Duffy: “What goes on behind the scenes”

643

“Not many know what goes on behind the scenes”, Shane Duffy’s words on Instagram as he said his goodbyes to Celtic yesterday.  Arriving a year ago as a 28-year-old international with years of English Premiership experience, he looked like the ideal addition to the Celtic squad.

Whatever ailed Shane to prompt Brighton to move him on, a year in Glasgow, much of it in isolation away from family and his kids, did nothing to help.  His parting sentiment alludes to some of his challenges has endured off the park.

If footballers would only be machines, nothing like this would happen.  Competitions would resolve in a manner the aborted European Super League would approve.  Shane was physically fit and desperate to be a winner at Celtic but still came off the rails. You can bookmark him for a reflective piece when his career is over, I expect he will tell a familiar tale of the toll life’s pressures took.

Yip, still no news.  No, not a good sign.

Has there ever been a more toxic legacy bestowed on an incoming CEO than that bestowed on Dom McKay?

Big Jimmy probably knows more about trying to get in to the dancin’

    ………………

Your Damn right RON Mate, and I saw BOTH sides.

    LOL

1964 I was far too young to go to ” the Jigging” as I was only 8 years old…however from the age of 15 I hit the Dance floors of Glasgow. the Electric Garden, CLOUDS, and sometmes Johannas.

Back then I was a customer, and many Burds would say to me ” Jimmy, Yer the BEST Dancer in the Hall”……

    I would reply, ” I KNOW” !

in 1983, I was “Invited” to work as a Door Steward all alone in a Glasgow Pub…I accepted because money was very tight back then for me, and that then led to me working as a Bouncer/Doorman on and off for the next 12 years or so in different Places.

Being a Bouncer had several advantages and disadvantages….Mostly were the number of Burds I could attract because of my ” Employment Status”, as I was usually very Sober when working., and my instant charm, good looks and Patter would win over many Burds.

As for being a customer, I was not too shabby at dancing from 1970 onwards ( according to many Burds )….and that also could lead to some Burds taking a shine to me, as many Burds LIKE a Man who is no bad at Dancing…and who has no bad Patter/Banter…FACT !

Im an auld geezer now, but I have many great memories of going to the Dancing/Discos/Jigging, and all the Burds etc…I also have some NOT so good of the many instances of Violence that came with being a Door Steward/bouncer…

I was usually a NICE Bouncer.

  8. I am facing the FACT that the English Voters want the Tories and Boris.

I am also facing the FACT that the majority of Scots want the SNP…With The Greens in Tow also.

I am NOT an SNP Member, as I always voted Labour up to 2009…….Labour let me down…BIG TIME.

I CELEBRATED when Labour and Tony Blair got in…..how wrong I was.

I DESPISED Thatcher and her Cronies…just as I DESPISE Boris and his Cronies.

Let the English People have a Vote simply asking….” Should ENGLAND get RID of Scotland and Wales, N. Ireland and just go it alone” ?

I suspect many will Vote ” YES” ?

    SIMPLES

  9. CELTIC FC….You also let me and so many, many others down….

  10. Will this be the week that we see a new management team appointed?

Our rebuild is already behind schedule though a new team would at least start the ball rolling.

I sense a level of apathy from Celtic fans. That’s far more concerning than the anger of some months back.

I used to end my posts with ‘no more excuses, no more delays’

    How foolish I was
