DUFFY FIRES BACK AT WEST HAM ‘REPORT’

SHANE DUFFY has rubbished reports he would prefer to join West Ham than Celtic.

The Republic of Ireland international centre-back has been linked to a season-long loan to his boyhood idols with Brighton demanding £2million for a temporary transfer.

The Hoops would have to pay a large amount of the 28-year-old’s weekly wage he negotiated when he joined the south coast outfit in a £4million switch from Blackburn Rovers in 2016.

However, it looked as though a hitch had developed at the weekend when the powerhouse defender’s best friend, Sean Roddy, replied to a Hammers fan on Instagram and stated the Duffy “wanted” a switch to the London outfit.

That led to the sports management consultant later insisting nothing had been decided.

Duffy and his pal enjoyed a golfing day out yesterday and the 6ft-plus back-four operator responding on social media by saying: “Wouldn’t listen to a word he (Roddy) says, he ain’t got a clue”. His signed off his post with a laughing emoji.

The 33 times-capped Irish ace has also been linked with Newcastle and Premier League new boys Leeds United and West Brom.

He previously played for Hammers boss Davie Moyes when both were at Everton.

Lennon has already held talks with Duffy about coming to the champions in his bid to strengthen the squad in the historic quest for 10 successive titles.
