and Password for a morning (It’s OK, you can change it later)

Hopefully it works for everyone. I’m relying on my workmate doing me a favour and letting me “borrow” his login credentials for a day, otherwise I’ll be depending on some dodgy, low quality internet stream to catch whatever of the game I can.

Good luck and Hail Hail fae down here in Melbourne

Do you think Charles Green has so far endeared himself to those who’s professional responsiblities are to make sure that such a big mess should not happen again ?

Whyte and Green might well just be in position for their respective periods just to squeeze as much cash as possible for themselves by creaming it secretly off. Whyte has previous ask collier and Bristow.

    Nobody has questioned Green yet.

The fact he cannot get investors makes me think that those with the money like the horse but not the rider.

    You’re absolutely right,

Chas Green is a bit player in this saga.

Living so far away from the action I usually don’t have much insight into the mechanics of this but I do have access to a sound source who confirms that Chas Green has had a couple of ‘yellow cards’ so far.

Normally two yellow cards would see him sent off but he’s needed just now, the men with the money are waiting for the toxicity to diminish before making their move.

  17. Condolences to the Henderson family, thoughts and prayers.

He and Alfie Conn used to own the Barnyard once upon a time, where our Bus left from. When we would go to Aberdeen, wee Wullie and Alfie would be behind the Bar pulling pints at 08:00.

I also knew his Son, Scott through a mutual friend, he would often have a drink with us in the Staging Post.

Tonight I’m introducing my 3 year old granddaughter to the delights of watching a Celtic team play football, we’re going to sit in front of the telly with tricolours around our shoulders and shout on ‘our’ team.

My granddaughter, like my son was born in England, but if she’s anything like her dad it’ll be a natural instinct for her to become a Celtic supporter.

It’s a Champions League day, this is what it’s all about.

Last seasons tough matches in the Europa League and the European matches already played this season have shown that we can compete at this level.

A game on foreign soil is never easy, but if we can keep focussed for the 90min and make the most of any chances that we create, there is no reason why we shouln’t do well.

A big plus for me is the return of Samaras: he is a massive player for us in the big games.

Sammi and, if fit, Ledley are the only two changes I would make from Saturday’s XI. Both will have a huge influence.

Sammi, Ambrose and Commons will be key to dismantling the Russians. Trouble with Russians is there’s always another 7 of them to dismantle.

Just reading the news about – Willie Hendersons daughter. Very sad.

I work with Willie’s brothers sons. They are both Gentlemen.

One of the brothers is my boss, the other my workmate.

They both seemed unaware of any news along those lines.

    Or, so it seemed.

Very sad. Maybe see them tonight. If not, I’ll know why.

Jabba implies that Celtic have been involved in jiggery pokkery regarding players’ image rights. He doesn’t name Celtic of course, but the inference is clear.

Jabba it would appear is acting in concert with Green here. This is the latest in a string of attempts to muddy the waters in advance of the FTT finding. First it was Juninho’s EBT, now it’s image rights… If he had devoted this much effort to asking sensible questions of Murray, Whyte and Green in the first place RFC might still be with us.

If you walk up the Kettering Road going away from the city.centre stay on the left hand side, its one of the first streets off to the left after the bend when the Kettering Road straightens out,the pub is quite non descript and sits down on the left, funnily.enough there is also the Northampton Irish Centre a few doors down, the street is rwcognisable from the top because youll see the back gates of the local newspaper yard.

Reality will bite soon for the Record’s Sidney Greenstreet or it won’t and he will continue deeper into irrelevant illusion and self deception.
