PAUL HARTLEY has been sacked as Dundee manager – with only five Premiership games left in the season.

The 40-year-old former Alloa boss has been in charge at Dens Park since February 2014.

However, the Tayside outfit are off the bottom of the and the club’s board took drastic action.

Hartley was named Premiership Manager of the Month after an unbeaten February, but the 2-0 defeat at home to Hamilton on Saturday was their seventh successive reverse.

They sit five points above bottom side Inverness Caley Thistle, but only five points adrift of Kilmarnock in seventh.

The side in 11th place faces a play-off against the second-placed team in the Championship.

Managing director John Nelms said, “I want to thank Paul for his time with the club.

“Unfortunately, the business we are in, sometimes change is necessary to achieve the goals we have set.

“I think somebody in the near future is going to get a good hard-working manager.”
